C33 The Atmosphere Was Very Tense
Zhang Chen shook his head with a mocking tone, "You have such a short memory. Seems like you've already forgotten how Guang Tou spoke to you just now."
"You..."
Zheng Guoyuan was at a loss for words, his eyes glinting with a sinister light.
"How dare you!"
He could no longer contain his anger.
To be ridiculed by someone with such a notorious reputation – if he didn't respond, how could he show his face in Ningzhou again?
"Today, I'll make sure you learn your lesson, or you'll never understand how high the sky is or how deep the earth goes!"
"Come out!"
Zheng Guoyuan bellowed once more.
At his command, two bodyguards immediately stepped forward, flanking Zhang Chen.
Zhang Chen's lips curled into a cold smirk, yet he remained calm.
"Break his legs!" Zheng Guoyuan ordered furiously.
"Yes, sir!"
The bodyguards responded and charged at Zhang Chen with malevolent looks.
The other shareholders smirked coldly, watching the scene unfold as if it were mere entertainment.
Guang Tou's brow was furrowed, torn by indecision.
He wasn't sure what to do, but he had this nagging feeling that helping Zhang Chen would be to his advantage.
However, this was Zheng Guoyuan's personal affair.
As he hesitated, the bodyguards had already reached Zhang Chen.
Secretary Wu clutched her mouth, her eyes wide with alarm.
She couldn't believe Zhang Chen's recklessness; with no cards up his sleeve, he still chose to stand his ground.
But it was too late for regrets.
The bodyguards had Zhang Chen firmly by the shoulders.
Zheng Guoyuan's smirk grew more contemptuous.
But just as the bodyguards were about to exert force, a pair of large hands suddenly landed on their shoulders.
The bodyguards were instantly startled, fear flashing in their eyes.
Before they could react, they were overwhelmed by a tremendous force and sent flying backwards uncontrollably.
They crashed into the wall with two thuds, then collapsed to the ground, groaning in agony.
The room was filled with shock at the sight.
Everyone looked up, only to be stunned by the imposing figure that had appeared behind Zhang Chen!
Loong San was the man in question.
Zhang Chen let out a light chuckle, a wave of relief washing over him.
The others were completely taken aback, their eyes wide and jaws dropped in sheer amazement at the unfolding scene!
But before they could even process their shock, a blur of motion caught their attention—Loong San had swiftly positioned himself right in front of Zheng Guoyuan!
Zheng's eyes bulged in surprise, and before he could muster a response, he felt a vice-like grip on his neck!
With a single hand, Loong San hoisted him into the air!
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd!
Then, Loong San's icy voice cut through the tension, "You've shown Young Master Chen disrespect. Now, you're due for a slap."
No sooner had he spoken than his hand cracked across Zheng Guoyuan's cheek with a resounding slap!
A shadow flickered before everyone's eyes as Zheng Guoyuan's body was sent hurtling into the wall.
Blood spilled from his mouth.
When Zheng Guoyuan looked up again, his face was a swollen mess, blood smeared at the corner of his mouth, the very picture of misery.
The room fell silent, everyone frozen in shock.
They gazed at the imposing figure with palpable fear, even Guang Tou shivering uncontrollably.
It took a while, but Zheng Guoyuan eventually managed to stand, teeth clenched in pain.
"Who are you? We don't have any bad blood, do we?" he asked, his breaths short and ragged, struggling to contain his seething rage.
He had no recollection of any information about Loong San.
And he certainly couldn't fathom that the Lin family's son-in-law would have such a formidable ally.
A chilling light flickered in Loong San's eyes as he stood silently behind Zhang Chen, his stance making his position clear.
Zhang Chen's voice, light and teasing, broke the silence. "How high is the sky? How thick is the earth? I didn't quite catch that. Care to explain it to me again?"
"You..."
Zheng Guoyuan's neck veins throbbed with fury, his eyes nearly ablaze with anger.
"Come out!" he bellowed towards the door.
The crowd was startled anew. Did Zheng Guoyuan have another ace up his sleeve?
Their eyes darted to the doorway, but despite a tense wait, no figure appeared.
What was happening?
All eyes, filled with confusion, turned to Zheng Guoyuan.
What on earth was he up to?
Zheng Guoyuan's face darkened, his fists clenched in secret, yet he found himself unable to utter a single word.
Zhang Chen spoke with an even tone, "Sit down."
As Zhang Chen's words dissipated, Loong San's icy gaze swept over the crowd.
Everyone stiffened and instinctively resumed their seats.
Even Zheng Guoyuan couldn't bear the weight of that murderous stare, reluctantly biting down hard on his teeth and sitting back down, seething with indignation inside.
Secretary Wu, standing behind, was utterly flabbergasted, her eyes wide as she took in the unfolding scene.
It was only now that she truly grasped the extent of Zhang Chen's confidence.
Zhang Chen, however, ignored her reaction and casually surveyed the room.
"Starting today, I'm in full charge of managing this hotel. Does anyone object?"
He paused, scanning the faces before him.
Zheng Guoyuan made a move to rise, but the sight of Loong San made him reconsider and stay seated.
It was common knowledge that if Loong San made a move, not a soul in the room would make it out unscathed.
Zhang Chen continued, "Since none of you have spoken up, I'll assume you're in agreement."
"From this point forward, I expect you to take only what's rightfully yours. Should you take more, don't fault me for not being courteous!"
His voice took on a sharper edge by the end, lacking in force but not in the ability to make the crowd uneasy.
"And let me make this clear: from now on, any underhanded schemes are off the table. Get caught, and you're out permanently—and I'll reclaim your shares!"
Zhang Chen declared, his tone unyielding.
The crowd internally scoffed at his words.
Reclaim the shares? Really?
Skepticism shone in their eyes, yet no one dared to voice their doubts.
Zhang Chen was well aware of their skepticism but remained unfazed.
He was there simply to establish the new order.
As for the specifics, he intended to have a personal discussion with Chen Dafu after the meeting.
How could he run the hotel if the shares were in others' hands?
"Well, if there are no objections, this meeting is adjourned."
Having finished speaking, Zhang Chen leaned back in his chair once more, casually crossing his legs with an air of ease.
Zheng Guoyuan clenched his jaw, the flames of rage still wildly flickering in his eyes.
"Fine, we'll see about that!"
With those biting words, Zheng Guoyuan rose to his feet and strode out of the meeting room.
The others hastily followed suit, exiting in his wake.
Guang Tou gave Zhang Chen a glance, ultimately unable to voice his thoughts, and likewise stood up to leave.
But just as the group stepped out of the meeting room, they were all struck with astonishment!
