C6 He Was Suspicious
The military regulations of the Alliance didn't explicitly prohibit military doctors from participating in the training, nor did they encourage it. This oversight in the military law was rarely exploited, as few doctors were inclined to endure the notorious "Demon Style" boot camp. Yang Chuxia was a rare exception.
"Thank you, General!" Yang Chuxia saluted Edi before finally departing.
Once Yang Chuxia had left, Edi's expression reverted to its usual stern demeanor. He called Sean into his office.
He retrieved Yang Chuxia's file and instructed Sean, "I need a comprehensive report on Dr. Yang Chuxia. If we don't have enough information, reach out to the Central Intelligence Agency."
Sean, though puzzled, knew better than to question orders. He simply nodded and responded, "Yes, General! I'll get on it right away."
From his office window, Edi watched Yang Chuxia stroll towards the dormitory with an ease that seemed out of place for a recent medical school graduate and new recruit.
A chill entered Edi's gaze. It was highly unusual for a military doctor, fresh from academia, to exhibit such physical prowess.
Edi was certain that even soldiers hardened by the most grueling training couldn't withstand fifteen minutes in a free fight with him. Yet Yang Chuxia had managed to do just that, a fact that merited serious contemplation. He also questioned the necessity of a military doctor undergoing such rigorous training.
The Flying Eagle Combat Group wasn't a frontline unit but a Special Forces team adept at conducting ambushes, rescues, and specialized missions. They were the Alliance's most enigmatic unit and its trump card, a blade unsheathed, striking fear into the hearts of the Bedamra Star invaders.
By the 28th century, the Mother Planets' resources had dwindled, leading to interstellar conflicts over the remaining assets.
The Bedamra Star, the mightiest in the Milky Way, boasted cutting-edge technology and weaponry. Ruthless in their quest for resources, they showed no regard for life, leaving a trail of destruction across the cosmos.
To counter this formidable foe, numerous smaller planets banded together, forming the Alliance Army to stand against the Bedamra Star. This coalition was born out of necessity, a united front in the face of overwhelming odds.
The Alliance Army has been in existence for a century, yet the conflict with Bedamra Star persists, with skirmishes flaring up intermittently. The sly inhabitants of Bedamra Star have infiltrated the Alliance Army using various guises to gather intelligence and engage in sabotage. Thus, General Edi had ample reason to doubt the true identity of Yang Chuxia.
After leaving General Edi's office, Yang Chuxia headed straight for her dormitory. One of the perks of being a military doctor was the freedom and ease it afforded her. She was well aware that her role as a military doctor for the Flying Eagle Combat Group was largely ceremonial and seldom called upon.
Nonetheless, driven by a desire to avenge her parents, Yang Chuxia was determined not to squander her time. Having joined the army, she committed herself to learning everything she could, seizing every opportunity to go to the front lines for retribution. Within the Flying Eagle Combat Group, the chance of a doctor being sent to the front lines was a mere 0.1%. Without her medical position, however, she wouldn't have any chance at all.
Therefore, it was crucial for Yang Chuxia to participate in training and master all the knowledge of aviation and flight. The memory of her parents' deaths tormented her, causing her heart to ache and robbing her of sleep.
Yang Chuxia had spent her childhood on her Mother Planet with her parents. As the planet's resources dwindled, they were forced to relocate to the Colonized Star of Tanara. At the age of sixteen, Tanara was invaded by forces from Bedamra Star, and her parents, unable to endure the humiliation, fought back and were slain by the Bedamra invaders.
The man who pulled the trigger was none other than Ipy Cainedav, then a Major General and now a General. Not even their bodies were left behind; they were vaporized in an instant.
To seek vengeance, Yang Chuxia enlisted in the military, but her height led to her disqualification in the first round of new recruit screenings, denying her the chance to demonstrate her abilities. She later discovered that the military's requirements for medical officers were more lenient, prompting her to enroll in medical school. Upon graduation, she joined the army's medical corps, biding her time for the perfect moment to avenge her parents.
The thought of openly training with the new recruits tomorrow put Yang Chuxia in high spirits as she returned to her room in the barracks. Tumbling onto her bed, she looked around the room. Despite the cold metal walls, with only the Intelligence System regulating the temperature and air, she felt a sense of warmth for the first time.
The twenty-square-meter room ended with a bathroom, featuring a large built-in wardrobe, a bed 1.5 meters wide, and a desk next to the bed. Yang Chuxia settled into the chair at the desk and called out to the Intelligence System twice.
A gentle voice promptly responded, "Hello! Dr. Yang, how may I assist you today?"
After a moment's thought, Yang Chuxia requested, "Hello! I'd like you to provide me with detailed information on the new recruit training, such as the class timetable and curriculum."
"Dr. Yang, the training schedule for new recruits isn't set in stone. It's determined by the instructors each evening, and the following morning, the Intelligence System informs the recruits of their locations," the system answered with a hint of regret.
"Really? I was under the impression it was a fixed schedule," Yang Chuxia expressed her surprise.
She had been at the base for three days and noticed that the recruits' mornings began with a five-kilometer run carrying a heavy load, followed by combat training and military knowledge lessons, with these activities repeating in a cycle.
"The schedule isn't fixed; it's unanimously decided by the instructors after their meetings. If you require, Dr. Yang, I can ensure you receive the training content and materials in advance."
