C76 The Annoying Girl!
"I don't recognize her," Zhang Chen said, furrowing his brow.
Secretary Wu hastily added, "She's just a young girl, seventeen or eighteen, heavily made up and scantily clad."
The image of the woman from the hotel the day before flashed in Zhang Chen's mind. Could it be her?
With a deepening frown, Zhang Chen responded, "I'm tied up with something right now. Just find a way to handle her."
The urgent affairs of the Lin family were pressing, and Zhang Chen had no desire to concern himself with the girl.
However, Secretary Wu replied with a tone of resignation, "Young Master Chen, this girl seems to wield some influence. She's gone and blocked the hotel entrance."
"If you don't show up, our guests can't even get in."
She blocked the door? Was this Zhao Xingchun's doing, a ploy for revenge?
Annoyed, Zhang Chen mulled it over before reluctantly conceding, "Understood. I'll be there shortly."
Secretary Wu breathed a sigh of relief.
After hanging up, Zhang Chen felt a sense of helplessness wash over him. He pondered a moment, realizing that Lin Junkai's issue would likely take a while to unfold, so he had time to deal with the hotel situation. The day's revenue was not something to overlook.
"We'll head to the hotel," Zhang Chen said with a sense of resignation.
Loong San gave a nod of agreement.
Zhang Chen, unsteady on his feet, made his way out of the villa and headed for the hotel.
Ten minutes later, the car came to a stop. Zhang Chen exited and made his way to the entrance, his body aching with every step.
Loong San didn't accompany him but parked the car nearby instead.
Without further hesitation and fighting through the pain, Zhang Chen entered the hotel and scanned the area. He noticed several waitstaff lined up, with Secretary Wu's face reflecting a helpless frustration.
There, in the center, sat the young girl from yesterday, reclining in a chair with her legs elegantly crossed. She was dressed in a green top and white shorts, her pale skin exposed beneath the layers of bold makeup.
Today, Zhang Chen could see that her features were even more refined than he had imagined, particularly her bright, expressive eyes. Yet, the heavy makeup did her natural beauty no favors...
Aside from the young girl, Zhang Chen didn't spot anyone else.
"Looking for me?" he asked, furrowing his brow in confusion.
He had suspected Zhao Xingchun was out for revenge, but now he wasn't so sure.
What does she want with me?
Han Qiqi tilted her head back slightly and commanded, "Come and sit."
Her tone was haughty, as though she was ordering a servant around.
Zhang Chen's frown deepened.
He hesitated, then made his way over with effort.
Noticing this, Han Qiqi's eyebrows arched, a smirk of scorn playing on her lips.
Soon, Zhang Chen was seated across from Han Qiqi.
A sharp pain caused him to sharply inhale.
"You put up a tough front yesterday. Someone beat you up?" Han Qiqi asked, her voice dripping with contempt.
Zhang Chen, taken aback, asked, "What are you talking about?"
Han Qiqi scoffed, "Not bad acting, but you're saying too much."
"Weren't you beaten up yesterday?"
Her smile was smug, convinced she had unraveled the truth.
She thinks Zhao Xingchun beat me up?
A flicker of resignation passed through Zhang Chen's gaze, but he wasn't in the mood to set her straight.
"What do you want with me?" he asked, his patience wearing thin.
His silence led Han Qiqi to believe he was conceding to her assumption, her disdain growing more pronounced.
"I'm just bored and felt like playing with you," Han Qiqi said nonchalantly, toying with her fingers.
Zhang Chen chuckled, genuinely puzzled. "Do we even know each other that well?"
"My dad won't let me go out to play. I don't listen to him; I insist on going out," Han Qiqi stated matter-of-factly.
"Zhao Xingchun and the rest are scared of my dad. They wouldn't dare bother me, and I don't want to cause them trouble."
"That's why I've come to you."
Her complaint was evident in her tone.
Zhang Chen paused, taking it in.
She was at that rebellious age, and her behavior made sense in a way – clearly, she'd been coddled.
Zhang Chen spoke with a sense of resignation, "So, you've come to target me, is that it?"
Han Qiqi flashed a triumphant grin. "I did feel a bit reluctant at first, but after watching your little performance earlier, I must say, it's eased my conscience considerably."
"You're the kind of person who needs a good lesson."
Zhang Chen's mouth twitched involuntarily.
The justification was painfully irritating.
Suddenly, a crisp sound rang out.
Looking up in astonishment, Zhang Chen saw Han Qiqi casually lighting up a cigarette.
She was smoking?
Disgust washed over him, and impatience began to gnaw at his insides.
"Enough, you can go now. I'm not in the mood for games. Don't hold up my business."
Zhang Chen rolled his eyes and struggled to his feet.
"Who said you could leave?" Han Qiqi exhaled a plume of smoke, her tone teasing.
It was obvious that Han Qiqi was a novice smoker.
Zhang Chen halted and snorted with laughter, "And what exactly would you do if I just walked out?"
Han Qiqi shrugged nonchalantly, "You won't get far. I'll be right on your heels wherever you go."
"If you don't comply, your hotel will get trashed, and your business will suffer."
The smile vanished from Zhang Chen's face as he inquired, "Is this a threat?"
With a sly smile, Han Qiqi replied, "I'm aware of how formidable that man yesterday was, but it doesn't matter. Today, I've come with backup."
"You're out of options."
A cold smirk played on Zhang Chen's lips as he challenged, "Do you really think you can intimidate me just because you've brought some muscle?"
