C49 I Saved Her!

Ye Yu crouched beside the elderly man, extracting acupuncture needles as he assessed the man's condition. The knowledge Ye Yu had gleaned from medical texts included life-saving techniques, lethal acupuncture methods, and the art of diagnosing diseases through observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking.

Ye Yu determined that the man had suffered a sudden myocardial infarction. The young doctor's efforts were sound in theory, and as he had mentioned, under normal circumstances, the man would not have survived given the time elapsed.

Yet, with the Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles at his disposal, Ye Yu was confident he could revive the man. The Ghost Gate was a realm of the afterlife, and these needles had the power to snatch the dead from its grasp, to breathe life back into them with commanding force.

With several needles in hand, Ye Yu focused intently on the man's acupuncture points: the Renzhong, Tiantu, Tianxing, Yinbai, among others. His hands moved with swift precision over the man's body, and in moments, over a dozen needles were securely in place.

The young doctor watching nearby furrowed his brow at Ye Yu's seemingly rough and unprofessional technique, piercing through the man's clothing into his flesh.

"So quick?"

"Through the clothes? Can that be accurate?"

"Young man, life is precious. Are you sure you can do this?"

"It doesn't look promising. What can a high school student possibly achieve? If a doctor couldn't save him, how could he?"

The crowd, having witnessed Ye Yu's rapid needling, grew skeptical. And after Ye Yu finished, the old man showed no signs of revival.

"Life extinguishes like a snuffed-out candle, young man. Remember to honor it," the young doctor lamented, turning to leave, convinced Ye Yu was just seeking attention.

Disrespecting the deceased for fame was deplorable, and the young doctor's disappointment in Ye Yu deepened.

"Respect the dead, why don't you?"

"The doctor said he's beyond saving, and you won't listen. You're ignoring his kindness!"

"Young man, remove those needles now, or I'm calling the police!"

"What's with young people these days, so desperate for fame?"

The onlookers' harsh words flew as they believed Ye Yu was merely causing a scene.

But Ye Yu paid them no mind, nor the departing young doctor. His gaze fixed on the man's chest, he bellowed with authority.

"Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles, one needle to divide Yin from Yang, gods and ghosts at the ready. Even at death's door, I will drag you back!"

With his declaration, Ye Yu's fist hammered down onto the man's chest. The impact echoed like a drumbeat, startling the crowd.

As Ye Yu lifted his fist, refraining from further strikes, a robust heartbeat thundered from within the man's chest cavity.

The once still and silent figure jolted upright, inhaling deeply.

The young doctor, mid-departure, spun around, eyes wide in disbelief, fixated on the elderly man who had miraculously returned to the land of the living.

How could this be possible?

The young doctor and the onlookers were all thinking the same thing, their eyes wide as they watched the elderly man come back to life, too astonished to utter a word.

"Has he truly come back to life?"

"Is this some kind of trick? How on earth could Old Tang be alive again?"

"Look at him! His eyes are moving, and he's breathing! He's actually come back to life!"

"This is nothing short of a miracle needle!"

"You're a miracle worker, a young miracle worker!"

The crowd around finally snapped out of their shock, turning their gaze to Ye Yu and erupting into loud cheers.

The young doctor, previously frozen in place, snapped back to reality and hurried over to the old man to examine him.

"He's really come back to life."

Murmuring in sheer disbelief, the young doctor looked at Ye Yu with eyes that saw something otherworldly.
