C61 Yee Qingsong!?
Tang Guozhong looked up, his brow deeply furrowed. "You..."
Lin Zhiqing's voice was icy. "I've already told you, it wasn't me."
Lin Junkai's voice was harsh as he barked, "We have both witnesses and evidence. How can you still deny it?"
Before Lin Zhiqing could respond, Tang Guozhong cut her off with a frigid tone, "Enough! It doesn't matter who's responsible at this point. What's crucial is that we use the next two hours to figure out how to bring Godly Doctor Qingyue here!"
"Otherwise..."
His words struck a chord, and everyone snapped to attention.
But summoning Godly Doctor Qingyue was easier said than done.
Lin Zhiqing bit her lip.
Only by bringing Godly Doctor Qingyue could they heal Old Master Lin and vindicate her.
Tang Guozhong's piercing gaze landed on Lin Zhiqing as he stated coldly, "Whether or not Old Master Lin can be saved, if you are indeed the one who poisoned him, you will face the full force of the law. I will not let you get away with this."
Lin Zhiqing's frame trembled once more.
She clung to a sliver of hope, even though she knew just how faint it was.
Despite her long search, she hadn't uncovered a single lead on Godly Doctor Qingyue.
At his words, all eyes turned to Lin Zhiqing, each filled with unbridled anger.
Suddenly, Lin Zhiqing found herself the center of everyone's wrath.
Zhang Chen stepped forward, his tone light and teasing, "Without any evidence, you can't be so certain."
The crowd's anger pivoted to Zhang Chen in an instant.
"What are you implying? Are you blind?" Lin Junkai clenched his teeth, his voice seething with fury.
...
He dared to make excuses?
Zhang Chen's smile widened. "Since when is Mrs. Wang the definitive witness? Is her word law? What if you two are in cahoots?"
A flicker of hope shone in Lin Zhiqing's eyes amidst the chaos. At this juncture, all she could do was cling to the possibility of a surprise from Zhang Chen.
"Zhang Chen! That's nonsense!"
"Mrs. Wang was handpicked by the Old Master himself to attend to him. She's been nothing but diligent for years, never once abandoning the Lin family! Why would she ever harm the Old Master?"
Zhang Chen's smile solidified as he turned to see Lee Fengqin standing there, her face etched with disgust.
A sudden, violent urge to slap her surged within him!
He even started to suspect that Lee Fengqin was in cahoots with Lin Junkai!
Taking a deep breath, Zhang Chen fought to quell the rage bubbling inside him and said coolly, "The Old Master hasn't awakened yet; nothing's been decided. Once he does, the truth will come to light."
But no sooner had he spoken than Lee Fengqin's disdainful voice cut in, "Enough with your blather, will you? Didn't you hear Mr. Tang? Only Godly Doctor Qingyue can save the Old Master, and here you are, adding to the chaos!"
"Don't make a fool of us!"
"The Lin family's affairs are none of your concern. Just get out!"
Disappointment clouded Lin Zhiqing's eyes.
She had hoped Zhang Chen would produce some solid evidence, but all he offered was more empty talk.
With a frown and a hint of irritation, Zhang Chen retorted, "I'm not deaf. I've already located Godly Doctor Qingyue; she'll be here shortly."
His words brought a hush over the room.
Incredulous stares fixed on Zhang Chen, not so much shocked that he had found Godly Doctor Qingyue, but that he could be so brazenly shameless!
Tang Guozhong snorted coldly and turned away.
Lin Guofeng and Lin Guolong's expressions darkened, while Lin Junkai's sneer grew.
Only Lin Miao's gaze flickered with complex emotions.
Teeth clenched in fury, Lee Fengqin snapped, "Have you lost your mind?"
"What's wrong with you?"
"How can the Lin family have someone like you?"
"Just go!"
Lin Zhiqing's words were accompanied by her moving toward Zhang Chen and shoving him forcefully.
Zhang Chen's frown deepened as his anger rose.
But glancing at Old Master Lin lying in the hospital bed, he swallowed his anger and walked out of the ward.
Lin Zhiqing sighed inwardly.
Time was running out, and now she had to pin her last hopes on Yee Qingsong.
After all, he was the most formidable ally she had managed to find in recent days.
With this thought in mind, Lin Zhiqing pulled out her phone and dialed as she stepped out of the hospital room.
The call connected quickly, and Lin Zhiqing spoke with courteous formality, "Hello, Young Master Yee, this is Lin Zhiqing."
Zhang Chen, sitting dumbfounded at the doorway, overheard her words.
Young Master Yee? Yee Qingsong?
Zhang Chen's mind raced with confusion. Why was Lin Zhiqing calling Yee Qingsong?
But before he could grasp more of the conversation, Lin Zhiqing was already out of earshot, leaving him feeling even more helpless.
What had seemed like a straightforward issue had become unnecessarily complex.
Finding a secluded spot, Lin Zhiqing's voice carried a hint of desperation, "Young Master Yee, my grandfather's time is running out. Without Godly Doctor Qingyue, he'll have no chance at all."
"What?" came Yee Qingsong's astonished response.
Lin Zhiqing bit her lip, urgency in her tone. "I can't afford to explain right now. All my hopes rest with you."
"Young Master Yee, please, I'm begging you to help me."
The difficulty Lin Zhiqing had in voicing this plea underscored the depth of Old Master Lin's significance to her.
Yee Qingsong responded promptly, "Zhiqing, we've been like family since childhood. Your grandfather is like my own."
"Rest assured, I'll call my father this instant. We'll spare no effort to bring the godly doctor to you!"
Lin Zhiqing's voice trembled with gratitude, "Okay, thank you."
Yee Qingsong chuckled, "No need for formalities between us. Just promise me a good meal later. I'm going to hang up now and call my dad."
Lin Zhiqing nodded firmly, "Okay."
Once the call ended, a wave of relief washed over Lin Zhiqing.
Yee Qingsong was now her last beacon of hope.
After a moment's hesitation, she turned and made her way back to the ward.
Zhang Chen remained seated, still lost in his thoughts at the entrance.
He perked up at the sound of footsteps, a smile breaking across his face. He was about to approach her with an explanation, but Lin Zhiqing passed by without so much as a glance in his direction.
