C105 Fourth Sister Call Someone!!

Chair Bai's brow furrowed as he demanded in a cold voice, "Are you accusing me of falsifying evidence?"

His accusation set off a buzz of conversation among those gathered.

"He's questioning Chair Bai? But Chair Bai is from the Central Hospital! Has he lost his mind?"

"He's quite bold! Doesn't he have anything else to say? He should just own up to it!"

"This unscrupulous company is utterly revolting! It should have been shut down long ago!"

The murmurs around them were unanimously in Chair Bai's favor.

A smug smile played on the lips of Chair Bai and the woman as they stood there, waiting with arrogant anticipation.

Lin Zhiqing bit down on her lip, her sense of hopelessness growing.

Yet, Zhang Chen couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the situation.

For one, Lin Zhiqing was known for her meticulousness; such an oversight was out of character for her company.

Secondly, the timing of this incident was too convenient, coinciding with the looming crisis facing the Lin family.

And thirdly, would a hospital director personally step in to advocate for a patient's justice?

Even if he were benevolent, the woman's reaction was limited to shock and nothing more after his arrival.

Zhang Chen's frown deepened as his suspicions grew.

Eventually, the clamor of discussion subsided.

With a sneer, Chair Bai challenged, "Are you ready to explain yourselves now? I've presented the evidence. Since you claim I've fabricated it, show me yours!"

At his words, the crowd couldn't help but smirk in disdain.

The woman scoffed, "Him? What evidence could he possibly have?"

Lin Zhiqing quietly hung her head.

Now, the only link the Lin family had to the Central Hospital was through Vice Dean Tang.

But Lin Guofeng was not stepping in to assist.

Moreover, Tang Guozhong had no hand in hospital affairs, rendering his presence useless even if he were to show up.

Despair began to permeate the atmosphere.

Was Xuanying on the brink of collapse?

Before she realized it, Lin Zhiqing's eyes had started to well up with tears.

The surrounding sneers grew louder, the woman's arrogance escalating.

Swiftly, Chair Bai stepped forward, his sneer chilling. "If you have no evidence to present, then I suggest Miss Lin provide an explanation to all of Ningzhou's media!"

His voice resonated with commanding authority.

Lin Zhiqing's body gave a slight feint, her eyes brimming with urgency.

In the midst of her uncertainty, Zhang Chen stepped forward.

"Alright, I'll find you some evidence," he declared, pulling out his phone.

His words, however, were met with a wave of laughter from those around them.

Despite knowing she was cornered, Lin Zhiqing clung to a sliver of hope.

Chair Bai let out a cold chuckle. "Fine. Show me what evidence you can muster!"

Ignoring Chair Bai's taunts, Zhang Chen dialed Lau Qingyue's number.

Soon, the call connected, and Lau Qingyue's voice, tinged with fatigue, came through. "What's the matter, brother?"

"Sorry to disturb you, Fourth Sister. I've run into a bit of trouble. A director at the Central Hospital issued a false certificate."

"Could you find someone to verify this for me?"

Zhang Chen rushed through his request, wary of taking up too much of Lau Qingyue's time.

"Okay, I'll make a call. I've got to go now," Lau Qingyue responded soothingly, and then she ended the call.

Who was she calling?

"Fourth Sister! Hold on a moment," Zhang Chen pleaded anxiously.

But the line was already dead before he could finish.

Zhang Chen was at a loss.

He had no idea what Lau Qingyue would do next, but having said his piece, all he could do was wait.

Surely this wouldn't be too hard for Lau Qingyue?

The onlookers, seeing Zhang Chen's call cut short, couldn't help but smirk.

The flicker of hope in Lin Zhiqing's heart faded to nothing.

"How's it going? Found your evidence yet?" Chair Bai mocked.

He was in charge of all the testing procedures, save for the machine assays, and only the dean's secretary had access to the detailed data.

He couldn't fathom the Lin family managing to bring the dean's secretary to their side.

His remark sent the crowd into another fit of laughter.

"I'm on it," Zhang Chen replied cheerfully. "Just give me a moment."

Chair Bai suppressed a smile and retorted, "Take your time. I can wait. But remember, if you come up empty-handed, I'll be suing the Lin family for defamation."

"And it's essential that this report be seen by us, the ordinary folks!" Chair Bai declared. He then approached a nearby reporter, lifting the report high for all to see.

The reporters surged forward as if they had struck gold.

Zhang Chen's curiosity was piqued. They wouldn't accuse Lin Zhiqing without cause.

But who was orchestrating this?

All Lin Zhiqing could do was fret helplessly.

Soon enough, nearly every media outlet had captured the document's contents on camera.

The woman wore a smug expression on her face.

Before you knew it, ten minutes had flown by.

Chair Bai tucked away the documents and scoffed, "Well? I've been waiting ages for you. Where's your evidence?"

Zhang Chen replied with a grin, "Hold on, it's coming right up."

Despite his words, he wasn't sure of himself.

Lau Qingyue was so busy, she might have forgotten about this entirely.

The woman snapped, "Stop trying to buy time! Do you really think the Lin family can produce detailed data from the Central Hospital?"

"Continuing to wait is nothing but a waste of time!"

"Lin Zhiqing, engaging in such disgraceful dealings, don't you have anything to say to us victims?"

Her accusation turned all eyes on Lin Zhiqing.

Lin Zhiqing bit her lip, her gaze inadvertently seeking out Zhang Chen.

Chair Bai taunted, "Looking at him won't help. His calls have been disconnected. Do you honestly think he can unearth any evidence?"

His words extinguished the last flicker of hope in Lin Zhiqing's heart.

Chair Bai pressed on, "With both witness and evidence at hand, I'm giving you one final opportunity to clear things up with the media!"

"We'll be calling the police shortly!"

Lin Zhiqing staggered, her eyes brimming with fear.

If she called the police and the allegations were substantiated, Xuanying would be ruined, and the Lin family would suffer the consequences.

Who could be setting her up?

Zhang Chen also scowled, a sense of urgency gnawing at him.

The fact that these words came from Chair Bai and not the woman with allergies only deepened Zhang Chen's suspicions.

Despite the long wait, Lau Qingyue showed no signs of making a call.

Could Fourth Sister have truly forgotten about the matter?

But in the very next moment, a deep voice cut through the silence, "Did you call the police, or was it Miss Lin?"

The question caught everyone off guard, leaving them momentarily speechless.

As they turned towards the source of the voice, they noticed the crowd parting to reveal a group of individuals clad in white lab coats approaching.

The leader of the group, a man with salt-and-pepper hair and gold-rimmed glasses, commanded attention.

Despite his advanced age, he stood with an upright posture that exuded an awe-inspiring presence.

Upon recognizing him, many onlookers' eyes widened in surprise.
