C48 Idiot!
The unexpected noise gave the big guy quite the scare.
Su Mang's frame even shivered slightly as he shot Zhang Chen an annoyed glance.
It took a moment for the tall man to regain his composure, his face etched with bewilderment.
Boss Chen fixed him with a withering stare.
A wave of fear washed over him, snapping him to attention.
"What the—?! Kid, you're the one who ran into my girl."
"I don't need your chump change! I'm out to get you now!"
His presence began to reassert itself.
Zhang Chen couldn't help but smile.
Dealing with people was tricky, but playing this fool was child's play!
Feigning anger, Zhang Chen challenged, "Stop lying. Is she really your woman?"
The tall man bellowed back, "Bullshit! Is she yours, then?"
Unfazed, Zhang Chen pressed on, "Alright, what's her name?"
Caught off guard, the tall man blurted out, "Zhang Cuiling."
Zhang Chen fired off another question, "How old is she?"
Panic surged in the tall man's chest, fearing a slip-up.
"Twenty-seven!"
Zhang Chen's sneer cut through the tension. "I didn't ask for her age."
The tall man faltered, "Then what—"
Curious eyes from the crowd now fixated on the woman.
Su Mang spat in disgust.
The woman whispered something from the safety of the big guy's embrace.
He caught on quickly and blurted out a response in desperation.
Zhang Chen scoffed, "Nonsense!"
The tall man, puzzled, demanded, "How do you know?"
The onlookers' stares turned peculiar once more. Su Mang gave Zhang Chen a sharp pinch.
The pain nearly forced a cry from Zhang Chen.
He bit back the pain and asked again, "How tall is she?"
The tall man, his anxiety mounting, answered without missing a beat, "1.65 meters!"
"And her weight?"
"100 kilograms!"
The words tumbled out of him.
A glint of triumph flashed in Zhang Chen's eyes as he asked once more, "And who's your boss?"
The tall man replied hastily, "Boss Chen!"
Realization of his mistake dawned on him, and his face twisted into an embarrassed grimace.
"Oh."
At that revelation, a collective murmur of realization rippled through the crowd.
A smirk played at the corners of Su Mang's and Yee Qingchen's lips.
Before long, the crowd's attention shifted to Boss Chen, their eyes glinting with anger.
"Useless!" Boss Chen hissed, his gaze seething with fury.
Zhang Chen's lips curled into a cold smirk as he silently waited.
The tall man's eyes flashed with panic, and he instinctively raised his hand to his mouth, his furious gaze locked onto Zhang Chen. He hadn't anticipated Zhang Chen's slyness.
With a mischievous grin, Zhang Chen taunted, "Ah, Boss Chen, wasn't he your friend? How did he end up as your lackey?"
Boss Chen shot the tall man a fierce look before stepping forward.
Eventually, a smile crept onto Boss Chen's face, and he said calmly, "I treat my subordinates as friends. Do you have a problem with that?"
His logic seemed sound, but the onlookers weren't naive. They quickly caught on.
Whispers of dissent began to spread like wildfire.
"I never imagined this bar was so corrupt! They've stooped to such tactics. The raffle was a sham all along!"
"I knew it, a conspiracy!"
"I'm never coming back here. We should call the cops! Good thing I'm not that attractive..."
The murmurs swelled, casting a shadow over Boss Chen's already darkening expression.
He might be the boss, but he was just the manager; the bar was Mr. Hwa's property!
If he let this bar fall apart on his watch...
The thought sent shivers down Boss Chen's spine, his eyes blazing with unbridled rage.
His icy stare bore into the tall man.
In a fluster, the tall man blurted out, "Boss, this isn't my fault!"
"If it were, I'd have already nabbed the two of them."
He clamped his hand over his mouth again before he could finish, his eyes wide with alarm.
Zhang Chen chuckled.
Boss Chen's face was a mask of brooding anger, his fists clenched so tight he looked ready to strike the tall man dead.
Laughter erupted around them, and the chatter grew even louder, all of it aimed squarely at Boss Chen.
