C41 Violence(2)

Yang Chuxia grabbed a chair and brought it crashing down on their heads, blood erupting and splattering over her like a fountain.

At that moment, the soldier Yang Chuxia had kicked away managed to stand up and made his way toward the entrance of the hall!

Mrs. Aurelian, trembling, picked up the gun that Yang Chuxia had kicked aside and pulled the trigger. With a loud "Bang!" the gunshot echoed, and the fleeing soldier collapsed to the ground.

Throughout the scuffle between Yang Chuxia and the five soldiers, there was an unspoken agreement to remain silent. The adversaries likely thought that Yang Chuxia's presence indicated more allies nearby, while Yang Chuxia herself was concerned about drawing additional enemies.

When Mrs. Aurelian fired the gun, Yang Chuxia inwardly cursed, "Damn it!" She tossed aside the chair and dashed over to Mrs. Aurelian, grabbing her arm and diving under the nearest table. In a hushed tone, she asked, "Where's the escape tunnel?"

Realizing her blunder at Yang Chuxia's reaction, Mrs. Aurelian's face was filled with regret as she whispered, "There's a passage behind the stage. It should be safe, right?"

The clamor of footsteps grew louder outside the hall, signaling that a crowd was on its way.

This time, Aurelian wisely handed the rifle she had retrieved from the floor to Yang Chuxia, while she herself took cover under the table with another rifle at the ready.

Yang Chuxia held the gun with an odd look on her face and silently slid it back to Aurelian.

Perplexed, Aurelian silently mouthed, "You don't know how to use a gun, do you?"

With an embarrassed nod, Yang Chuxia confirmed her suspicion.

Aurelian couldn't help but feel a surge of amusement. Her own actions had been exemplary—deceiving the enemy, striking swiftly, and killing with precision. She had dispatched the foes in mere minutes, a performance reminiscent of a Modified Man!

Yet, she was amused to learn that Yang Chuxia was unfamiliar with even a basic mechanical gun. All it took was to release the safety, aim, and pull the trigger to shoot an enemy. The stark difference was almost comical, akin to a tailor confessing an inability to sew on a button.

The intruder burst into the hall with haste. This time, however, it wasn't a soldier but a tall figure clad in a tight black outfit, their face obscured by a mask. Yang Chuxia and Aurelian quickly ducked under a table, holding their breath in anticipation.

Yang Chuxia took a quick count—twelve in total. As they entered, they split into pairs, backs to each other, guns at the ready, scanning the room. They didn't immediately notice the five soldier corpses sprawled on the floor.

Suddenly, a deep voice commanded, "Fire!" The dozen assailants unleashed a hail of bullets into the hall.

Yang Chuxia and Aurelian were concealed under the table next to the soldiers' bodies, a spot easily overlooked. After all, who would suspect that the killers hadn't fled, but were lying right beside their victims?

Once the gunfire ceased and the masked figures noticed nothing amiss, a few approached the soldiers' bodies. If they bent down for a closer look, they'd surely discover Yang Chuxia and Aurelian...

Aurelian bit her lip in tension. Yang Chuxia gave her arm a reassuring squeeze and mouthed, "I'll take them on; you provide sniper support."

Before Aurelian could respond, Yang Chuxia produced a silver needle. With a flicker of silver, she flung the needle at their foes. Simultaneously, she shoved the table overhead, charging at the masked men with it.

Struck by the needle, the men felt a sharp pain but had no time to cry out before the table flew towards them. Caught off guard, they were bowled over with a resounding crash by Yang Chuxia's forceful push.

Aurelian rolled across the floor, using a row of benches for cover as she fired at those Yang Chuxia hadn't hit. Perhaps due to nerves, it took several shots before she managed to hit three of them.

The remaining masked men, who had not approached, along with five others incapacitated by Yang Chuxia's needle, lay on the ground. They cursed loudly and quickly aimed their guns at Aurelian and Yang Chuxia.

Yang Chuxia, wielding the table like a shield, hurled it at the gunmen. They were struck squarely, their weapons clattering to the ground or firing astray.

Yang Chuxia leaped into the air, delivering a series of kicks aimed at the head of a masked man some distance away. Her attack was so forceful that the man's head snapped to the side, and he was sent flying seven or eight meters before crashing to the ground with a heavy thud, motionless.

Meanwhile, Aurelian fired her gun, finishing off the four individuals Yang Chuxia had previously knocked down with the table.

After landing, Yang Chuxia found herself amidst the dazed, masked men. She swiftly twisted their necks, neutralizing them quickly.

For some unknown reason, despite the loud gunshots, no one else rushed in.

Aurelian picked herself up off the ground and staggered toward Yang Chuxia.

Yang Chuxia stood up, intending to assist her, when an earth-shattering explosion erupted outside. The massive blast sent a scorching wave of heat over the headquarters, causing both women to stagger from the shockwave.

Through the windows, they could see flames reaching for the sky, and it wasn't difficult to imagine a mushroom cloud forming above.

The building began to tilt dangerously.

"Damn it! The building's going to collapse!" Yang Chuxia cursed under her breath. Without a moment's delay, she grabbed Aurelian's arm and bellowed, "Hold onto my waist for dear life, got it?"

Aurelian, paralyzed with fear, could barely move. Their ears rang so loudly from the explosion that they couldn't hear a thing.

Luckily, Aurelian was quick-witted enough to read Yang Chuxia's lips, nodding her head. In her panic, she instinctively chose to follow Yang Chuxia's command.

Yang Chuxia, half-dragging Aurelian, made a beeline for the left side of the building. She recalled a nearby structure about eighteen stories high—if it hadn't been destroyed, there might be a slim chance of survival!

The building was already tilting at a precarious angle, on the verge of collapse. Aurelian was completely limp, relying on Yang Chuxia, who was a head shorter than her. Thankfully, Yang Chuxia's incredible strength allowed her to run swiftly, supporting Aurelian's waist.

Outside, the artillery fire was relentless, with stray bullets occasionally piercing through the windows. Yang Chuxia, gripping Aurelian tightly, weaved left and right, leaping out of the shattered window. She glanced at the building to their left, praying silently. Miraculously, despite being battered and riddled with holes, it had not fallen.

The headquarters stood thirty-six stories tall, and they were currently on the thirty-second floor. The idea of jumping from there to the eighteen-story building opposite seemed like a fantasy, but...

As the building began to topple slowly backward, Yang Chuxia was confident her assessment had been spot on! The structure was incredibly solid, its framework constructed entirely of steel, with the remaining parts predominantly glass, except for the cement floors.

With no indication of a mid-level fracture, she took Mrs. Aurelian in tow, leaping and bounding down from the tilting walls. If they could just get close enough to the appropriate height on the left side of the building, they stood a chance of making the jump across.
