C11 Do You Dare?

As the words of the two chairmen fell in the ears of the crowd, those in the audience voiced their approval. Meanwhile, the voices of opposition emerged one after another and scene became very chaotic.

When Meng Ran saw what was going on, he could only furrow his brow slightly and didn’t say a word.

On the other side, Mu Qingya’s palms were utterly soaked with sweat. Her pearl-white teeth were biting down on her ruby-red lips, and no one could read the expression on her face. She was clearly thinking about how one wrong move from Meng Ran would make the consequences especially dire for the two of them.

However, when she looked up and saw Meng Ran’s reassuring gaze, the young lady finally decided to steel her resolve for what was ahead. Her words were full of power as she said, “I believe him!”

Mu Qingya also had no idea why she would say such a thing. Perhaps it was because they had previously exchanged a few words on KuaJiang Bridge, or perhaps something he did in the past had awakened something in her.

Perhaps even Mu Qingya didn’t realize it herself that from the beginning until the end, she had always had faith in Meng Ran.

Seeing how insistent Mu Qingya was on Meng Ran’s reliability, Zhong Changqing’s face became an ugly mask, and he sternly said, “Then let me ask you this: Who is he? What’s his background? And why in the world did you ask him to treat Old General?!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Faang Jianguo, who was pushed to a corner during the confusion, suddenly screamed, “That guy’s a liar! He secretly looked into Old General Mu’s condition and wanted to come here to cheat and lie his way through here!”

When he said all of this, all hell broke loose in the ward.

All the doctors pointed their fingers at Meng Ran in disgust. Some even clamored to say, “Liar, get the hell out of here this instant!”

Zhong Changqing couldn’t hold it in any longer and spoke righteously. “Old General Mu had done many great things for our country in the past. If you can’t do anything about Old General’s condition, who will bear such a responsibility? You can? Can you? Or you can?”

Zhong Changqing first directed his finger at Mu Qingya, then at Faang Jianguo. Finally, his fingertip stopped mere inches away from Meng Ran’s nose. If Meng Ran moved his body even slightly, the finger resembling a dagger would touch him. Zhong Changqing pointed his finger at Meng Ran like he wanted to directly pierce it through the other man’s face.

Mu Qingya wanted to speak up for Meng Ran, but the latter was blocking her. However, he accidentally brushed past Mu Qingya’s chest as he was trying to get away from Zhong Changqing, causing the girl to feel some embarrassment and anger.

Meng Ran stretched out a finger and slowly eased it at the finger pointing at his nose. At that moment in time, no sadness or joy could be seen on Meng Ran’s face. Indeed, the only emotion that was evident was pure anger.

He had ventured across the galaxy for thousands of years. Throughout his journey, only one person ever dared to point his finger at the tip of his nose. However, this person had been dealt with by him a long time ago. That person’s spine was crushed by Meng Ran’s foot, and he would be suppressed for all eternity for daring to actually provoke him. That guy deserved it!

Immortal Sovereign Tairan could never be humiliated!

“What if I helped cure him?” As Meng Ran spoke, his breaths came out condensed in the ice-cold ward. They were on the cusp of autumn, and everyone inexplicably felt a chill in the air. The cold made everyone present in the ward shiver.

Faang Jianguo saw how cold Meng Ran was and feared what he might do next.

Being questioned in front of so many people by this student, Zhong Changqing’s expression wasn’t happy. His face was as gloomy as storm clouds, loaded with the portent of rain.

“You’re going to help him with what expertise? All the top attending physicians and experts in Jiangzhou are here. What can you do that we can’t?”

Meng Ran’s razor-sharp voice cut through the dean’s words like butter, and he asked in a cold voice, “If I can really cure him, what are you going to do next?”

The old dean didn’t like being interrupted. His face immediately turned green and white as he thought, ‘Brat, you’re really asking for it now!’

Zhong Changqing said angrily, “That’s if you can do anything. Go ahead, be my guest!”

Hearing what Zhong Changqing just said, Meng Ran smiled sinisterly as he said, “Okay! All right then. If I cure him, you’ll have to kowtow and apologize to me. If I can’t cure him, I’ll kowtow and apologize to you. How about that?”

At this point in time, Meng Ran’s Qi exploded with a burst of energy. His eyes flashed like lightning as he glared daggers at Zhong Changqing, and he shouted at the top of his lungs. “Do you dare or not?”

At this time, the words ‘do you dare or not’ reverberated in everyone’s mind just like a Buddhist chant. Other than Mu Qingya, the looks in everyone’s eyes were very dull, and their expressions were pretty much all uniform.

Just now, Meng Ran had activated his magical strength. His voice was packed with his magical strength and the True Essence, and as a result, what he said was deeply imprinted in everyone’s mind. If this group of people saw Meng Ran again, they would instantly be reminded of this sentence. Such an impression had been seared in their minds and couldn’t be easily erased.

After feeling slightly dazed, the crowd shook their heads as they recovered. Each and every one of them glared at Meng Ran, seeing how rude he was being. The doctors from Jiangzhou People’s Hospital reprimanded him, “Why are you being so rude? Miss Mu, you really invited this person here?”

Meng Ran shot this person a cold glance and mocked him, “You want to bet on it?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, the old doctor, who was pretty renowned in all parts of Jiangzhou, immediately turned red and could not say another word.

This kid must be trying to pull the wool over our eyes. If none of our experts can treat Old General, then how can this green kid do it? He must be a liar out to cheat us out of all our money!

If he really was a capable doctor, his reputation would’ve long preceded him, and he would’ve been reported by the newspapers and media by now and even be hired by various major hospitals for his healing skills. Of course, everyone could tell just by a glance that this kid is just a student with no money to his name!

Yes! He was definitely using reverse psychology on me, trying to do everything possible to suppress me by acting imposingly.

Zhong Changqing’s analysis of the situation was completely reasonable. It wasn’t far-fetched at all. However, there was just one thing he had no way of foreseeing. This guy was an old dean. How could he possibly understand a complex system like the Immortal Sovereign Tairan? Curing a minor illness was nothing in its eyes. Back then, Meng Ran had even used his supreme magic strength to resurrect a close friend of his. To Immortal Sovereign Tairan, reviving a dead person… Could be done just like that. Like a snap of one’s fingers.

Zhong Changqing clenched his teeth tightly as he said, “All right! I promise you! Today, let’s all see how you’re going to save Elder Mu!”
