C7 Meeting

Yang Chuxia nodded, then a thought struck her. She wondered if the Intelligence System responded to voice commands or if it was capable of both audio and visual cues.

"Starting tomorrow, I'll officially begin training with the new recruits. So, please make sure to remind me according to the training schedule and have all the necessary materials prepared for me."

"Of course! Is there anything else you need, Dr. Yang?"

"That's all, thank you."

"Then please rest, Dr. Yang."

"Alright."

After two hours of sleep in the Medical Cabin, Yang Chuxia found herself wide awake. She hadn't had enough to eat at lunch and now, glancing at the clock, she realized it was 2:20 pm.

Feeling her stomach growl with hunger, she decided to head out in search of food. Once the designated meal times at headquarters were over, on-duty soldiers had no choice but to go hungry.

However, there were several restaurants outside the headquarters where one could dine, albeit for a fee. While meals at the headquarters canteen were free, the food was systematically checked and tailored to each individual's nutritional needs, leaving no room for personal choice. As a result, soldiers with some spare cash would often opt out of the standard fare in favor of something more to their liking once off duty.

Exiting the dormitory, the base was anything but quiet. Apart from the recruits who were required to train at the Training Field, the veterans with no assignments were enjoying a leisurely afternoon.

The Alliance Army valued human rights and didn't expect soldiers to train every day. The base was expansive, with plenty of amenities for leisure, including libraries, cinemas, bars, milk tea and coffee shops, swimming pools, and Fighting Fields.

On her way to the restaurant, Yang Chuxia observed many soldiers, both men and women, in military uniforms, socializing in small groups.

Occasionally, a dashing young officer would flirt with an attractive female soldier, but it was all in good fun due to the strict military code of conduct—no one dared to display affection publicly.

The Alliance Army had strict rules against fraternization within the same department, but relationships with personnel from other departments were not prohibited. Consequently, many couples could be seen strolling hand in hand, enjoying their romance.

This was Yang Chuxia's first time venturing out onto the streets beyond the headquarters. Until now, her movements had been limited to the dormitory, the treatment department, and the Training Field.

Petite with exquisitely delicate features and fair, smooth skin, she was dressed in the standard military uniform for women—a black, form-fitting round-neck T-shirt paired with a hip-hugging short skirt made from the same material, accentuating her attractive figure.

In the ranks of the Alliance Army, most female soldiers were tall and robust, with very few possessing the delicate stature of Yang Chuxia. Her appearance certainly turned heads, as soldiers on the street occasionally whistled and chuckled at her with a hint of flirtation.

Unaccustomed to such attention, Yang Chuxia kept her head down, following the directions to the restaurant she had been given.

Sean was piloting the hover car when he unexpectedly spotted Yang Chuxia. He turned to Edi, who was seated next to him, "General, that's Dr. Yang! Should we stop and say hello?"

Edi surveyed Yang Chuxia's striking figure with a sharp gaze and gave a nonchalant hum of acknowledgment.

Feeling a breeze behind her, Yang Chuxia turned to see Sean smiling at her from the open window of the hover car. "Hi, Dr. Yang, where are you headed? If it's on the way, I can give you a lift."

Yang Chuxia caught a glimpse of Edi, who sat beside Sean with a distant demeanor, radiating an aura that seemed to ward off strangers. She hesitated, then declined, "Hello, Major Sean. No need, I'm just out for a stroll."

After a quick look at Edi, Sean replied with a smile, "Alright then! The general and I will be on our way."

Once the hover car had disappeared into the distance, Yang Chuxia resumed her walk. She soon arrived at the street corner and remembered the restaurant named Therewith was supposed to be on the left.

Approaching the venue, she found it to be modest in size but tastefully decorated, exuding tranquility. Despite knowing there were three restaurants in the area, her hunger persuaded her to stay. She entered and, to her surprise, spotted Edi and Sean in the company of another officer, sitting in a secluded corner. The officer was in casual attire, and his rank was unknown to Yang Chuxia. She paused, contemplating whether to find another place to eat.

Sean caught sight of her and offered a friendly nod. Edi gave her a brief, indifferent glance before looking away.

Returning Sean's smile with a nod, Yang Chuxia sensed Edi's desire to avoid interruption. After a moment's hesitation, she decided against seeking out another restaurant and chose a seat far from them, with her back to the glass door.

A charming Intelligence Robot waitress approached to take her order, enthusiastically recommending a variety of delectable dishes.

Yang Chuxia, ravenous, quickly chose several hearty dishes along with a plate of pasta, intent on satisfying her hunger and making a swift exit. The waitress, understanding her urgency, suggested she have a glass of juice while waiting for her meal.

The juice arrived promptly, and Yang Chuxia, sipping her drink, watched the passersby outside the window to pass the time until her food was ready.

Though the restaurant was fairly occupied, Yang Chuxia couldn't shake the feeling that a subtle but persistent gaze from Edi's table was fixed on her, causing her considerable discomfort.

Once she finished her juice, the rest of her order was brought to the table. The waitress, with a soft voice, announced, "Your dishes have been served. Enjoy your meal!"

Seizing the moment to nod in gratitude, Yang Chuxia casually glanced over at Sean's table, accidentally locking eyes with Edi's piercing stare. Startled, she managed to muster a polite smile.

Edi, however, turned away and began murmuring to the officer beside him, seemingly disowning the intense scrutiny from moments before.

Yang Chuxia bowed her head to her meal, inwardly chastising herself for feeling so cowardly. She wasn't doing anything wrong; she was simply out to eat. What was there to be nervous about?

Besides, even though Edi was the Supreme Commander of the Flying Eagle Combat Group, he wasn't her direct superior. If she were to feel guilty about anything, it should be in the presence of Dr. Raymond!

With this in mind, she voraciously devoured her pasta, as if venting her frustrations on it, and polished off the steak and the rest of her dishes with equal fervor. She ate as though she had a vendetta against the very food itself!
