C20 We're Leaving

“…But you’re right, why does this monster have my powers?”

Alex continued to stare at the glowing monster that seemed to stop in his track as it gathered its energy. Alex was aware that some monsters had abilities, after all, the lazer sight the twin Cyclops used was one of them, but this one was very familiar to him, after all, it was his powers.

Alex wasn’t stupid to think he was the only one with such powers since he actually got them from his godly father whoo was sure to have several children. But was it possible…did gods not just have children with humans, but also had with monsters.

Alex was distracted by a loud bellow that covered every other sound in the area.

Bab rushed forward, toward the large monster and swung his mace. There was a loud band as the mace connected with the face of the monster sending it flying almost twenty meters. It crashed into a load of monsters, even crushing some of them.

Bab strapped his mace back on his back, dusted his hands and looked at Harry.

“You think that’s my brother?” Bab chuckled, which was eerily familiar to the same sound you would hear from a tortured rat, “I know my brother might be a bit…how do you guys say it, ugly, but my brother is no way as weak as that shit I just finished with a single blow. And you dare compare him to Kan boon?”

“…”

“…”

“Well…” Harry scratched his head, “He might be your brother-in-law…”

Then he quickly added before Bab sends him flying like the monster. “Look behind you, he’s standing.”

Bab reluctantly turned and frowned when he saw the rising monster. It let out a deep roar which just sounded like what you would hear in an apocalypse. The face that its lower jaw was completely detached from its mouth didn’t help at all.

“Looks like I’ll just have to do it with my fists!” Bab met the running monster, and with a grab on the neck, slammed him to the ground and followed up with series of punched enough to cause an earth quake. When Bab was satisfied, he stood up and looked at the monster that had its head completely bashed in before massaging his wrist.

“That fucker’s skull is harder than I thought.” He muttered as he went to join the others.

Alex also seemed to have killed the monster attacking him. At first, he tried taking it cautiously, but after finding out the monster could only radiate golden light from his body; the heat not even enough to boil water, he finished it off easily.

There were also those who finished off their own monsters easily, although with different technique. Some decided to team up and take out the monsters one after the other, and now there were only around ten monsters left on the battle field.

But that was where the problem was, because these ten monsters stayed behind and guarded the swag.

“Shit! Why are these monsters so smart?” One shouted “Now how are we meant to take the swag?”

If they wanted to, they could easily get rid of the monsters, but the problem was the swag. If someone decided to kill the monsters, then he would basically be losing his chance of taking the swag. Although killing the monsters was fun and all, but a hundred points? It was really a hard decision to make.

“How sure am I that I would even get the chance to touch the swag? I could at least get the few points from these monsters!” Someone shouted as he rushed toward them monsters guarding the swag.

And soon enough, pretty much everybody joined him; but with different intentions. Some thought the same as the guy; there were over a hundred demigods there and only one person would be awarded points. There was basically less than 1 percent chance that they would be the one getting it, after all, they had been here for some time and knew of the capabilities of most of the demigods.

While others wanted to take advantage of the chaotic situation and steal the swag. And that was what one of them was doing now. With the demigods now engaged with the monsters, Ray was able to get to the stand and there he could see the shiny swag.

He swiftly took the swag and began to weave through the people.

“Where is the swag?”

“It’s gone. I swear I saw it here before!”

“There! He’s taking it.”

It didn’t take long for them to realize the swag was missing as well as the person behind it.

But by the time they knew, Ray was already far ahead of them and only a speedster would be able to catch up to him. So they did the only thing they could; hurling their weapons.

Axes stabbed the ground behind his feet, swords flew over his head, arrows whistled past his ear; but Ray had a big smile on his face as he could now see the stand only a few meters away from him. Just then, he fell to the ground as a stray weapon hit him on the heel.

“Get Him!”

He knew he would be caught soon if he didn’t continue moving and so, gritting his teeth and bearing through the pain, he began to limp forward.

“YES! I did it!” He shouted as he finally placed the swag on the stand. He waited for the ding sound signaling the end of the game and as soon as he heard it, he collapsed from happiness and the pain on his heel.

But then he began to hear different murmurs and caught a few.

“H…how come?”

“But I saw him taking it away!”

Ray forced himself to open his eyes and look at the giant screen displaying his image as the man of the match; but instead he could only see the image of a red-haired girl.

“…”

He soon saw the girl beside him with the swag he took, and there was definitely something wrong somewhere.

“It’s her again!”

“That damned girl!”

Ray then looked at the swag he submitted only to find out it was just a shield.

“…”

“What happened?”

The girl smiled. From the beginning of the game, she hadn’t joined in the fight; after all, her illusion powers weren’t suitable for combat. She managed to conceal her physical and godly aura from the monsters and began to work on the swag.

She was aware that there was no way she could return the swag without the others noticing, so she thought of something else. She replaced the swag with a shield and began to work her illusion magic on it. It was a good thing the fight took long as it gave her enough time to make the shield look exactly like the swag. And with everyone’s attention on Ray, she was able to return the swag without anybody noticing…well, maybe except one person.

But that was all that happened and now she was a step closer to ranking up

“Man, this is the best game ever!” Harry shouted at the top of his lung, “It was just too…great”

The rest just sat and watched him repeat the same thing over and over again. But Alex and Dylan couldn’t deny the fact that it was truly thrilling.

“Man I can’t wait for tomorrow to come!”

Although most of them were happy and couldn’t wait for the next day to come, but there were still those that weren’t so happy. After all, some of them had lost their friends in the game.

Today was the day which had the highest record of death. 34; that was the amount of people that died, and many more were heavily wounded. But there was no need to worry about them because demigods could heal fast even from serious injuries, and apart from that, the facility’s medical ability was top notch.

After having dinner everybody returned to their rooms, except Harry and crew who were still sitting in the hall. And that was because Harry wouldn’t let them go with his narration.

“How did you know about that?” Bab questioned after hearing Harry narrate another person’s experience on the arena, in his own point of view, “Weren’t you supposed to be fighting, yourself?”

Harry ignored Bab’s remarks and looked at Alex and Dylan, all smileys.

“You guys are really lucky. Why come here and we have such an unparallel game, you’re truly lucky.” Harry said, “So what do you think about this place?”

Harry’s shoulder was already swelling as he anticipated their reply.

“I think it’s good.” Was what Dylan said.

“…and?”

“I’m with Harry. This place is a great place, perhaps the greatest place a demigod can every find. It has everything a demigod can ever wish for but unfortunately we have something more important to attend to in the outside world.”

Alex looked at Dylan who just nodded.

The image of his mother appeared in Alex’s head. During the game, he had totally forgotten about everything; all his troubles, all his worries. But now that it was over, he was back to the harsh reality.

“…I and Dylan have decided. This night, we’re leaving this place. We’re breaking out.”

“…”

“…”

“W…” Harry couldn’t believe what he just heard “what did I just hear?”
