C1 The Bar Was Forcefully Kissed
This is a man's world.
The most upscale bar in the city was packed, buzzing with energy. The air was a mix of smoke and alcohol, while the stage was alive with dazzling lights and loud music. The dance floor was a frenzy of movement, yet every eye was drawn to the woman singing on stage.
She had an incredible voice.
Her clear, captivating tone was like a siren's call. Effortlessly, she hit notes from the lowest to the highest, her eyes closed, her voice pure and resonant. The background music was just a simple drum and electric guitar, yet it created a mesmerizing effect.
People on the dance floor kept moving, but many sat quietly at their tables, sipping drinks and soaking in the performance.
The sound waves washed over the crowd like a vast ocean under the moonlight, or an endless starry sky, impossible to resist or ignore. It was a captivating experience from start to finish.
A powerful electric guitar solo followed, with drums and bass gradually joining in, quickening the pace. The intense rhythm was like a dancing flame, igniting the hearts of everyone in the audience.
The woman's once clear voice took on a slightly husky and breathless quality after hitting those high notes. As the song ended, she stood on stage, her chest rising and falling as she caught her breath. Her voice was like a dazzling poppy, each note exuding an irresistible allure, akin to the strongest opiate or the most enchanting siren, making it impossible to resist the temptation of her song.
No one paid much attention to her otherwise simple, pretty face. With the final beat of the music, she ended on a high note, touched her lips with her fingertips, and blew a kiss to the audience before swiftly retreating backstage to a chorus of enthusiastic whistles.
In her private dressing room, she changed clothes and sat in a chair, breathing softly. Dressed in a crisp white shirt and black pants, Soong Qian appeared particularly gentle and endearing, her delicate face flushed with a hint of pink.
On stage, she was a radiant star, her specialty being songs that spanned four vocal ranges. Off stage, she transformed into a gentle, soft-spoken woman, her demeanor inviting and approachable. Yet, those who knew her well understood that beneath her gentle exterior lay an unyielding strength and determination that couldn't be concealed.
"Qian, here's your pay for today." The bar owner walked over, handing an envelope to Soong Qian with a warm smile. "You did great; today's sales doubled again."
Qian took the envelope without checking the amount. She'd been working part-time here for a while and trusted the owner not to shortchange her.
The owner's smile widened as he rubbed the back of his head, speaking softly, "Qian, are you heading to the hospital to see your mom now?"
"Yeah." Qian nodded while gathering her things, her voice gentle and smooth. "I'm going to stop by the restroom first."
