C43 Why Is There Still a Pile of Them?
"Does your uncle get drunk this easily?" A deep, alluring voice came from across the dining table.
Chenyu Liang remained leaned back in his chair, clearly a bit tipsy. His slightly intoxicated gaze fell on the glass in Geyao Shen's hand. He moved his lips slightly and tugged at his collar, "Bring it over."
That simple gesture of adjusting his collar was enough to make the girls watching him from a distance nearly gasp. Imagine a man so handsome that a casual move could leave girls breathless!
As he tugged at his collar, their eyes were drawn to his slightly exposed collarbone. The sight of his alluring collarbone made hearts race and breaths quicken. Each one of them wished they could tear his shirt off completely, revealing his strong, muscular chest. Some even fantasized about gently caressing his well-toned body.
His enticing Adam's apple made the girls want to lean in and give it a gentle nibble. He was the heartthrob of the city, captivating everyone with his charm. Even if they couldn't catch his eye for a moment all night, they'd still go to great lengths, using all their resources to please the Liang family just for a chance to see him.
As Geyao walked over with the drink, she could feel the envious and admiring glances from all around.
To be honest, this man was exceptionally handsome, a rare find indeed, but she had no desire to get close to him. As she approached Liang Chenyu, she softly said, "Uncle, I toast to you." She hoped that after this drink, she wouldn't have to toast him again, as she had no wish to be near him.
Liang Chenyu finally reached out to take her glass. His long fingers subtly squeezed the back of her hand. Startled, Shen Geyao's fingers trembled, and the glass slipped from her hand, spilling onto Liang Chenyu's lap.
"Wow," gasps erupted around the table. Faces changed color at the table. How could this girl be so clumsy? What if she angered the Ninth Master?
Liang Xinghao immediately stood up, "Uncle, I'm sorry, Yao didn't mean to." He glanced at the surrounding staff, "Why aren't you cleaning up for Uncle?"
The maid snapped to attention, grabbed a napkin, and hurried to Liang Chenyu's side, but hesitated to get too close. The Ninth Master didn't like women getting near him, and every servant who had been with the Liang family for more than a month knew this.
"Ninth Master," the maid stammered, unsure of what to do. The drink had spilled on the Ninth Master's leg, soaking a part of his pants, right on the thigh.
Would you dare touch the Ninth Master's leg, knowing he might kick you so hard you'd feel it in your lungs?
Not long ago, a maid tried to seduce the Ninth Master by pretending to fall into his arms. She didn't even get close before his people had her out the door, banned from ever stepping foot in the family estate again. She was genuinely terrified.
Liang Chenyu lounged back in his chair with an air of lazy elegance, exuding an undeniable sense of authority. His gaze slowly settled on Shen Geyao, his lips barely moving as he spoke, "Hasn't anyone ever taught you to take responsibility for your mistakes?"
"I-" Shen Geyao hesitated. It wasn't that she didn't want to take responsibility, but she had spilled something on his pants, and the location was just too awkward!
Suddenly, the napkin in the maid's hand was snatched away by Liang Chenyu. With a casual flick, he tossed it, hitting Shen Geyao square in the face.
People had thought Shen Geyao was inexplicably favored by the Ninth Master, different from other women. Some even speculated about a special relationship between them, especially after seeing them dance together.
But now, with that napkin toss, all those rumors vanished instantly.
Ninth Master was still the same old Ninth Master, just as impatient with women as ever, not changing a bit because of Shen Geyao. It seemed they were overthinking things.
Shen Geyao actually felt relieved. With Liang Chenyu being so rough with her, at least most of the doubts people had should be dispelled. She definitely didn’t want anyone thinking there was something between her and Liang Chenyu.
Expressionless, she caught the napkin that slipped off her face and crouched down to dab at the wine stain on Liang Chenyu's pants. But the spot was really awkward! It was her own fault—why did her hand have to shake? Now she was the one in trouble.
The wine had spilled all over his leg, reaching almost up to his waist. How was she supposed to clean that? Fortunately, everyone seemed to be caught up in their drinks, not paying her any attention. Only Liang Xinghao occasionally glanced her way.
Shen Geyao was sweating from the awkwardness, and just as she thought she was done and was about to stand up, she heard Liang Chenyu’s husky, alcohol-laden voice from above, “Dirty!”
Shen Geyao bit her lip, nearly losing her temper! She had already cleaned it up; the stains that remained were impossible to remove. Those pants were a lost cause! But she had done all she could.
"Why is there still a mess here?" Chenyu glanced down at her, suddenly grabbing her small hand and guiding it to his lower abdomen.
Geyao's eyes widened in shock, and she tried to pull her hand back with all her strength. But his grip, though seemingly casual, was too strong to resist. Her hand was forced to rest on his abdomen, but since she was crouched down, no one could see.
Geyao took a moment to steady her breathing before carefully continuing to wipe him with a napkin. Above them, a few men were still clinking glasses.
The brothers were trying to discuss business with Chenyu, but he showed no interest, focusing only on his drink. Eventually, they gave up and continued drinking with him.
Geyao finally finished wiping him down, her face flushed and sweating from the tension. She returned to Xinghao's side and whispered, "I'm not feeling well. I think I need to go rest."
Xinghao assumed she was startled by his uncle, so he set down his glass and looked at his father and uncles. "Yao's not feeling well. I'll take her home to rest and come back later."
No one spoke. The Eldest Master nodded, and Xinghao left with Geyao.
The banquet hall was right next to the main house. Once they stepped out, Geyao let out a deep sigh of relief.
"Feeling the pressure?" Xinghao's voice was a bit husky, tinged with the effects of alcohol.
Geyao could tell he had quite a bit to drink too. She shook her head, then nodded. "Yeah, a little."
"Even we can't always figure out my uncle's moods. No need to worry about it."
As some guests moved ahead, Xinghao gently pulled Geyao closer, wrapping her in a light embrace.
"But don't worry, he never gets close to women. By tomorrow, he'll have forgotten all about it."
