C54 Speed!
From the sixth floor of Skysplit Tower, the real test of a student's endurance and wisdom begins. Zhang Xing didn't resort to the indirect tactics employed by his peers, who engaged in constant guerrilla warfare with the Demonic Wolves. He faced his challenges head-on, maintaining this approach even on the ninth floor. Tactical considerations wouldn't come into play for him until he reached the 28th floor.
Thus, under the barrage of his Meteor Shower magic, over four hundred Demonic Wolves were reduced to nothingness. Zhang Xing had resolved each battle from the first to the ninth level with a single move, taking only nine breaths to pass through.
Displayed outside Skysplit Tower, Zhang Xing's progress number was nine, while Teddy's was only seven. This sparked a flurry of conversation among the students.
"Zhang Xing's speed is incredible!"
"His approach is so over the top!"
Great Magic Instructor Pigu, tasked with overseeing the tower, shook his head in disapproval. He thought to himself, "They're still so young, here to hone their spiritual will, not to race against each other."
"Other newcomers don't bulldoze through their first trial like he does. With his mental energy depleting so rapidly, how will he handle the later challenges?"
"His temperament is not as steady as Your Honor suggested. We'll have to see how he fares moving forward."
On the tenth floor, the Intermediate Demonic Beast Wind Snake made its appearance. Known for its lightning speed, it wielded Fire Element magic, launching fire arrows laced with toxins that could paralyze its victims.
Kai Erduo watched the numbers for Zhang Xing with unwavering focus, his fists clenched tightly. He whispered under his breath, "Come on, Zhang Xing! Take down Teddy!"
"Kai Erduo, why so tense?"
A short man, one of Teddy's followers, slung an arm around Kai Erduo's shoulders, sporting a roguish grin.
"Get off me! Don't touch me!" Kai Erduo struggled, but the grip was too strong.
"Just because you're siding with that nobody Zhang Xing doesn't mean you're any tougher. He's got a long way to go."
"Zhang Xing is way out of your league. If you're so capable, why don't you challenge him?" Kai Erduo challenged with a defiant tone.
"Teddy's going to take him down. Then we'll see what Zhang Xing does," came the confident reply.
"Teddy doesn't stand a chance against Zhang Xing. Just look at that." Kai Erduo pointed excitedly at the display, indicating the number.
"How can that be?" The shorter man stared in astonishment at the number above Zhang Xing's name, stuttering, "The eighteenth floor!"
From the tenth to the eighteenth floor, the difficulty remained consistent with the earlier levels, yet the number of Wind Snakes steadily increased. But this was a challenge meant solely for Zhang Xing.
Meanwhile, Teddy had only just conquered the ninth floor. He was now frantically using the precious minutes allotted by the rules to replenish his energy.
After a few minutes, Teddy rose to his feet, his energy significantly restored, a look of satisfaction spreading across his face. "I'm faster than before, and I've conserved more energy."
"Zhang Xing, no matter how skilled you are, today's the day I beat you. You're probably still fighting your way through the ninth floor!"
"Facing the onslaught of over four hundred Demonic Wolves is a battle you've never encountered before."
"Sure, you might be stronger in a one-on-one fight, but you'll meet a grim end under such an onslaught."
On the nineteenth floor, Zhang Xing surveyed the charred landscape before him, with fiery red magma encircling the burnt ground, bubbling and radiating heat intermittently.
Suddenly, the tranquil magma began to churn violently.
Two beasts with deep crimson eyes emerged from the depths.
A sense of dread washed over Zhang Xing.
He was facing High-Level Demonic Beasts – Fire Lizards!
