C7 Chapter 6

Huexiang

The sun rays blinded his eyes, he opened his eyes and blinked before getting up to seat at the edge of his bed.

‘Why did I even slept for so long?’ he wondered, without any further thought, he stood up and sent for his servant.

“Good mo…”

“Prepare water for my bath Longwei” he ordered interrupting his servant from his greetings.

Yu Longwei bowed. “Of course your majesty”

He sat on the chair facing the window, lowered his head and closed his eyes.

He was thinking about the discussion of last night, he really wished for a way to change his father’s decision.

But what could he do?

Despite the fact that he was the most feared person in the entire kingdom, his father had vowed not to change his mind.

He drummed his white slender fingers on his lap and waited till his servants finished heating up the water.

There must be a way he could tell his father that he wasn’t interested in getting married.

How would he care for some other girl apart from his mother and sister? How would he start a family when he’s always at wars?

“Your majesty, everything is ready” Yu Longwei’s voice made him open his bluish black eyes.

He stood up and walked towards the bathroom.

Meanwhile,

Emperor Xie Mingze was having breakfast with his family on the dining room. He still looked quite young even though he was in his middle fifties. He was also good looking, with long eyelashes, and a jet black hair. Wearing his red robe made him look more handsome and one wouldn’t fail to recognize him as the powerful emperor of Huexiang.

Next in the dinning table was the royal empress Gu Zongying, she was wearing a smile on her beautiful face. Her long hair was in a bun hairstyle and her beautiful phoenix crown was seating on her head.

“Look, here’s brother” the young princess Xie Peizhi pointed at the figure dressed in an indigo colored robe climbing down the staircase.

Xie Peizhi was the only daughter of the emperor and empress of Huexiang, and of course she’s popularly known as the most beautiful girl in the entire empire. Her hair as black as ebony, skin as white as snow and her beautiful pink lips. Her beauty even bloomed the more after she performed her hairpin ceremony six years ago.

Xie Peizhi stood up and went towards her brother.

He looked more charming in his indigo colored hanfu, and high ebony black ponytail hair. His V-shaped jawline and thin lips made him more handsome, and even his walking posture exuded power. Though one wouldn’t know that he was emperor Xie Mingze’s son as he never inherited any of his physical looks.

Xie Yuxuan looked a bit more like his mother, he also had the same V-shaped jawline, extremely long hair and tall height just like she does.

He was also considered the prince with the most longest hair.

Xie Yuxuan’s eyes were more like an obsidian glass, as it seems to be blue and black in color. He descended the staircase with his hands on his back and his head lowered.

His sister was walking towards him.

“Why don’t you smile a little brother, is this how you’re going to frown for your wife?” she asked as she held his right hand and they both walked towards the dinning table.

Xie Yuxuan smiled a little, his little sister liked teasing him for everything.

“Good morning father, good morning mother” he bowed slightly before taking his seat beside Xie Peizhi.

He doesn’t felt like eating the food on the table, he lowered his head and continued drumming his finger on his lap.

“Why aren’t you eating anything?” emperor Xie Mingze asked after noticing his cold expression.

“Father, brother is thinking about how beautiful his wife would be. Perhaps you should send for a portrait of the girl here” Xie Peizhi chimed in laughing with her mouth filled with meat.

Xie Yuxuan took an angry look at his sister. “Mother, you should teach your daughter some manners before I do” he glared at her.

“Xie Peizhi, I teach you some manners before Xie Yuxuan does” empress Gu Zongying said in laughter.

“Ahem” the emperor cleared his throat, this was a sign that he wanted to talk about something serious.

“Xie Yuxuan, the emperor of Zhangqian had responded to us. He had….”

Xie Yuxuan stood up in dissatisfaction.

“Where are you going? I’m not done talking” emperor Xie Mingze asked quite annoyed.

“I’m sorry father, I didn’t mean to sound rude but I have to go now, my soldiers are waiting for me” he turned to leave.

The emperor abruptly stood up from the table and walked after his son.

“Xie Yuxuan, how many time do I have to explain this?” he asked as they ascended the stairs.

“Father, I don’t want to get married. I’ve also explained this to you yesterday. I wouldn’t be able to take care of the girl. Give Xie Peizhi out to one of his sons” he replied not trying to sound discourteous.

“But you told me that you were going to think about it last night”

Xie Yuxuan sighed deeply as he stood beside his father.

“You’ll have to prepare for it. We probably don’t have to make it public. Let’s just keep it a secret”

Xie Yuxuan nodded. “Fine, I’ll have to see the girl first. I hope she is not ill-mannered like other princesses” he grumbled.

Many princesses he had came across were nothing but spoilt brats.

“Your should go, the emperor and his matchmaker had chosen tomorrow , you go then she’ll come here with you”

Xie Yuxuan didn’t respond to this, he just walked away quietly.

The emperor walked after him.

“Alright, I’ll leave tomorrow”

Xie Yuxuan wished the girl should also hate him like others, or she should be scared about the false rumors surrounding him.

Who said girls die after seeing him?

Rumormongers would start spreading false rumors if they can’t find anything more to gossip about.

His father left him while he went down to the field to meet his soldiers all standing in a row.

“Your majesty” they greeted him and bowed simultaneously.

“You may all rise” his eyes scanned the field.

The hundred plus soldiers were smartly clad in black clothes Carrying their sword and shield in their hands.

He could guess that his father had already informed the servants to start making arrangements.

‘Tomorrow, a new bride will be brought here’

Xie Yuxuan didn’t know why he had mixed feelings about this.

Perhaps there might be something strange about the girl he was going to get married to. Anyways, tomorrow he was going to know everything about her.
