C17 Disguise
She was drenched in sweat from singing all night, strands of hair sticking to her forehead and cheeks. Yet, instead of looking disheveled, she exuded a captivating allure. After her performance, the young woman left the stage without a word, leaving the audience clamoring for more.
Yann Jincheng glanced at Sunn Yuanhann with a teasing look, his tone cool, "Well, Director Sunn, this woman isn't quite what you expected, is she?"
"Yeah," Sunn Yuanhann murmured, swirling a glass of red wine, lost in his thoughts.
Yann Jincheng chuckled, his lips curling slightly as he returned to his work. Unbeknownst to him, Sunn Yuanhann, who had been looking down, suddenly raised his head. His eyes, deep and intense, were fixed on the stage where the young woman had just been.
With long legs crossed, he sat on the sofa, maintaining his charming demeanor. His narrow eyes were locked on the stage, his gaze unfathomable.
Soong Qian felt like her luck had run out lately. Just after finishing her song and collecting her pay from the boss, she ran into a man she had no desire to see.
Sunn Yuanhann was sprawled unceremoniously over his Maserati, his usually sharp eyes now half-closed and hazy, a cloud of alcohol surrounding him. Soong Qian, with her keen sense of smell, could detect it the moment she got close.
She stopped in her tracks, glancing over at Sunn. She had no intention of being a do-gooder again, only to be accused of having ulterior motives. That feeling left her quite annoyed.
Yet, after observing for a while and seeing no one else stepping up to help Sunn, who was left leaning against his car in the cool night breeze, she couldn't help but shake her head. Finally, she walked over to him and gently nudged him, her voice soft and gentle, unlike the stern tone she used on stage earlier. "Wake up."
Sunn stirred slightly at her touch, his eyes opening in a daze. He looked at Soong with a vague recognition, a faint smile replacing his usual aloof expression.
Soong was momentarily taken aback. She had planned to step back quickly when Sunn woke up, just in case he tried to kiss her again. But to her surprise, nothing of the sort happened this time.
Soong Qian nudged Sunn Yuanhann again, her voice tinged with concern, "What's wrong? Don't sleep here; you should head back."
Yuanhann, a bit annoyed, brushed off Soong Qian's hand. He mumbled something under his breath, but even standing so close, Soong Qian couldn't make out his words.
Finally, with no other option, Soong Qian did what she had done before. She carefully draped Yuanhann's arm over her shoulders, fished the car keys from his pocket, and opened the passenger door, settling him inside.
Sliding into the driver's seat, Soong Qian inserted the key into the ignition, turned it, and pressed down on the gas pedal. The car surged forward with a burst of speed.
A Maserati is definitely a cut above the average car; its speed is noticeably faster.
