C26 Instructor Solina

Only a short time had passed since the fire broke out, yet the air was already tinged with the scent of charred meat. Ironically, the books that were meant to smother the flames ended up igniting Cliff's trousers instead.

Just then, a water orb from Solina struck Master Clive, soaking him through and leaving him gasping for air.

"Cliff, after you've treated yourself in the infirmary, come to my office. Zhang Xing, you're with me now!" Solina said, casting a meaningful glance at Zhang Xing before departing.

Upon reaching Solina's office, Zhang Xing blurted out before she even had a chance to sit down, "Instructor Solina, I swear I'm innocent! I'm the one who's been wronged here!"

Instructor Solina turned to face Zhang Xing, who wore an expression of pure innocence. She nearly laughed but managed to restrain herself.

Zhang Xing's expressions were indeed priceless. He had remarked on his first day that it would be a shame if she didn't pursue a career in acting.

She couldn't fathom what was going on in his head.

His description of the so-called movie made it sound like a clown act enjoyed by the aristocracy, yet it also seemed to involve some complex magic. Clearly, her imagination couldn't match Zhang Xing's.

Once seated, Solina spoke with gravity, "Zhang Xing, I'm aware that none of this was your fault. And you weren't wrong to retaliate with a Fireball against Cliff. However, your actions could still land you in serious trouble."

"You're young and may not realize that these noble children are not to be provoked—especially by someone without the means to do so."

"The academy treats everyone equally and certainly doesn't disdain commoners' children. So, rest assured on that front."

"From now on, whatever happens, you must not leave the school grounds alone. If you find yourself unable to handle a situation, come to me. Remember what I've told you."

"Do you understand?"

Zhang Xing felt a surge of gratitude. "I've got it, Instructor Solina!"

With lips pursed in determination, Zhang Xing nodded solemnly, the very picture of maturity.

Instructor Solina couldn't help but smile. Zhang Xing was remarkably gifted, earnest in his studies, and possessed a steadiness beyond his years.

Despite his unassuming demeanor, he was incredibly shrewd. She could also tell that his mastery over the magical elements was impressively advanced.

However, his lack of participation in activities and absence of credits meant he couldn't study the basic magic skills.

As fond as she was of Zhang Xing, she couldn't tutor him in secret. Breaking the academy's rules was out of the question.

Then, a lightbulb went off for Instructor Solina.

"Zhang Xing, there's a placement exam for new students in three days. If you land in the top ten, you'll earn a significant credit reward. That would qualify you to learn the basic magic skills!"

Zhang Xing wavered, uncertain.

Instructor Solina, puzzled, asked, "What's making you hesitate?"

She stated resolutely, "This is it, then. You mustn't hold back your abilities any longer. You're just a kid; why are you already playing it safe?"

"Don't worry. The academy's elders see great potential in you. They won't fuss over a few secrets you're keeping."

With that, Instructor Solina gave a knowing smile, her expression suggesting that they were already privy to Zhang Xing's little secrets.

Zhang Xing felt a jolt of surprise. Had he been found out so soon?

Yet, he maintained a composed facade.

"Instructor Solina, I'll take your advice!"

Solina scrutinized Zhang Xing's every nuanced expression as he spoke, searching for something amiss. Finding none, she wondered if she had been mistaken.

"Alright, it's settled. Use the next couple of days to prepare and aim for a top spot in three days!"
