C48 No One Can Save Him!

The pharmacy was eerily quiet at the start of the workday, with only a bored pharmacist idly playing on his phone.

Ye Yu burst through the door.

Startled by the sudden entrance, the pharmacist, engrossed in his game, relaxed when he saw a high school student approach. "Hello, what can I help you with?"

"Do you carry acupuncture needles?" Ye Yu inquired urgently.

"Yes, which type are you looking for?" The pharmacist's brow furrowed, wondering why a high schooler would need acupuncture needles.

Ye Yu hesitated, clueless about the different types. "Any kind will do!"

The pharmacist, still perplexed, suggested professionally, "How about I find you a commonly used model?"

"That works!"

Meanwhile, outside, a crowd was anxiously gathered around an elderly man who had collapsed.

"Make way! I'm a doctor!" a voice called from the fringe of the crowd.

The onlookers cheered, "A doctor's here! Let's clear a path!"

The crowd parted, and a young man in a suit stepped forward.

He knelt by the old man, patting his shoulder and calling out, but there was no response.

Checking the man's pupils, breathing, and pulse, the young doctor knew that without immediate aid, there was no hope for survival.

He quickly began CPR, pressing down on the man's chest and administering rescue breaths.

The onlookers, reassured by his professional demeanor, breathed easier.

"Thank goodness the doctor arrived in time, or the old man would've been in real trouble."

"Absolutely, he's a lifesaver. And so skilled! Which hospital is he with?"

The young doctor persisted with chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth, but the unconscious man remained still.

As time ticked away and sweat beaded on his forehead, the young doctor finally stood, defeated and sighing with a heavy heart.

"I'm sorry, I've done all I can."

The crowd murmured in somber agreement.

"It's fate. The old man couldn't be saved."

"Yes, doctor, no need for apologies. You did everything possible."

Ye Yu arrived from the pharmacy, acupuncture needles in hand, to overhear that it was too late to save the old man.

Panic-stricken, he pushed through the crowd, "Step aside! Let me try—I can save him!"

The bystanders, confused but curious, gave way. Ye Yu moved to the old man's side.

The young doctor eyed Ye Yu skeptically and blocked him, "It's no use. It's been nearly five minutes. The man is gone."

Ye Yu, undeterred, brandished the acupuncture needle, "How can you be sure? Just let me try—it might work."

The young doctor scoffed at the needle in Ye Yu's hand, "I'm a doctor! I've tried everything medically possible. What can you possibly do with that needle? Ridiculous!"

The crowd that had gathered, initially clinging to a thread of hope upon hearing there might be a solution, felt their spirits sink when they laid eyes on Ye Yu. His youthful demeanor, reminiscent of a high school student, left them feeling instantly deflated.

"Kid, just give it up. The doctor here already told us, there's no saving him," one bystander said.

"Seriously, young man. You think a couple of medical books make you capable of saving him?" another chimed in.

"Poor old Tang," a third lamented. "He'd only been here a few days. Such a decent man, and now he's gone just like that."

Undeterred by the young doctor's attempts to stop him, Ye Yu crouched beside the elderly man, pulling out an acupuncture needle. "Wondering if acupuncture can make a difference? Watch and learn," he said confidently.

"You!" The young doctor's eyebrows knitted together in frustration, his advice falling on deaf ears. He was skeptical, but curious to see if Ye Yu's handful of needles could truly bring about a miracle.
