C4 Chapter 4 I’ll Go for Dinner Tonight

She didn't know how long she'd been standing there, and it took her a BIG while to put herself together. Then she took a bus to a villa.

Getting off the bus, she was greeted by the ocean breeze. She took a deep breath and went straight into the villa.

The instant she entered the living room, a middle-aged woman came running towards her and threw herself in her arms.

"Arther! Finally! You came to see me." The middle-aged woman sobbed.

Kora's heart tightened and she stretched out her hand to look at the woman in her arms. "Mom, hey, I am your daughter." That man hurt her mother deeply. And mom,…still wanted him so bad?

Tears suffused in Becky's eyes, and she was stunned. "Oh …"

"Mom, it's me." Kora pursed her lips, and her smile was full of bitterness.

"I learned a new song recently; I'll play it for you."

Becky looked sad just now, but instead, she trotted to the piano and sat down, and then began to play. Her behaviour was just like a little girl.

Kora stood by and quietly enjoyed the song. At this time, there was a familiar female voice behind her.

"Kora, it's nice to see you back."

The woman was a private doctor Kora hired for her mother. Usually, she was busy with her work and had no time to take care of her. Having someone to take care of Becky was the least Kora could do.

"Is my mother still the same recently?" Based on what just happened, she could easily tell that her mother's condition hadn't improved a bit.

Kora stayed with her mother until she rested and fell asleep before leaving.

After leaving the villa, she took out a cigarette from her bag. That could give her a moment of peace.

"Kora, I got you a new play—70 million dollars! I heard that their boss appointed you as the heroine, and he arranged a dinner tonight. I know you don't like to socialize, so I will go in person instead."

Kora picked up the paperwork on the tea table, and looked into it. When she saw the name of the investment company, she was in a daze. How could it…be??!! She almost pinched the paper into half.

"YM Group has its own cinema and the crew, don't worry about office …"

Kora hid her emotions and pretended be calm. "I will accompany you to dinner tonight."

"But…you never attend any social parties!" Todd was shocked. "No, I can't let you go to the dinner tonight." Tonight's investors were notorious in the industry, and he wouldn't let her fall into the trap.

Kora put the paper in the bag. "I'm available today. I will go back to prep myself. Pick me up tonight."

"But Jack is a FAMOUS PERVERT! If I take you there, I am afraid that you will never come back."

"Just take me there." She has been in the entertainment industry for so many years, and she had a hard time waiting for this moment. She would never let the chance slip away.

After Kora left, Todd looked sad. This investor was a famous player, and he was "dedicated" to "pursuing" female celebrities. The women he played with? None of them ended up well. He couldn't bear to give his little Kora to the wolf.
