C2 Insult
The laughter at the Fighting Field abruptly ceased, and everyone was left in shock!
To be called off the stage without a fight after stepping into the Fighting Field was the ultimate display of disrespect and an extreme humiliation for any soldier!
What made it worse was that the one who had called Yang Chuxia off was none other than the commander of the Flying Eagle Combat Group. Everyone felt secondhand embarrassment for Yang Chuxia!
Yang Chuxia was well aware of the slight. Initially stunned, she quickly became infuriated by Edi's actions! She looked up, her gaze burning into the icy demeanor of Edi, her lips quivering with anger! It was he who had summoned her, only to dismiss her just as quickly.
"General, may I know why you've asked me to leave the stage? Why did you choose me as your opponent only to send me away before the battle even began? Is it simply because you're the Supreme Commander here that you feel entitled to insult me at will?"
The Fighting Field fell into an eerie silence. Everyone was taken aback by Yang Chuxia's bravery, yet they also feared for her future. General Edi was known for his ironclad resolve; his word was his bond. His command for Yang Chuxia to leave the stage signaled that there was no turning back.
Edi puffed out his chest and looked down at Yang Chuxia with an impassive face. "Do you really think you can defeat me? With your petite stature?"
Height was Yang Chuxia's Achilles' heel, and Edi's words were like a sword reopening her deepest wound, causing her metaphorical blood to flow freely.
If not for her height and weight, Yang Chuxia would have preferred to join the army as a new recruit and head to the front lines to decimate the enemy, rather than serving as a doctor. In an era graced with the all-purpose Medical Cabin, patients didn't even need a doctor's assistance; they simply had to lie down in the Medical Cabin and activate it to initiate automatic diagnosis and treatment.
Only on the front lines, where Medical Cabins were scarce, or in cases of immediate emergency, did a doctor's presence become more than a mere formality. Naturally, intricate and complex surgeries still required the hands-on expertise of a surgeon.
The flames of humiliation and rage burned within Yang Chuxia, but she took a deep breath and forcefully suppressed them. Lifting her head once more, she addressed Edi, "General, with your keen vision, did you not immediately notice our height difference?"
Article 135 of the Alliance Army's code of conduct clearly states that members are not to insult their comrades without cause. Serious offenses could result in confinement for a month or more. Despite being fully aware of the height difference between us, the General still summoned me to the Fighting Platform...
She locked eyes with him and continued, "...yet he dismissed me from the platform before the fight even began, subjecting me to a mental affront. If the General does not provide a satisfactory explanation, I will lodge a formal complaint with the Army Discipline Department."
Edi scoffed, clearly unimpressed. Sure, a man might take pride in a woman's admiration, but it's quite vexing when she lacks discretion!
And a woman who finagles her way into the battle group I painstakingly built? That's as repulsive as finding a rat dropping in a pot of delicious soup!
With a look of disdain, Edi's gaze bore down on Yang Chuxia. "My combat group has no place for the useless. If you're unwilling to step down, then prove to me that you're a soldier worth keeping."
Yang Chuxia had already resolved to put this arrogant General in his place during her interrogation. Upon hearing his challenge, she sprang into action, delivering a powerful punch to Edi's abdomen.
Edi's eyebrow quirked in surprise at the force of the petite soldier's punch. He quickly drew back, catching Yang Chuxia's fist and counterattacking with an elbow strike to her shoulder.
Yang Chuxia swiftly pulled back her fist and leaned away, balancing on her right foot while her left foot shot out in a kick aimed at Edi's ribs. She moved with remarkable speed and precision.
Edi parried Yang Chuxia's left kick with his right hand and launched a kick of his own at her supporting right calf. As Yang Chuxia's left foot touched down, she lifted her right leg in a stomp toward Edi's left knee, while her left elbow aimed for his midsection.
Edi withdrew his left leg and pushed his right palm against Yang Chuxia's attacking elbow. Using the momentum of his push, Yang Chuxia executed a backward somersault, her feet launching a rapid succession of kicks at Edi's face, which he blocked with his forearms.
When Yang Chuxia first made contact, it felt as though she had kicked a steel plate, her feet throbbing and going numb with pain. In her surprise, she realized that a direct confrontation was futile; the gap in strength between them was simply too vast.
Edi, on the other hand, didn't feel any pain from Yang Chuxia's kicks, which were no more bothersome to him than a child's playful tickling. Yet, he couldn't help but silently praise her agility. He had clearly underestimated her.
Despite the brevity of their exchange due to their swift movements, they had already gone through more than ten moves. Yang Chuxia was the first to be less powerful than Edi but managed to evade his strikes. This made Edi take the fight seriously.
The Fighting Field erupted with loud cheers! The spectators, who had initially been concerned for Yang Chuxia, were now captivated by the spectacular bout unfolding before them.
The crowd buzzed with excitement at the sight of Yang Chuxia holding her own against General Edi, eagerly anticipating how long she could keep it up.
Before long, they had been dueling for over eight minutes, and Yang Chuxia was still effortlessly holding her ground. Amidst Edi's relentless onslaught, she executed a deft flip, astonishingly landing atop his arms.
This move stoked Edi's combativeness. With a powerful shake of his arms, he flung Yang Chuxia away. She used the momentum to land gracefully at the edge of the Fighting Platform, then sprang back into action, lunging at Edi once more.
