C13 Jiang Loong's Genetic Potential

He reached a point roughly two kilometers from Base City and unleashed the mutated zombies along with the Level 5, Level 7, and Level 9 male zombies.

Jiang Loong intended for the quartet to locate the horde and then round up some zombies to bring back for synthesis.

Upon receiving their orders, the four male zombies departed swiftly.

After that, Jiang Loong stood up, ready to head back to Base City.

With the mutated zombie in the lead, he anticipated no complications. Jiang Loong's plan was to first return to Base City for some rest, open a few more treasure chests to increase his strength, and then formulate his subsequent strategy.

Base City had taken a significant hit during the recent zombie siege. They had not only depleted a vast amount of ammunition, but the prolonged combat on the towering walls had resulted in numerous casualties. Rumor had it that a small number of zombies had breached the city, inflicting bites on many inhabitants. A modest cluster of zombies had formed within the city.

Nevertheless, the chaos was confined to the area close to the high walls for just a short period. Life in the city carried on as usual, seemingly unaffected by the turmoil.

The testing center was situated right in the heart of Base City.

"I've got B-class genetic potential! No wonder I could lift a rock weighing over 250 kilograms as soon as I awakened my Strong Power!" a man boasted, laughing.

"That's incredible! We're talking about a rock that's over 500 kilograms. My brother has the Strong Power too, but when he first unlocked his extraordinary talent, he could only muster a strength of 100 kilograms," other testers remarked, clearly impressed.

At that moment, Jiang Loong made his way through the onlookers to the front of the testing area.

"Hello, I'd like to have my genetic potential tested," Jiang Loong stated.

"Do you have food stamps? Only individuals with at least D-grade potential can get tested for free at our center. If your potential doesn't meet the D-grade threshold, you'll need to pay 5,000 grams worth of food coupons," explained a man clad in the test center's uniform.

Five thousand grams in food coupons was no trivial amount; in these times, many people subsisted on compressed food, and 5,000 grams could sustain them for well over ten days.

Jiang Loong, with a stoic face, replied, "I have food coupons."

"Alright, if you can't produce any food stamps later on, don't blame me for assigning you to hard labor. Remember, this rule isn't just for you; it applies to everyone. Now, step inside," the man in uniform instructed before activating the testing machine and signaling for Jiang Loong to enter.

Jiang Loong stepped into the machine, and as the door sealed shut, he could feel the pressure inside the chamber mounting steadily.

Time passed, and suddenly, the test light outside flickered on.

"It's green, Grade B!" the uniformed man murmured, his gaze shifting as he looked at Jiang Loong with newfound respect.

Grade B potential was a sign of exceptional promise, indicating a high likelihood of becoming an Evolver in the future.

"Another B grade?" The crowd pressed in once more, buzzing with excitement.

"To witness two individuals with B grade potential in one day is simply astounding!"

"Anyone with B grade potential is truly exceptional! They're destined to become Evolvers!"

"It's a shame my own genetic potential is only a D. I'll never have the chance to evolve," lamented someone from the crowd.

Even the man who had previously awakened the Strong Power talent glanced over with interest.

But in a dramatic turn, the indicator light shifted from green to a startling red.

The uniformed man's face paled. "Red? His potential is Grade A!"

Ke'er had been a Grade A; her talents had emerged at ten, she became an Evolver by fifteen, and she was even on the cusp of joining the Heaven Seeking Palace.

The crowd erupted into a buzz of shock and awe.

Yet, the surprises weren't over. Shortly thereafter, the indicator light morphed once more.

The man in uniform staggered back, his mouth agape in sheer disbelief.

"This can't be! It's purple! Purple signifies Level S!"

The murmurs of the crowd swelled into a roar.

In a Base City of over a hundred thousand souls, the presence of someone with Level S potential was a rarity.

The test concluded, and the door swung open. Jiang Loong emerged, contemplating his results.

"Level S? It seems my investment in gene points has truly paid off."

He came here for testing to find out the impact of the gene points he'd acquired from unlocking a treasure chest. The results indicated that the gene points had a considerable influence on him.

Jiang Loong stepped out and immediately became the focus of everyone's attention.

He turned to the uniformed man, who was staring in disbelief, and inquired, "Do I still need to hand over food stamps?"

The man in uniform hastily shook his head, grinning as he reassured, "No, that won't be necessary."

"Then I guess I'm free to go."

Just as Jiang Loong was about to leave, the man called out, "Wait!"

Jiang Loong raised an eyebrow. "Is there something else?"

"It's a waste of your exceptional genetic potential to remain in the unremarkable Dongning Base City. I'm stationed here, but I also scout for the Heaven Seeking Palace, looking for students with extraordinary talent. With your potential, you're a shoo-in for the Heaven Seeking Palace. It's a top-tier power within the Martial Cultivator Alliance. Does that interest you?"

The man's smile was tinged with eagerness to please.

"Heaven Seeking Palace?"

Jiang Loong paused, recognition dawning. It was the very organization Ke'er had nearly joined.

Seeing Jiang Loong's surprise, the man mistook it for interest and pressed on, "The Heaven Seeking Palace ranks within the top ten of the Martial Cultivator Alliance. They're a formidable force."

Jiang Loong shook his head. "I'm not interested," he declared and walked away.

"Wait, young man!"

The man in uniform was tempted to chase after Jiang Loong and try to convince him once more, but he held back, only able to watch as Jiang Loong disappeared into the distance.

Before long, word spread throughout Dongning Base City that a Level S prodigy had undergone a gene potential test at the Base City Test Center.

Having just traded food for a temporary place to stay, Jiang Loong was about to enjoy a shower and then bathe Tongtong when the doorbell suddenly rang.
