C112 The Rich!!
Hesitating for just a moment, Hee Jiahua's face suddenly lit up with realization—Zhang Chen was from the countryside, wasn't he? The thought brought a cold smirk to his lips.
Dinner wrapped up quickly. The group exchanged a few words, but soon, the conversation dwindled, and silence took over. Lin Zhiqing, still reeling from the revelation of Zhang Chen's impressive martial arts skills, finished her meal in a state of shock. She had never known, despite the years they'd known each other.
Breaking the quiet, Hee Jiahua stood up with a hearty laugh. "Well, if everyone's done, let's head out. I'll take care of the bill." He reached for his designer bag, and the women's eyes sparkled at the sight.
In no time, Hee Jiahua had settled the account, and he ushered the group toward the exit. Zhang Chen and Lin Zhiqing followed silently in his wake.
At the door, Hee Jiahua pulled out his car keys, pointed them at the pink Ferrari parked in the distance, and pressed the button. The car responded with a flash of brilliant lights.
"Wow, that Ferrari's Young Master Hee's?"
"That ride is epic! Mind taking me for a spin?"
"Young Master Hee is so cool! I'd kill for a ride in that Ferrari!"
The women were beside themselves with excitement, practically ready to leap into Hee Jiahua's arms.
Hee Jiahua turned to Lin Zhiqing with a smile. "How about I drive you home, Zhiqing? Though, the Ferrari only seats two."
All eyes converged on Lin Zhiqing in anticipation.
Under his breath, Zhang Chen muttered, "The car only seats two?" He was puzzled, having never encountered a sports car before.
His comment, though quiet, cut through the silence, and everyone heard it loud and clear. The room filled with looks of contempt.
"Don't talk about things you don't understand, okay? Do you have any idea how much this car is worth?"
"Think it's like your family's tractor?"
"Watch your mouth! This car's worth over 7 million! You couldn't afford it in a lifetime, you know?"
The chatter swelled as everyone voiced their disdain for Zhang Chen.
Lin Zhiqing, feeling helpless, hung her head low.
Zhang Xue chimed in with a biting edge, "You really are a country bumpkin. A car's value isn't based on how many people it can carry."
Zhang Chen was fuming. "The subway can carry so many people, and it's way more expensive than this car," he argued.
The crowd was momentarily struck dumb.
But then, they all looked at him with disdain.
Undeterred, Zhang Chen declared, "Once I'm rich, I'm definitely getting a car that seats over ten people!"
Hee Jiahua squinted at him, his voice dripping with scorn, "A car that fits more than ten people? That would be a van, wouldn't it?"
Laughter erupted from all around.
Zhang Chen could only shake his head in resignation.
He just couldn't get through to them.
Hee Jiahua, smugly satisfied, offered again with enthusiasm, "Zhiqing, let me drive you home."
Lin Zhiqing's cheeks flamed with embarrassment.
She was about to decline when a deep voice interrupted, "Young Master Chen, you left your car keys behind."
Everyone was taken aback.
Laughter swelled and ebbed in waves.
Zhang Chen was startled. Looking up, he saw Loong San standing before him.
What was happening?
Bewildered, Zhang Chen accepted the keys.
Loong San simply turned and walked away.
Lin Zhiqing was equally baffled, clueless about what had just transpired.
It took a while for the laughter to finally die down.
Trying to contain his amusement, Hee Jiahua teased, "Young Master Chen, has your van for a dozen passengers arrived?"
His comment set off another round of raucous laughter.
People were doubled over, gasping for air, some clutching their bellies, tears streaming down their faces from laughing so hard.
Zhang Chen's mouth twitched. "Perhaps," he conceded.
The laughter around him had quieted, but the group was still doubled over, pounding the ground in mirth.
They seemed beyond consolation.
Lin Zhiqing inhaled sharply, wishing she could just disappear.
She was at a loss about Zhang Chen's intentions.
Hee Jiahua, barely holding back his chuckles, goaded, "Alright, bring out your car then! I'm curious to see how it stacks up against my Ferrari."
Everyone was already laughing so hard they were gasping for breath, frantically wiping away tears.
Amidst the jeers, Zhang Chen lifted his hand and hit the unlock button.
The next instant, a blinding light burst forth.
The crowd paused, shocked. They realized the light was coming from the hotel entrance on their right.
That spot was reserved for a single vehicle.
They had all prepared their next round of mockery, slowly lifting their heads to gaze at the light's origin.
Hee Jiahua dabbed away the tears at the corner of his eyes and turned around slowly.
But in that next moment, the laughter on everyone's faces solidified.
Seeing it clearly, they were all struck speechless!
Their expressions were frozen in place, the remnants of their previous mirth still etched on their faces.
Some had even forgotten to breathe.
Hee Jiahua's face was a mask of shock, his body recoiling half a step.
A hush fell over the entrance, as if silence itself had taken hold.
Lin Zhiqing was dumbfounded.
Was this yet another twist?
Fighting the flush of embarrassment, she slowly lifted her head.
Her eyes widened in astonishment at the sight before her.
Parked at the entrance was no ordinary vehicle, but a stretch Rolls Royce Phantom!
Everyone struggled to swallow, their eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
An aficionado among them cried out, "This is this year's limited edition! Only three exist worldwide! Its value is beyond measure!"
His words exploded through the crowd like a depth charge, setting off a wave of stunned reactions.
A collective gasp of awe rippled through the group.
Hee Jiahua was at a loss for words.
Everyone was.
After what seemed an eternity, Hee Jiahua managed to utter, incredulous, "Hit it again!"
It was the last thread of hope he was clinging to.
