C13 The Audacious Man

"Still haven't learned your lesson?" Chenyu narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing within them.

Even with her back to him, Geyao could feel a chill creeping up her spine, her heart pounding in her chest.

"No, I just..."

Geyao's mind raced, trying to think of a way to persuade him. But before she could say anything, a sudden chill enveloped her body.

Her dress...

"Ah... you jerk, let go! Please... no! I'm sorry, I won't do it again, please let me go!"

Oh God, he was serious!

Geyao finally realized the terrifying nature of this man. Even in the office, he had no reservations.

Pinned against the sofa with no way out, she was painfully aware of her vulnerability. Behind her, she could faintly hear the sound of a belt being unbuckled.

Panic surged through her.

"Don't come any closer, I won't run, I promise I won't run again!"

She finally understood that in his world, he was the ultimate authority.

Whatever he wanted to do, everyone would comply without question, and no one would come to her rescue.

Because everyone in the city knew that once this man set his mind on something, nothing could stop him.

"I won't run anymore, please don't do this." Shen Geyao curled up in the corner of the couch, her expression frantic, on the verge of tears.

Growing up, she had never been this cornered. Even when bullied, she believed she could find a way to get back at them. But with this man, she had no idea how to handle him.

"I was wrong..." she admitted.

Why did fate have to bring her face-to-face with someone so terrifying?

"Then tell me, what did you do wrong?" The man's voice was thick with a restrained impulse, growing hoarser.

Sensing his actions pause, Shen Geyao glimpsed a ray of hope and, against her better judgment, said, "I shouldn't have run!"

Of course, there was another thought lurking in her subconscious: Not running would have been foolish!

"So... are you still thinking of running?" His long fingers brushed against her ear, lifting the strands of hair that had fallen.

"No more running, no more!" She shook her head vigorously like a bobblehead.

Her pitiful demeanor completely amused the man, softening his guard.

Hearing this, Liang Chenyu's lips curled into a satisfied smirk, the look of a victor.

Even he couldn't understand why, from last night until now, he was so fixated on this woman. Investments in small projects like Galaxy Anime usually didn't interest him, nor did he have the time for them.

He had heard that this 'cunning' woman worked here, so he came. In the past, a small company like Galaxy Anime would never have caught his investment interest—it would have been a pipe dream. But he was here for her.

Watching this timid yet sly little figure beneath him, he felt an inexplicable joy. Finally, Liang Chenyu released the girl. Shen Geyao, now free, rolled off the couch, quickly grabbing the clothes he had tossed aside and putting them on at lightning speed. It seemed that only when she was dressed could she face this man without feeling so vulnerable.

As soon as she was dressed, Shen Geyao instinctively took a couple of steps back, slowly edging toward the door. Suddenly, a playful yet indifferent voice broke the silence, "Trying to escape again?"

Liang Chenyu sat on the couch, legs crossed, staring intently at her. Shen Geyao's heart skipped a beat, and her legs almost gave way beneath her, her face on the verge of tears. Hadn't he released her to let her go? Was he already changing his mind? That was fast!

"What are you thinking?" Liang Chenyu seemed to notice her confusion. Leaning back on the couch, he picked up the glass of wine from the table and toyed with it in his hand. "The proposal—you have ten minutes."

"Proposal?"

Shen Geyao finally remembered her task upon entering the room. She took a deep breath, quickly adjusting her mindset, reminding herself not to dwell on the other person's earlier rude behavior. She was part of Galaxy Anime, and the entire company had invested a lot into this partnership. She needed to do her part.

Besides, even if she tried to escape, the company's boss and all the managers would probably drag her back and deliver her to the Ninth Master themselves.

Understanding the situation, Shen Geyao hesitated for a moment before finally picking up the proposal from the floor and returning to stand in front of Liang Chenyu.

"I'll just read it as it is. I don't really understand the whole plan."
