C13 The Instructor Was too Mean

Colonel Cleo hesitated before speaking, "This doesn't seem right. She's a doctor, a civilian; we don't have the authority to train her."

Edi responded icily, "I am the highest-ranking officer here. As she is a doctor within our Flying Eagle Combat Group, I have every right to discipline her."

With no other choice, Cleo replied emphatically, "Yes, Commander! I will relay your orders to Sergeant Yang Chuxia as you wish."

Unbeknownst to Yang Chuxia, her true strength had been inadvertently revealed by a mere Weight Increasing Machine! Upon receiving the device, she immediately attached it to her belt without glancing at the displayed data. She was only aware of its significant weight, which instinctively made her rise to the challenge.

Yang Chuxia was born to parents from a martial arts lineage. Before settling on Mother Planet, they made a living running a martial arts school. Immersed in her parents' passion for martial arts, Yang Chuxia mastered the art to a high degree.

Yet this was merely the tip of the iceberg. From a young age, her parents had also taught her the secrets of internal energy. Even after their passing, she continued her practice, automatically entering a state of cultivation each night after sleep.

Martial arts, with its rich history and depth, had become a thing of legend by the 29th century. The martial arts of the Yang family had been passed down for over two thousand years, exclusively within their lineage, never shared with outsiders.

Few were aware that their family still possessed the knowledge of internal energy cultivation. With the disappearance of martial arts, internal energy had become extinct, its unleashed power now beyond scientific explanation, often mistaken for superhuman abilities by scientists.

Since the 23rd century, genetic mutations had given rise to individuals with special abilities. Scientists were particularly enamored with such individuals, and anyone rumored to possess superpowers was promptly sent to a laboratory.

Those whose abilities could be scientifically verified found themselves in favorable circumstances. However, those who eluded detection were destined to remain in the lab indefinitely, serving as lab rats.

While Yang Chuxia's parents were considered to have above-average martial arts talent, Yang Chuxia herself exhibited extraordinary martial arts prowess from a young age. Moreover, her practice of internal energy was exceptionally efficient, yielding significant results with minimal effort.

To protect their daughter, Yang Chuxia's parents had always forbidden her from revealing her knowledge of internal energy, except in life-or-death situations.

Yang Chuxia had faithfully followed her parents' wishes, only showcasing her external martial arts skills. It wasn't until her battle with Edi, when she was taken aback by his formidable strength, that she hesitated for a moment, considering using her internal energy to defeat him. Ultimately, she restrained herself.

Completing the grueling five-kilometer weighted run was no small feat for the new recruits, who all stepped off the track to rest for ten minutes.

Yang Chuxia, intentionally concealing her true capabilities, didn't push herself to run too quickly. Considering her current role as a doctor, it seemed reasonable that she would be the last to enter and, consequently, the last to leave the track.

So, she purposefully lagged behind, knowing that finishing within the allotted time was all that mattered. She thought she had planned well, but reality had other ideas. Just as she was about to exit the track...

Instructor Cleo suddenly declared, "Soldier Yang Chuxia, keep running until the Weight Increasing Machine signals a warning. The rest of you, immediately assemble in the combat training room to begin your training."

Yang Chuxia was taken aback!

The other recruits were equally shocked but quickly scattered toward the combat training room under Instructor Cleo's stern commands, some casting sympathetic glances back at her.

"Instructor?" Yang Chuxia called out, puzzled.

"Go... Run!" Instructor Cleo ordered, his face devoid of emotion.

With no choice but to comply, Yang Chuxia turned and resumed running, inwardly grumbling, "It's just four broken Weight Increasing Machines. It's not like I broke them; I just ended up with the faulty ones. Instructor Cleo is really holding a grudge, resorting to such tactics for revenge."

Nevertheless, having committed to the training, she was determined to follow through. She didn't want to drop out over such an incident. She was eager to learn about aviation and absorb all the knowledge related to spacefaring vessels.

But above all, her true aspiration was to become a Mecha Soldier, specifically to pilot Light Mecha, not Heavy Mecha. The thought of donning a Mecha suit and exuding the commanding presence of a celestial warrior filled Yang Chuxia with an intense longing.

After clocking another ten kilometers, the Weight Increasing Machine's readout had dropped to 60 kilograms. Yang Chuxia felt an exhaustion like never before in her life, so overwhelming that she longed to collapse onto the track and sleep. She wondered if her body would be delightfully sore the next day.

Yet, without an overload warning from the Weight Increasing Machine, she couldn't stop. All she could do was slow her pace and continue to jog forward. She yearned to walk, but hesitated, unsure if Instructor Cleo would accept an apology. Would he forgive her?

Despite the temperate climate, Instructor Cleo was sweating profusely. He had assumed Yang Chuxia might run five more kilometers before the Weight Increasing Machine would signal a warning. But she had surpassed that, running an extra ten kilometers!

Had he not seen the weight data decrease to 60 kilograms on the monitor, he might have thought the machine was malfunctioning. Now, he was more convinced that Yang Chuxia possessed some extraordinary ability. There seemed to be no other explanation for this superhuman feat.

Upon receiving Instructor Cleo's report that Yang Chuxia had continued to run an additional ten kilometers while carrying a 60-kilogram load, Edi dropped everything. He activated the Sky Eye over the track to watch her.

Yang Chuxia's performance shook Edi's skepticism. This didn't appear to be the product of training; it suggested she might have a special ability, one she herself was possibly unaware of.
