C35 Your Honor Personally Defended Zhang Xing

Cliff rose to his feet with a sneer.

"Great God of Magic, I am your devoted follower. I seek your shelter. Grant me your strength!"

A white light bathed him momentarily, but it vanished after a mere three seconds.

Zhang Xing's shield, however, remained intact.

Yet, there was no time constraint specified for this question.

"Zhang Xing's response is utter nonsense. The Shield Arts originated from the Six Towers Association. My answer stands!"

The expressions of the ten panelist mentors varied, but they all shared a common doubt: Why did Zhang Xing persist in referencing non-traditional history?

The textbooks of the Heavenly Star Empire clearly outlined the facts, and the primary magic theory knowledge was recorded with exceptional detail.

He must have seen it. Perhaps he only retained the details of the first question.

That must be it. Otherwise, his answers wouldn't be so inconsistent.

The instructors quickly pinpointed the source of Zhang Xing's fabrications.

They then conferred in hushed tones.

"Mr. Zhang, we, the mentors, are united in our critique: Refrain from spouting nonsense."

"Furthermore, please do not mistake the impractical tales circulated among the impoverished for historical fact, understood?"

"Should you repeat this error, we shall speak on behalf of the Holy Roland Academy of Magic and Martial Arts."

"Enough!"

Ta Er's reprimand was cut short by a commanding shout.

The speaker was none other than Jie Ge, the esteemed third President of the Devil Martial Academy, one of the last of the Six Great Devil Emperors, and the Vice President of the Magician Guild.

"It is you who are uninformed, spewing drivel!"

"You wish to represent the Holy Roland Academy of Magic and Martial Arts?"

"You represent nothing!"

"You label him 'poor.' You're nobles, but without the poor, where would your nobility stem from?"

"Three centuries ago, your forebears were mere savages!"

In response, the ten mentors promptly stood, heads bowed, bodies bent forward, right hands over their hearts. They paid homage to the President with the utmost reverence known to the magical community.

"Your Honor!"

All the students also rose, performing the customary salute, and in chorus, they proclaimed, "Your Honor!"

Everyone respectfully bowed, attentively listening to Your Honor's admonishments, not daring to lift their gaze.

President Jager strode briskly from the entrance to the forefront.

"Starting with the second question, Mr. Zhang was faultless. His responses were entirely accurate."

"Your initial reactions were understandable. However, the behavior of some was completely unacceptable."

"You are all mentors at the Devil Martial Academy; you are teachers. The students are observing your every word and deed."

"For the third question, even if you found it difficult to draw a conclusion, have you all gone blind?"

"Can't you recognize Mr. Zhang's magic talent? Can't you see that his Shield Arts are still intact?"

The ten mentors hung their heads even lower.

Solina was elated; her father had sternly reprimanded these individuals.

Zhang Xing lifted his small head to watch President Jager.

At last, someone had stepped forward to champion justice. This venerable gentleman with the white beard was truly remarkable!

Surely, the Devil Martial Academy couldn't lack even one perceptive individual.

President Jager wasn't very tall, his plump, round face bearing few wrinkles. Were it not for his snowy hair and beard, he might pass for a man in his forties.

What Zhang Xing was unaware of was that President Jager was not particularly old; he had only recently turned fifty.
