Every house that was brightly lit had a different story mixed in with a life that could not be repeated. This story began with the story of an ordinary family.
Du Ping was a thirteen year old teenager. He was thin, thin, and had a pretty face. However, there was no vigor in his eyes. In Du Ping's mind, domestic violence filled his entire childhood. His father drank too much, would beat him up when he was drunk, would gamble with his mother, and would vent his anger on Du Ping when he lost money. Until one time, when his drunk father smashed a beer bottle on Du Ping's head, Du Ping's vision went black and he lost consciousness.
After waking up, the world was still the same, the parents were still the same, but Du Ping always felt that there was an extra person in the family. Sometimes the things he put away would mysteriously disappear or change their positions. Du Ping was sure that he remembered correctly, and his parents were disdainful of touching his things. Could there be a ghost in the house?
Du Ping then tried to mark everything he had used, and when he woke up, the marks were either disordered or gone. What made Du Ping even more puzzled was that the date passed too strangely. For example: Today's # 1, when he woke up, it was already # 3, but Du Ping did go to school. The teachers and students all knew what he did, but Du Ping himself knew nothing.
From then on, Du Ping would often look at himself in the mirror in silence, and after a while, he would notice that he was becoming more and more unfamiliar. Recalling that recently, his parents had not scolded Du Ping much, but the way they looked at him became more and more strange. Du would often think: Maybe I was possessed by a ghost.
One day when Du Ping was fifteen years old, his parents dragged him into the car. After nearly ten hours of bumping, Du Ping was pulled down at the end of a village. Du Ping didn't dare to ask too many questions.
After walking along the dirt road for a few kilometers, they saw mountains in front of them, streams flowing around them. In the shade of the trees, they could vaguely see a few dilapidated bungalows and a small playground. Is this my new school? Du Ping thought to himself, but soon after, his whole body shivered. All his thoughts disappeared without a trace, and he saw a tattered sign on the door of the iron fences, which read: Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital.
What are we doing here? Just then, the security guard came out of the old security room with a shotgun in his hand. His dark skin and tall and muscular body reminded Du Ping of Li Kui. The security guard looked at them fiercely and shouted in a hoarse voice, "Scram!"
Then Du Ping's father hurried up to give Lee Kui a stack of money and a letter, which he glanced at before opening the iron gate and gesturing for them to enter. When Du Ping entered, he found that the desolation and gloom surrounding him seemed like heaven and hell. He turned left and entered a house with the words "Psychiatrists Department" written on it. Du Ping was carried in like a chicken by his father.
At the sound of footsteps, the swivel chair behind the table turned slowly, and the man in the white coat in the seat crossed his legs, smoking a cigarette. He was tall, with a punk's head, which he had mended with a comb and gel, like a small black snake lying on top of it, with a sniff of goatee on his chin. What impressed Du Ping the most was that behind his round glasses was a pair of narrow eyes like a fox's, which made one shiver.
After reading the letter from Du Ping's father, the fox-eyed doctor said to Du Ping lightly, "Go to this room." The voice was sharp and hoarse, causing Du Ping's goosebumps to jump out. Then the fox-eyed doctor walked towards Du Ping, who instinctively resisted. Du Ping also smelled the scent of formalin on Du Ping's body, which Du Ping had smelled in chemistry class before, but it was mixed with a faint fragrance that made Du Ping unconsciously relax and follow him into the room.
There were all sorts of instruments in the room that Du Ping didn't understand. He obediently followed the fox's eyes for a few experiments, but all he did was complete some movements on his own. Then he asked a few questions, such as: What would you do if you saw a coin on the ground? Will you continue to eat in this hotel if there are too many people here? And so on and so forth. Then Fox led Du Ping out of the room. Du Ping secretly thought that this was probably the so-called spiritual appraisal.
After coming out, the fox eye doctor said to Du Ping's parents: "The personality split, the payment rules are on the letter, A, B, C three choices." Du Ping's father immediately took out a stack of red notes, nodded, and said, "Choose C, choose C!" His expression was as if he had just pulled away a lump of relief.
It was then that Du Ping felt his brain working, as if he had understood what was happening, and he dashed out from behind the fox eye doctor, rushing towards the door. At this moment, Du Ping's so-called father seemed to have predicted it all, and stopped Du Ping in his tracks, and Du Ping hurriedly turned around in an attempt to find another way out, but the next thing he saw was a small spray bottle in the hand of the fox eye doctor. The fragrant liquid dripped onto Du Ping's face, and Du Ping's vision blurred, his vision blurred, his eyelids grew heavier, and his hands and feet lost consciousness …
