C9 Why Don't I Try??

Lin Zhiqing finished speaking and made her way straight to the villa.

Overnight, the fury in Lin Zhiqing's heart had significantly subsided.

Shortly thereafter, Lin Zhiqing led Zhang Chen into the villa.

The first-floor hall was crowded with people. Members of the Lin family were seated on one side, with other distinguished guests on the opposite side.

All eyes were fixed nervously on the second-floor staircase, and no one noticed their entrance.

Before long, Lin Zhiqing and Zhang Chen found a quiet corner to sit and wait.

A noise soon echoed from upstairs, prompting everyone to look up in unison.

An elderly man in a white coat appeared at the top of the stairs, his hair white and his demeanor gentle.

This was Tang Guozhong, the deputy director of the Central Hospital.

Lin Guofeng, the Lin family's eldest son, stood up and asked with urgency, "Mr. Tang, how is my father? Is he in any danger?"

Tang Guozhong slowly removed his glasses, letting out a sigh.

Lin Zhiqing's body gave a slight shudder, and the faces of the Lin family members were etched with deep concern.

After a pause, Tang Guozhong finally spoke, "His body has become resistant to the medication. I'm afraid conservative treatment with drugs is no longer an option."

"Then what can be done?" Lin Junkai's father stepped forward, his voice laced with desperation.

Tang Guozhong shook his head, "I have a method, but it's almost as if I have none."

"The Old Master now needs surgery, but the tumor is adjacent to his heart. Such an operation is beyond anyone's capability!"

"Unless..."

His words hung in the air, filling the room with a sense of eager anticipation.

Someone pressed, "Mr. Tang, please, continue."

Tang Guozhong spoke again, "Unless we can persuade Godly Doctor Qingyue to intervene. If she agrees to lend her aid, there might still be hope for the Old Master."

Zhang Chen was taken aback.

Why did the name Godly Doctor Qingyue sound so familiar?

Lin Guolong, with a furrowed brow, inquired, "Mr. Tang, who exactly is Godly Doctor Qingyue?"

Tang Guozhong looked up, his eyes reflecting a deep reverence, "Godly Doctor Qingyue is a disciple of the divine!"

"Her medical expertise is nothing short of miraculous!"

As he spoke, a collective gasp rippled through the crowd.

Tang Guozhong went on, "I was fortunate enough to meet her just once. To request her presence is akin to scaling the heavens!"

In that moment, a wave of silent awe washed over everyone.

It wasn't until then that Zhang Chen, tucked away in a corner, suddenly realized that the revered Godly Doctor Qingyue was none other than his Fourth Sister, Lau Qingyue!

Were her medical skills truly that formidable?

Zhang Chen had his doubts, but he couldn't think of anyone else but Lau Qingyue.

A stir broke out in the hall.

"I heard that even the Prime Minister of Taiyang Country failed to secure Godly Doctor Qingyue for treatment!"

"Exactly, and Godly Doctor Qingyue is practically impossible to find."

The buzz of conversation grew as everyone speculated, yet no one believed they could actually bring Godly Doctor Qingyue here.

Lin Junkai and the others were disheartened.

Lin Guofeng rose to his feet, his gaze methodically sweeping over the Lin family members.

After a lengthy pause, he declared, "Our top priority is to bring her to our home."

"Does anyone here have the means to do so?"

He finished, surveying the room.

Heads bowed all around.

A heavy silence engulfed the hall.

Disappointment filled Lin Guofeng's eyes as he raised his voice, "With so many young people in the Lin family, is there not one among you with the courage to step forward?"

The family's reputation was at stake—if no one responded in front of this crowd, it would be a collective embarrassment.

Yet, as his words hung in the air, silence persisted.

Smirks of derision began to curl on the lips of onlookers, who watched the Lin family in quiet judgment.

Lin Guofeng sighed deeply.

Just as all seemed lost, a tentative voice broke through, "Perhaps I should give it a try?"

Instantly, all eyes snapped to Zhang Chen.

The room went still.

Zhang Chen was well-known, and few there did not recognize him.

Yet, it was a surprise to all that he was the one to step forward.

Lin Zhiqing was dumbfounded, whispering urgently, "What are you up to?"

With a knowing smile, Zhang Chen replied, "You'll see soon enough."

Lin Zhiqing's gaze was clouded with uncertainty, and a sense of inexplicable urgency gripped her heart. They were in a dire situation; failing to locate the godly doctor would mean the loss of Old Master Lin's life and a stain on the Lin family's honor.

Zhang Chen, however, remained calm. He was almost certain that Lau Qingyue was indeed the Fourth Sister. His priority was to rescue Old Master Lin without delay.

It was at this juncture that the Lin family members finally snapped to attention. A frigid voice cut through the air, "Zhang Chen, who do you think you are? Since when did you become the Lin family's spokesperson?"

Turning, Zhang Chen saw Lin Guolong's son, Lin Junkai, was the one challenging him. With a smirk, Zhang Chen replied, "Cousin, you seem quite bold. Perhaps you'd like to step in?"

Lin Junkai was momentarily speechless. He lacked the capability to find Godly Doctor Qingyue, and frankly, he had no desire to do so. Old Master Lin had always disfavored him, stifling his prospects within Lin's Group. In a twisted way, the Old Master's illness could be seen as an opportunity for him.

Fuming, Lin Junkai barked, "Enough with your pointless chatter. I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Tang just once. What makes you think you can do any better?"

"Don't bring shame upon the Lin family here!"

"My uncle was addressing the Lin family, not you, the son-in-law!"

His words drew sneers from many within the Lin clan. Onlookers folded their arms, eagerly anticipating the drama unfolding before them.

Zhang Chen's smile vanished, replaced by a glint of icy resolve in his eyes.
