C9 Ayman

"Look Ayman, I don't want any trouble okey? Just leave me alone..." Zainab kept yelling at me nonstop until finally, I decided to confess my feelings to her.

"I love you, Zainab!" I said.

"What???" She squealed with a wrinkled brow. Thus, silence crept upon us for some minutes or so before I finally decided to repeat what I said earlier.

"I love you" I said with a smile.

I was expecting her to humbly return the words but guess what? She heaved a sigh and gently walked back to the hostel. I didn't stop her because I knew she was shy, and also shocked to hear that from me. I should let her go and mulled over my confession to her.

I smiled in satisfactory as I turned to leave. It was now time for me to go and administer some senses into Fadilah's skull. Yes, I should go to her faculty and disgrace her white and black – only then would she have some senses. But what I didn't know was Fadilah had already left home. I searched for her but couldn't find her. And just as I was about calling her, a friend of hers told me she left home almost an hour ago.

"Shirt!" I cursed as I turned to leave. Thus, my phone beeped. It was a text message from my mother which reads;

"I want to see you here, now!"

So I drove back home. My mother was alone, sitting on her bed while leaning her back on the headboard with her laptop placed on her lap. "Hi, mum" I said as I sat close to her on the bedside.

"Welcome" She sniffed as she shut off the laptop and pushed it to the other side of the bed. She had a running nose.

"Mum, are you taking your medicine?" I asked with a wrinkled brow.

"How does that concern you?" She said.

"It concern me because you're my mother, and I love you" I blurted out.

"Mtsww" She hissed as she folded her arms across her chest while staring at me. "Your sister told me you don't want to do your intern here, are you mad?"

"Mum, I think it's too early for us to start debating about my intern..."

"It's not early" She cut in. "You're doing it here, and in your father's company!"

"Okey, if that's what you want" I said about leaving when she stopped me.

"I'm not done yet, Ayman" She said.

"Okey?" I blurted out.

"You're withdrawing too much from the company's account" She huffed.

"Mum, I need money to do things..."

"Money? How about the monthly 300k your dad and I placed on you and your sister? Isn't that enough?"She intruded.

"Mum, please understand me..."

"I don't want to understand you, Ayman! Your dad and I have already frozen the company's account..."

"Shit!" I cursed.

"Yes, you can shit on your head not on my bed" She hissed. "Curse again and I will slap your face" She added angrily.

"Mum, we have money in the account. It's too many, why can't I just do what..."

"Shut up!" She yelled at me. "Is this how you will handle the company when we are gone? Wallahi I'm really disappointed in you Ayman!" She said.

"I'm sorry" I muttered.

"You should be!" She huffed.

"Okey, so can I go now?" I said.

"Remaining one more thing, Ayman" She cleared her throat and continued. "Fadilah called me crying, that you have found a new girlfriend. Is that true?"

Now what again? I patted my forehead. "Yes, I found a new girl and no one should please interfere!" I said.

"Is that a threat?" She glared at me.

What was wrong with this woman? She had never been this way before. "Mum, it's not a threat. I'm just saying it's my life. I should choose whom I love..."

"Okey, tell me about the girl" She said.

I smiled and cleared my throat. "Her name is Zainab, I met her in uncle Abrar's office few days back" I said.

"Zainab? In Abrar's office?" She asked.

"Yes!" I gulped and continued. "Uncle Abrar says you know her and her mother. They are living in KimKim"

"That must be Zainab the daughter of Halimah. It been almost five years since I set my eyes on them" She paused and continued. "You should forget about that girl because there is no way I'm allowing you to ever marry someone that was born outside wedlock" She said.

"Outside what?" I puzzled.

"Your uncle didn't tell you, right?"

"No mum, but does that even matter? We both know it is not her fault" I said.

"It matters to me!" She squealed.

"Mum, please..."

"No, Ayman you're not marrying her" She paused and continued. "Fadilah is the one you're going to marry" She said.

"Over my dead body!" I squealed.

"Then we shall see..." She said.
