C10 The Response

"It is him!" exclaims Tomi as she looks up the news article of the accident.

"That's the guy I pulled out from the accident. The accident no one believes I pulled him out."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. It's him. Look at the photos. Look at the names. They are the same guy."

Tomi just looks at her phone in shock, "and he wants to go out on a date with you?"

"Looks like it. I don't know about this."

"Just email him."

"Email?"

"Or send him a text, just contact him."

Again, the anxiety from before was shaking Leila, "but this is too sudden. Maybe I should just reject first and then calm down."

"Leila, are you going to go back to being a child."

"I'm not a little kid, I'm just trying to be safe. I mean, I don't know him."

"That's the point of dating apps, to get to know them. That's why you contact them first and see who they are."

Leila was so uncomfortable with the situation, but the fact that the first man to ask her out was the same man she rescued was intriguing. She really was curious about him as she didn't have a chance to meet him again. Besides, she really wanted to be treated like an adult, and this was what adults did, right?

"Alright, I'll contact him."

Meanwhile, Dexter was waiting anxiously for Sheona. He wondered if she was even going to show up after what happened yesterday. He still felt so guilty about it that he didn't know what would happen now. He was expecting an email or phone call from her along with a job resignation. It would be a tragedy but he would understand why it would lead to this.

As he was thinking all this, the doors open. It was her, Sheona, "Good morning, sir."

"Sheona," said Dexter as he sat up straight on his chair.

"Sir, are you doing well? Does your leg hurt?"

"No, it's fine."

"Well, that's good. Anyways, I got those phone numbers you asked for. Took me a bit of work but I found them for you," she pulls out a sheet of paper from her bag and hands it to him.

"Oh... thanks," Dexter uttered.

"Is there anything else I can do for you?"

"No, this will do."

"In that case, if you will excuse me, sir." and she steps out.

Dexter was flabbergasted at how Sheona just came in and casually went about her business. What about the night before? Did she still not have feelings for him? Was it just a joke? He was so confused at the moment, but he figured he better not press her for anything. She was sensitive to this topic and was probably trying to hide it. Maybe she'll open up and be honest with him. Either case, it was best if he left her be.

He decides to leave his troubles for now and get back to work. But before he did that, he just wanted to check his personal email and see if maybe, just maybe, he got a response from the dating app.

He was anxious about this because there was no guarantee that she could actually be the one. But that strong desire in him for her to be that pretty face was enveloping his entire body and soul. He so wanted her to be real. Only she could do. If she was not real, then he would forever be alone and that would be eternal torture.

And as he was thinking about all this, he opens his email, and there it was. An email from the dating app. He reads the preview line: "I saw your request and I am interested..."`!
