C5 I Slapped Young Master Gu

Gu Junbai halted his long strides, casting a glance at the two people embracing in the yard. His exquisitely handsome face darkened completely as he gritted his teeth. "Bring me my soft leather mask."

In the front yard, Ann Xiaomin and Gu Xiurann were still arguing about her leaving. "Xiurann, I was with Gu Junbai last night. There's no turning back now."

"Knowing you're mine, you still dare to mess around with another man? You're asking for it," a cold male voice interrupted before Gu Xiurann could respond.

Gu Junbai stood not far away, backlit by the sun. Ann Xiaomin couldn't make out his face, only his tall, commanding figure. He was accompanied by Steward Ning and several burly bodyguards.

Both Ann Xiaomin and Gu Xiurann were startled. To Gu Junbai, their reaction seemed guilty, confirming his suspicions of an affair. He moved toward them with long strides, like a grim reaper from the depths of hell, exuding an icy chill.

It was the first time Ann Xiaomin saw Gu Junbai's face clearly. It wasn't just a simple disfigurement; his face was so burned it resembled a ghost. No wonder Hsu Yaying called off the engagement—it was terrifying. She quickly averted her gaze.

Since the news of Gu Junbai's burns broke, this was his first public appearance. Gu Xiurann was both shocked and secretly pleased at the sight of Gu Junbai's ghastly visage.

Gu Junbai noticed Ann Xiaomin glance at him briefly before looking away, her eyes filled with disdain. However, what was more evident was his uncontrollable anger.

"Someone, get Xiurann out of Prosperous Garden," he barked.

At his command, the bodyguards behind him stepped forward, each taking one of Gu Xiurann's arms and dragging him toward the exit. Xiurann knew Gu Junbai was always arrogant, but he never expected his half-brother to treat him this way. Despite being the Second Young Master of the family, he was powerless against the burly, well-trained bodyguards. His handsome face twisted with frustration.

"Gu Junbai, how dare you treat me like this? Tell them to let go!"

Gu Junbai let out a cold snort, looking down at Xiurann with nothing but disdain and contempt. Even though his face was marred by burns, his innate charisma was intimidating.

"Do you really think you're important? Xiurann, remember your place. You're just the illegitimate child of a woman of ill repute. Do you really think you're the Second Young Master of the family?"

Normally, Gu Junbai's words, though sharp, were measured. But when it came to Xiurann, he held nothing back. Steward Ning sighed inwardly at the scene.

Gu Junbai's words hit Xiurann where it hurt most, and he erupted in fury.

"Gu Junbai, you can't talk about my mom like that."

"Oh, I'm just stating facts. Your mom was always—"

A sharp slap cut off Gu Junbai's words. Ann Xiaomin glared at him, her face painted with bright makeup.

"Don't you dare speak about Auntie Xin that way."

Ann Xiaomin and Gu Xiurann were neighbors, having grown up together like childhood friends. Ann called Gu Xiurann's mother Auntie Xin. In her memories, Auntie Xin was always a kind and gentle woman. Now that she had passed away, hearing Gu Junbai insult a deceased elder infuriated Ann Xiaomin.

With that slap, it felt as if time itself had paused.
