C6 You Are Not Qualified to Fight Me!

As Bai Shuang listened to Lin Yuan speak at a measured pace, she couldn't hide her astonishment. She hadn't expected this man to be so knowledgeable.

The information wasn't particularly complex, but it was beyond the grasp of the average person.

She had pegged him as a timid man and was taken aback by the unexpected depth he showed.

Zhao Deyi's face turned a shade of iron when he caught the last remark. Yet, in Bai Shuang's presence, he managed to suppress his anger, taking a deep, deliberate breath.

Just you wait!

His gaze on Lin Yuan was dark with malice, his mind already scheming a time to have someone teach Lin Yuan a lesson.

"Talking gets us nowhere. I'll have someone fetch the wine expert immediately."

Zhao Deyi forced a smile, made a phone call, and returned to his seat, his expression clouded with worry and indecision.

Xu Xin leaned in with concern.

"Young Master Zhao, feel free to speak your mind."

Zhao Deyi glanced at Lin Yuan, a look of discomfort on his face, then turned to Bai Shuang.

"There are things I shouldn't say, yet I find them hard to keep to myself."

"We're all friends here; there's nothing we can't discuss," Xu Xin said, her smile ingratiating.

"Well then, I'll be frank. I just hope Mr. Lin won't hold it against me for speaking my truth."

Lin Yuan nodded nonchalantly, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he watched Zhao Deyi's charade unfold.

"The most terrifying thing about a man isn't his lack of skills, but his lack of integrity and character. To slander others out of jealousy is beneath a true man.

Shuang, we've known each other a long time, and I trust you understand my intentions.

I was shocked to hear of your sudden marriage, especially to someone who lacks any real talent.

I had resigned myself to the fact that we weren't destined to be together and didn't want to pester you, but seeing Lin Yuan today, I'm convinced he's not deserving of your lifelong commitment. You can't possibly find happiness with him!"

Zhao Deyi wore his heart on his sleeve, but Lin Yuan, observing from the sidelines, could only cringe at the display of brazen shamelessness.

Just last night, this guy was out having a blast with two pretty girls. He sure didn't look like the man he is now.

Lin Yuan, naturally, kept a close eye on his rivals. He had people from the War God Shrine watching them like hawks.

"Just because I outshone you a bit earlier, he thinks he can spout nonsense and smear my name. How could someone like him ever make you happy? I really think you should consider getting a divorce as soon as possible."

After making his point, Zhao Deyi stole a glance at Xu Xin, who caught on immediately and chimed in with her own taunts.

"Exactly. I've said it more than once: Lin Yuan isn't worth your lifelong commitment. Just look at him; he's no help to you at all.

If it weren't for Young Master Zhao stepping in, how would our company have weathered this storm? Rely on him? I don't think so."

Lin Yuan's lips curled into a smile. Zhao Deyi's words were all too predictable.

Bai Shuang frowned. Despite everything, she and Lin Yuan were still married, and these comments were crossing the line.

Lin Yuan remained unfazed, confident in his knowledge of Bai Shuang's character. She was not the type to fall for someone like Zhao Deyi.

Even if there was a misunderstanding this time, her gratitude was purely platonic.

What Lin Yuan didn't realize was that the heart of a woman is unfathomable.

She turned to look at Lin Yuan, who was still smiling. Bai Shuang was at a loss for words, wondering why he lacked any sense of pride.

How could a man be so utterly shameless? They were insulting him to his face, and yet he just kept smiling!

His earlier words had almost swayed her opinion of him, but now she was back to square one.

"Young Master Zhao need not concern himself with this. It's a private matter, after all."

"How can you be so dismissive? Not to mention the huge favor Young Master Zhao did for us, but what about his kindness towards you? Don't you feel anything?

Even if no one else knows, I'm aware that Lin Yuan is nothing more than a marriage arranged by your father. There's no love between you. Are you really planning to waste your whole life on that?"

"If you insist on discussing this matter, I'm afraid I'll have no choice but to excuse myself and leave."

Bai Shuang rose to her feet, poised to walk away. She had no desire to spend her life with Lin Yuan, but choosing Zhao Deyi was out of the question.

Zhao Deyi's panic was palpable as he watched her about to exit. He was visibly distressed.

"Please, don't be upset. Let's drop the subject and just enjoy our meal and drinks. The chef here has international acclaim; the food is exquisite."

"Let's not rush into dinner. Where's the sommelier you've invited? I doubt this wine is fit for my wife."

He put extra weight on the word 'wife,' which left Zhao Deyi seething, his face ashen with anger.

"Fine. We'll wait for the sommelier to arrive and verify the authenticity of this wine before we proceed with our meal. But let me be clear—if you continue to be ungrateful, don't blame me for not showing Bai Shuang the respect she deserves. If this wine turns out to be genuine, you'll owe me a kneeling apology. If not, don't expect me to be courteous!"

"Agreed. And what if it's counterfeit?"

Lin Yuan asked, a smile on his face.

"If it's counterfeit, I'll strip and run a lap outside!"

Zhao Deyi had never entertained the possibility of defeat, his response coming off as nonchalant.

"Very well."

At Zhao Deyi's insistence, the sommelier hurried over in less than ten minutes.

"Prepare to bow and apologize. A 300,000-yuan bottle of wine can't possibly be a fake!"

A wine that expensive was beyond the reach of the man before him for a lifetime.

Lin Yuan remained silent, simply observing Zhao Deyi, who was about to be humiliated.

"The wine is indeed a fake."

The sommelier tasted it cautiously, taking several minutes to come to terms with the revelation. The wine was indeed counterfeit.

"You heard that? The wine is..."

Zhao Deyi began with a smug look, but as he finished, his face contorted in disbelief.

"What did you just say? Fake wine? Impossible!"

"Regrettably, this wine is not of the highest quality, even though it does come from a Bordeaux winery.

"It's not from the finest grape-growing region. In terms of flavor, richness, or unique character, it falls short by quite a bit. It might fetch around 30,000 at most."

After his assessment, the master shook his head in disappointment and walked away. He had hoped to savor a top-tier wine, but alas, he had only come across a mediocre one.

Bai Shuang's eyes sparkled with astonishment; she hadn't anticipated Lin Yuan possessing such talent. With his skills, he could easily be a leading wine connoisseur in the country. Why then, did he have to live off women? She began to see him in a new light, not as terrible as she had thought, but rather enigmatic.

"Even if I were mistaken, this wine is still worth 30,000 yuan. You couldn't afford it in your lifetime!"

Zhao Deyi stubbornly refused to concede, instead opting to taunt Lin Yuan with unabashed arrogance.

Lin Yuan gave Zhao Deyi a cold glance and remained silent. He simply picked up his phone and dialed a number.

"Send over the Romanee-Conti I left at your vineyard last time to Winter Cafe."

With that, he ended the call nonchalantly.

The bottle in question was a parting gift from a princess of the Farsi Empire when he returned home. He hadn't even tasted it and had stored it in a nearby vineyard.

"What are you talking about? Romanee-Conti is the emperor of wines, especially the 1990 vintage. It's a treasure at auctions, easily fetching millions!"

Zhao Deyi's complexion turned a shade paler.

"Aren't you supposed to strip and take a lap around? What are you still doing standing here?"

Lin Yuan turned, a smile playing on his lips.
