C19 He Was Unlucky
Yang Chuxia suddenly realized that from the moment she first laid eyes on Edi, she had been continuously embarrassing herself! And this mysterious streak of bad luck seemed to be intensifying. It appeared that, unless necessary, it would be wise to keep her distance from him in the future! Silently, she withdrew to the passageway.
Edi trailed behind her, noticeably slowing his pace.
Sensing that she might be in his way, Yang Chuxia stepped aside to make room, suggesting, "General, why don't you go ahead and eat? Once I've taken care of my nose, I'll come find you."
Edi glanced at her still-bleeding nose and frowned, "It's not actually broken, is it? I'm not even wearing a Mecha, and yet your nose seems overly sensitive."
Yang Chuxia was seething. If he hadn't forcefully caused her to bump into him again, her nose wouldn't have been injured! However, recalling that her nosebleed was initially due to her own infatuation, she found herself unable to direct her anger at Edi.
With a disheartened tone, the young girl remarked, "General, your mastery of the Golden Bell Cover and Iron Shirt is unparalleled! My nosebleed from the collision is nothing out of the ordinary."
Edi gave her a half-smile and teased, "To my knowledge, the Golden Bell Cover and Iron Shirt techniques you mentioned are only meant to be practiced by virgins."
Yang Chuxia was at a loss for words, staring at him in astonishment. She was almost ready to ask if Edi was a kindred spirit.
With a chuckle, Edi gently pressed on her shoulder, nudging her forward, "Come on, let's get moving. Otherwise, you might need a blood transfusion."
Ultimately, Yang Chuxia decided to head to the treatment room on her own. Her nose was unlikely to be broken, just bruised. After receiving a coagulant injection, she emerged from the treatment room.
Edi had gone to the dining hall. She hesitated briefly but then made her way there as well. She couldn't let his presence stop her from eating, could she?
From a distance, she spotted Sean leaning against a tree outside the dining hall, smoking. Remembering how she had unfairly taken her frustrations out on him earlier, Yang Chuxia felt a twinge of guilt and approached him with determined strides.
Sean spotted her and hastily discarded the cigarette he was holding, approaching with a warm smile. "Dr. Yang, the general is inside, looking forward to dining with you!"
Yang Chuxia gave a nod, her tone tinged with embarrassment, "Sean, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have lost my temper with you earlier."
A gentle smile graced Sean's handsome features as he reassured her, "No worries! The fact that you felt comfortable enough to show your anger means you see me as a friend."
Comforted by Sean's empathy, Yang Chuxia suggested, "Then, from now on, don't call me Dr. Yang. Just call me Yang Chuxia."
Sean nodded in agreement and walked with her into the dining room reserved for senior officers.
Edi was sipping his soup when he noticed their arrival. He gestured with a nod of his chin for Yang Chuxia to take a seat.
Sean, ever the gentleman, pulled out a chair for her before seating himself. He then offered, "What would you like to eat? I can order for you."
After a moment's thought, Yang Chuxia replied, "Fried chicken—I haven't had that in ages! Let's also go with a green salad, a grilled steak, some caviar, a portion of crayfish, a bowl of rice, and a glass of lemon water, please. Thank you!"
She rattled off her order, only to pause and realize that not only was Sean watching her intently, but the senior officer nearby had also ceased eating to look at her.
Edi, unfazed, continued with his soup, casually inquiring, "Do you normally eat this much?"
Yang Chuxia silently berated herself, thinking, "I'd like to eat this much all the time, but the Intelligence System never provides anything I like. How could I possibly eat so much?" She candidly admitted, "The food I usually have is all rationed by the system, and I don't enjoy it."
Edi gave her a thoughtful look and instructed Sean, "Order everything Dr. Yang mentioned."
Snapping out of his brief stupor, Sean glanced at Yang Chuxia, acknowledged with a 'yes,' and headed to the service window to place the order.
Puzzled, Yang Chuxia questioned, "Why don't you have a robot to assist with ordering, like they do in restaurants?"
Edi explained, "We did have one, but it's been out of order for the past few days and is currently under repair."
Yang Chuxia asked curiously, "Is there really only one?"
Edi glanced at her and replied, "The control system is down, so naturally none of them are operational."
It seemed that many of the dining officers were intrigued by Edi's patience in explaining things to a woman. They ate their meals in silence, their ears perked up to catch the content of their conversation.
However, upon receiving a casual look from Edi, they quickly resumed their meals, engaging in conversation with their tablemates as if nothing had happened.
Just then, a tall, blonde female officer with striking blue eyes approached. She smiled at Edi and inquired, "General, is she your secretary?"
"Colonel Sofia! This is Yang Chuxia, Dr. Yang, the newest member of our Flying Eagle Combat Group," Edi introduced, seemingly unbothered by Sofia's probing.
Sean typically handled Edi's military affairs, and although his superiors had been keen to assign him a secretary, Edi had shown no interest in the female candidates and had sent them away. A male secretary had yet to be appointed.
Sofia's assumption that Yang Chuxia was Edi's new secretary was understandable.
Upon learning that she was the new military doctor, Sofia expressed her astonishment to Yang Chuxia, "So you're the doctor who sparred with General Edi for nearly fifteen minutes? You're so petite!" She seemed skeptical that such a thing could be true.
Unaware of her relationship with General Edi, Yang Chuxia stood up politely and greeted, "Hello, Colonel Sofia."
Sofia ignored her greeting, turning instead to Edi to ask, "General, may I sit here?"
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Yang Chuxia took her seat again.
Edi gave Sofia a measured look and responded, "It's not very convenient right now."
