C53 Han Xue, Who Doesn't Drink

"Ye Yu, have you been drinking?"

Han Xue wrinkled her nose and leaned in close to Ye Yu, taking a few discerning sniffs before asking with a hint of confusion.

Ye Yu, upon hearing Han Xue's question, replied, "I haven't had a drink."

Han Xue gave a light huff, "That's impossible. My nose is incredibly sharp. I could detect even the faintest hint of alcohol."

Ye Yu retrieved the Night Glasses he had acquired and handed them to Han Xue, "Could it be the scent is coming from this?"

Han Xue accepted the Night Glasses from Ye Yu and examined them closely. She was utterly enchanted by the Night Glasses, which resembled a piece of fine art.

"It's gorgeous. To call it a wine cup doesn't do it justice—it's more like a piece of art!"

With her delicate fingers, Han Xue held the cup under her nose and wafted the air above it with her other hand.

A unique wine aroma wafted up to Han Xue's nose.

She closed her eyes, and a tempting blush crept onto her cheeks.

"This is it! Such a pure and rich aroma of wine!"

It took a while for Han Xue to open her eyes, finally snapping out of the wine's aromatic spell.

"Ye Yu, what is this exactly? How can it give off such a wine fragrance—and such an intoxicating one at that?"

Ye Yu pointed to the cup and explained to Han Xue, "This is carved from a stone called Wine Jade, and it possesses a remarkable ability."

Han Xue's curiosity was piqued, and she quickly pressed, "Ye Yu, please tell me, what can it do?"

With a slight smile, Ye Yu uncapped a bottle of mineral water, filled the Night Glasses, and let it rest for a moment. He then slid it towards Han Xue, "Smell it again."

Han Xue, puzzled by Ye Yu's gesture, dipped her head to sniff the cup.

To her astonishment, Han Xue waved her hand over the cup again.

She looked up at Ye Yu in disbelief, "Ye Yu, this is wine! And not just any wine, but fine wine! How did this happen? How did the water become wine?"

"That's the magic of the Night Glasses. It can transform any liquid inside into exquisite wine!"

Taking a deep breath, Han Xue exclaimed, "It has such an incredible ability? Ye Yu, where on earth did you find it?"

Ye Yu could sense Han Xue's concern about the mysterious origin of the Night Glasses and reassured her softly.

"Don't fret over where it came from. Just know that it's mine, acquired through fair and honest means."

Han Xue patted her chest, visibly relieved, "In that case, I'm at ease. Ye Yu, you must safeguard this treasure—it must be incredibly valuable."

"By the way, Han Xue, how come you're so knowledgeable about wine?" Ye Yu inquired, noting her keen sensitivity to the beverage.

With a playful twinkle in her eye, Han Xue grinned and said, "My dad's a wine enthusiast. Growing up around him, I naturally became quite familiar with it."

Ye Yu nodded in understanding, "I see."

His eyes sparkled with an idea. A connoisseur would surely appreciate the quality of the wine. "Han Xue, why don't you taste it and tell us how it is?"

Han Xue immediately shook her head, "No, I can't drink!"

Ye Yu wanted Han Xue to try the wine from the Night Glasses, but he quickly realized it might not be appropriate for her to drink. Apologetically, he said, "Sorry, that was my mistake. I shouldn't have suggested it."

Blushing, Han Xue quickly clarified, "Ye Yu, don't get the wrong idea. I tend to undergo a complete personality shift when I drink."

Ye Yu was taken aback. A complete personality shift? Could she possibly become wild with alcohol? It was difficult for him to picture the usually demure Han Xue transformed by wine.

"Han Xue, how about I give the Night Glasses to your dad instead?" Ye Yu suggested, looking at her.

Han Xue firmly pushed the wine glass back to Ye Yu, insisting, "That's not an option! The Night Glasses are far too valuable. Remember, you were planning to sell it to buy a larger house for your grandfather?"

Seeing Han Xue's resolve, Ye Yu abandoned the idea. He also recognized that the Night Glasses would indeed make an excellent item for auction.
