C5 Divorce?

"This guy really has a death wish, with even Mr. Hwa's right-hand man, Qiang, showing up!"

"Exactly. Who doesn't know that the Lee family's eldest son is tight with Ningzhou's underground kingpin, Mr. Hwa! And yet he dares to cross the second young master?"

"This fool is asking for it. Better off dead, if you ask me. And there he goes, acting all nonchalant. It's sickening!"

The onlookers joined in the chatter, their eyes brimming with contempt.

Upon hearing their words, Lee Junyi's face swelled with boundless arrogance, as if he could already envision Zhang Chen's dire fate.

He let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Zhang Chen, this is goodbye!"

But in the blink of an eye, the five hulking men came to a sudden halt.

Their eyes bulged with shock, a look of sheer horror painted across their faces.

Zhang Chen was taken aback.

Were these the same guys?

Indeed, standing before him were the very brutes who had tried to scam him earlier, led by none other than Guang Tou himself.

What are the odds?

For a brief moment, everyone was rooted to the spot in disbelief.

Lee Junyi, bewildered, prodded, "Qiang, what's the hold-up? Finish him off already!"

Yet they remained motionless.

Zhang Chen's tension melted away, a sly grin creeping across his lips. "You're here to kill me?"

His question left everyone dumbfounded.

What in the world was happening?

Lee Junyi's eyes were wide with bewilderment, his confusion deepening.

Guang Tou's fists were clenched, his gaze flickering with indecision.

His rage hadn't cooled, but he feared that terrifying woman.

As he wavered, his eyes landed on Su Mang standing behind Zhang Chen.

A bomb went off in Guang Tou's mind, his mouth twitching uncontrollably.

"No, no, you're kidding, right? I wouldn't dare lay a finger on you!" Guang Tou stammered, his body involuntarily bowing.

The four men behind him were sweating bullets, their faces plastered with forced grins.

His abrupt about-face left everyone in shock.

The crowd gaped in astonishment.

Lin Zhiqing's mouth hung open as she lifted her head, her expression one of utter amazement.

Things were definitely not going as she had anticipated.

Lee Junyi was lost, utterly clueless as to what had just unfolded.

"Qiang, what's going on? Stop messing around and get on with it!" Lee Junyi urged, taking two quick steps forward, his voice laced with urgency.

Guang Tou inhaled sharply, teeth clenched, and muttered, "I'm sorry, Young Master Lee, we can't get involved in this."

Zhang Chen was equally taken aback, reveling in the unexpected thrill of the situation.

With that, Guang Tou turned and walked away, his crew of burly men in tow.

Lee Junyi's anxiety spiked. Losing face in front of this crowd was not an option.

"Hold it right there!"

He bellowed, his roar echoing, "I ordered you to take him down! If you don't act now, I'm calling my brother this instant!"

His words brought Guang Tou and his men to a halt, their minds a whirlwind of conflict. They were caught between a rock and a hard place, unable to cross Su Mang or the Lee family's young master.

What were they to do?

After a lengthy pause, Guang Tou reached a decision. Crossing the young master of the Lee family might lead to a harsh reprimand, but crossing Su Mang could mean death right here, right now.

Guang Tou turned back around, and Lee Junyi's tension eased. He believed his status had intimidated Guang Tou.

The onlookers relaxed as well, their faces once again twisting into smirks of mockery. This was the drama they were expecting.

As Guang Tou looked up, ready to defy Lee Junyi, a peripheral glance at Su Mang and her entourage made him shudder.

In a flash, he realized the nine bodyguards had drawn their guns once more, aiming squarely at them.

The five hulking men inhaled sharply in fear.

Su Mang gave Lee Junyi a contemptuous tilt of her head.

A chill ran down Guang Tou's spine.

Oblivious to the unfolding drama, Lee Junyi's anger surged as he saw the hesitation. "I said attack! Are you all deaf?" he thundered at the men.

He was convinced that his authority as the Lee family's young master would easily overpower Guang Tou and his men.

But Guang Tou's fists were clenched tight, his simmering rage now fully ignited by Lee Junyi's commanding shouts.

"We're not deaf, no need to yell!"

Guang Tou looked up, his eyes flashing dangerously.

Lee Junyi was taken aback, and so were the onlookers.

Guang Tou bellowed angrily, "You expect us to beat up my brother? Have you lost your mind?"

"Brothers, get him!"

With Guang Tou's command, the enraged man charged at Lee Junyi!

Brother?

The crowd gasped in shock, their eyes widening.

Zhang Chen was Qiang's brother?

All eyes turned to Zhang Chen in astonishment.

Even Lin Zhiqing was at a loss for words!

Guang Tou knew that crossing Zhang Chen meant certain death here.

But if they crossed Young Master Lee, there was still a sliver of hope for survival.

The corridor was filled with a heavy thud.

"Ah!"

Lee Junyi's piercing scream followed, echoing to the heavens.

His two bodyguards were petrified, cowering in a corner, one even having the presence of mind to call for an ambulance.

Five minutes later, Lee Junyi's screams had dwindled to feeble groans.

Guang Tou signaled with a wave of his hand, and the burly men ceased their assault.

"Brother, give me a call if you need anything. We're heading out."

Guang Tou clapped Zhang Chen on the shoulder warmly. He snuck a glance at Su Mang's spot, and seeing the pistol gone, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhang Chen responded with a grin, "Big brother, take care."

This incident provided him with an explanation for the Lin family.

The burly men soon vanished from Zhang Chen's view.

Lee Junyi lay on the ground, bloodied and twitching, barely clinging to life.

Before long, the ambulance arrived, and Zhang Chen carried Lee Junyi out.

The two bodyguards shot Zhang Chen a venomous look before scrambling out of the hotel in a panic.

The crowd gradually thinned out.

Before long, only Zhang Chen and Lin Zhiqing remained in the corridor.

After the tumultuous events, Lin Zhiqing had sobered up considerably. She slowly got to her feet.

Zhang Chen dropped his smile and asked in an even tone, "You knew he harbored bad intentions towards you. Why take the risk?"

Lin Zhiqing's brows knitted together in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Before she could finish her sentence, a sudden realization struck her.

Her contract was in tatters, her patron assaulted, and the instigator of it all stood right before her!

"Why are you questioning me? Do you have any idea of the trouble you've caused me? The losses you've inflicted on the Lin family?"

Lin Zhiqing was seething with rage.

Her heart was in anguish.

The Lin family's opportunity for redemption had slipped away!

Zhang Chen gave a self-deprecating chuckle.

The alcohol only intensified the sense of injustice brewing within him.

He set aside the fact that he had saved her, perplexed by her willingness to risk so much for a mere contract.

What if he hadn't been there?

Zhang Chen's heart was torn between sympathy and fury.

Without another word, he turned and strode down the corridor.

Lin Zhiqing's gaze was clouded with bewilderment.

What was this attitude?

The sense of injustice and the flames of anger in Lin Zhiqing's heart flared up once more. She shouted furiously, "Zhang Chen, there's no need for you to come back to the Lin family. We're getting a divorce tomorrow!"

Zhang Chen, equally incensed, responded icily, "As you wish."

With that, he vanished into the corridor's end.

Lin Zhiqing stood rooted to the spot, her lovely eyes awash with confusion.

Was that truly Zhang Chen?

It took a considerable time for Lin Zhiqing to come to her senses.

Biting her lip, her eyes sparked with fury, but ultimately, she turned and made her way out of the hotel.

Meanwhile, Zhang Chen returned directly to the private room.

Su Mang, cheeks flushed, swirled her wine glass, expressing her disappointment, "She's quite attractive, but her temper leaves much to be desired."

"And her judgment is lacking."
