C24 Unless You Sleep with Me!!
Lau Qingyue's brows furrowed slightly as she said, "If you have something to say, say it."
Zhang Chen, unable to contain his excitement, blurted out, "Could I trouble you to save someone for me?"
"They say that only with your intervention is there a sliver of hope..."
Hope began to flicker in Zhang Chen's eyes.
Lau Qingyue's eyebrows arched in surprise as she inquired, "Your wife?"
He quickly shook his head, an awkward smile spreading across his face, "No, it's her grandfather..."
Lau Qingyue's brows, which had briefly relaxed, drew together once more.
Zhang Chen felt a knot form in his stomach.
He was well aware of the disdain these two older sisters held for the Lin family.
Desperate, Zhang Chen hurriedly explained, "Fourth Sister, this has nothing to do with the Lin family. I genuinely want to save him."
"Old Master Lin is the only one who's treated me like a person after all this time. Could you please help me out?"
By the end of his plea, Zhang Chen was fighting a wave of nausea.
Lau Qingyue gave him an unimpressed look and said coolly, "Alright, I'll do it for the kindness he's shown you, but I have my conditions."
Zhang Chen's spirits lifted, and he quickly asked, "What conditions? Fourth Sister, name them—I'll do whatever I can!"
A playful glint appeared in Lau Qingyue's eyes as she softly stated, "I want you to sleep with me."
The tea Zhang Chen had just sipped spewed out in shock!
Sleep together?
Lau Qingyue calmly pulled out a tissue and began dabbing at the tea stains on her face, not a hint of revulsion in her demeanor.
"Fourth Sister, please, this is serious," Zhang Chen pleaded, his voice tinged with exasperation.
What a bizarre condition to propose!
For any other man, this would be a blessing of eight hundred lifetimes!
"I haven't cuddled up with you to sleep in ages. With Third Sister around, it's been nearly impossible. You decide what you want to do," she said, her tone nonchalant.
With that, Lau Qingyue reclined once more, her expression serene.
Zhang Chen began to doubt whether he possessed some sort of enchantment.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Zhang Chen said with resignation, "Fourth Sister, enough with the jokes. Please, just help me. I'll do anything you ask."
He had no choice but to sidestep the outrageous condition she had just proposed.
A glint of cunning sparkled in Lau Qingyue's eyes as she smiled triumphantly, "When?"
After a moment's thought, Zhang Chen replied, "Well, the doctor said he's got a few days left in him..."
"In that case, there's no rush. Let's have our meal first," Lau Qingyue said with a dismissive wave of her hand.
At that, Zhang Chen's anxiety finally subsided.
One way or another, the issue was settled.
Without further hesitation, he began to eat.
As they dined, their conversation drifted to childhood memories.
It was undeniable that Zhang Chen often took a beating for his older sisters back in the day. Their fondness for him made perfect sense.
They were, after all, fellow disciples, having spent their entire childhoods together in the mountains. Those memories weren't easily forgotten.
Especially now, after witnessing the deceitful ways of the world, they longed for the pure simplicity of their youth.
Before long, the two had nearly finished their meal.
Zhang Chen glanced around and was shocked to see that not a single person on the second floor had so much as touched their food.
Nearly every man's gaze was fixed on Lau Qingyue, their eyes unwilling to blink.
Was her allure really that overwhelming?
Zhang Chen couldn't help but be impressed by Lau Qingyue's magnetism.
Yet in her beautiful eyes, there was a clear flash of revulsion.
"Should we get going?" Zhang Chen asked as he stood up.
"Sit down," Lau Qingyue commanded coolly, her arms crossed.
Zhang Chen paused, taken aback. What was happening?
"I had another reason for asking you out today. You'll find out soon enough," Lau Qingyue revealed slowly.
Another reason?
Confusion flickered in Zhang Chen's eyes.
Before he could ponder any further, he spotted a luxury car pulling up to the restaurant's entrance through the window.
A look of astonishment crossed his face.
The arrival of the luxury car immediately drew the stares of many onlookers. A chorus of excited screams from several girls filled the air.
The car door swung open, and a strikingly handsome young man stepped out from behind the wheel.
His attire was clearly high-end, exuding an aristocratic air.
From the passenger seat emerged a middle-aged man. His features were unremarkable, except for the long, intimidating scar that ran across his face.
Zhang Chen was taken aback.
He couldn't pinpoint the reason, but he had a strong hunch that this affluent young man was here for Lau Qingyue.
Glancing up, Zhang Chen noted Lau Qingyue's expression remained unchanged as she leaned quietly against her chair.
Soon after, footsteps echoed.
Zhang Chen turned to look.
Sure enough.
He watched as the young man, clutching a bouquet of fresh flowers, made his way directly to the restaurant's second floor. The man's gaze swept the room, eventually settling on Lau Qingyue, his face breaking into an immediate smile.
The man with a scar on his face followed in silence, keeping a distance of about four to five meters.
Was this man Fourth Sister's suitor?
Zhang Chen was astounded, the thought almost inconceivable.
Shortly, the young man's eyes met Zhang Chen's, his smile briefly stiffening as a glint of coldness flashed in his gaze.
A sense of unease crept over Zhang Chen. Not from fear of the man, but from an inexplicable worry that he might have embarrassed Lau Qingyue.
The wealthy Young Master approached Lau Qingyue with a smirk tinged with malice. "Qingyue, you've finally agreed to meet me," he said.
The young man's words only deepened Zhang Chen's bewilderment.
It was Lau Qingyue who had invited this man.
Without looking up, Lau Qingyue's gentle voice invited, "Come and sit."
Her invitation was clearly meant for Zhang Chen.
Momentarily taken aback, Zhang Chen rose and made his way to Lau Qingyue's side, taking a seat beside her.
The Young Master's brow furrowed slightly, yet the malicious smile lingered on his face.
After a brief contemplation, the Young Master took the seat Zhang Chen had just vacated.
Zhang Chen had a sinking feeling about why Lau Qingyue had summoned him here, and his sense of helplessness grew.
Now that he was here, he had no choice but to wait in silence.
The Young Master studied Zhang Chen quietly before asking with a cheery tone, "What's your last name?"
Zhang Chen paused, surprised by the man's courtesy.
With the young man smiling at him, Zhang Chen returned the gesture. "I'm a Zhang."
Extending his hand, the Young Master introduced himself with a polite smile, "I'm Ouyang Zhe. You probably haven't heard of me."
Zhang Chen exchanged handshakes with him, feeling somewhat bewildered.
Why didn't this match his expectations?
Despite racking his brain, Zhang Chen couldn't recall any prominent Ningzhou family with the Ouyang surname.
"Indeed, I haven't heard of you," Zhang Chen responded cheerfully.
A spark of interest flickered in Ouyang Zhe's eyes as he maintained a gentle smile.
At first glance, Ouyang Zhe seemed quite naive.
Lau Qingyue spoke with a hint of impatience, "You must have figured it out by now. This is my husband, so you might as well let go of any hope."
As expected.
