C14 This Was too Picky

Ann Xiaomin took the business card handed to her by Mr. Lei and smiled, "Thank you, Mr. Lei."

Even though her first impression of him wasn't great, in this industry, knowing more people is never a bad thing.

"Time's tight, and we still need to get our makeup done. Let's hurry inside."

"Alright."

Mr. Lei didn't dare waste any more time and led Ann Xiaomin and Luh Xinxin backstage.

The backstage area was even more luxurious than Ann Xiaomin had imagined. Each model had their own makeup artist, and a few top models had two or three staff members attending to them. Everyone was bustling around busily.

It was Ann Xiaomin's first time in such a high-end backstage, and her eyes lit up.

If only she were a regular model, she wouldn't have to go to small car shows or do commercial events. Just walking in brand shows would make her a fortune.

Mr. Lei respectfully introduced Ann Xiaomin and Luh Xinxin to a fashionably dressed woman who seemed to be in charge, "Ms. Xia, these are the two substitute models we found."

The woman, referred to as Ms. Xia, looked to be around thirty, dressed in a stylish business outfit with impeccable makeup, exuding a strong and confident aura. She glanced over Luh Xinxin and Ann Xiaomin before calling out to her staff, "They'll do. Xiao Chen, take them to get their makeup done."

Soon, a girl named Xiao Chen led Ann Xiaomin and Luh Xinxin to change into simple robes and then took them to the makeup area. There was only one empty seat at the makeup station, so Luh Xinxin was seated first, while Ann Xiaomin waited nearby.

While the makeup artist stepped out to restock supplies, Luh Xinxin took the opportunity to warn Ann Xiaomin.

"Xiaomin, even though Mr. Lei has a lot of connections, he's a bit of a flirt. The way he looks at you is concerning, so be careful."

Ann Xiaomin's beauty was different from Luh Xinxin's. If Xinxin was a rose, then Xiaomin was a daisy, exuding a fresh and pure charm that captivated men used to heavy makeup and bold looks.

Having been in the industry for a while, Xinxin could easily interpret the look in Mr. Lei's eyes when he gazed at Xiaomin. Ann Xiaomin wasn't naive either; she could tell Mr. Lei wasn't a good guy.

"Got it," Xiaomin replied.

They were about to continue their conversation when the makeup artist returned, so they fell silent.

Just then, Ms. Xia emerged from the designer's temporary office, her earlier calm demeanor replaced with a hint of panic. She called a few of the top models into the designer's office, and soon they came back out.

Ms. Xia then called in a few more models with great figures, and the same thing happened—they went in and came back out, replaced by another group.

Some of the models who hadn't been called in yet asked those who had just returned, "What did you guys do in there?"

"We just went in for a look from the head designer, Mr. Xu. He didn't say anything, just shook his head, and then Ms. Xia told us to leave. But wow, Mr. Xu is even more handsome in person than in the magazines!"

As the conversation shifted, the topic of models was completely overshadowed by everyone talking about how handsome the designer, Mr. Xu, was. Ann Xiaomin lost interest and stopped paying attention.

Most of the models had already been in and out, but it seemed none had met Mr. Xu's standards. Even Ms. Xia called in Ann Xiaomin and Luh Xinxin, who were just temporary stand-ins.

A total of six people went in with Ann Xiaomin and Luh Xinxin. On the way, Ann Xiaomin asked Luh Xinxin, "What kind of model do you think this designer is looking for? So many models with great figures, and none have caught his eye. Isn't that a bit too picky?"
