C14 Complicated Matters

As much as he felt bad about Sheona's feelings, he was also excited about his date with the girl that called herself Amber. What a wonderful name for such a wonderful girl. However, what concerned him was that he's never been on a date before. He didn't know what the first thing to do. But he was so scared of her being turned off by this. He was the CEO of a company, he would bet that she expected him to act a certain way. He did have a broken leg, so maybe he could use that as an excuse of why he was acting strange, but still, what was he suppose to do? Despite this, he was still so happy that he could not help but smile.

Leila, on the other hand, was still skeptical about this. She truly wanted to be treated like an adult, but was this really the right way? But it was too late. Tomi already forced this to happen as they were now shopping for some clothes.

"Do you really know what you are doing?" Leila asked.

"Ah," responded Tomi, "you're still fighting this?"

"Well, no. I meant about the clothes. Are you sure you know what to pick?"

"Absolutely. Who do you think you're talking to?"

"Yeah, I know. You want to be a fashion designer."

"I might as well be. My mom is already making arrangements to send me to a college course that specializes in fashion. My dad is also going to send me to an apprenticeship in the fashion industry. Everything is really set up. I just need to graduate high school, which is such a bore. I don't see why I need to learn all that useless stuff when I am already ready for the fashion world."

"Wow, Tomi. Your parents are so supportive. My mom divorced my dad and she wants me to get into banking, which is so boring. Ugh, she won't leave me alone for even a second if she thinks I'm not studying to be an accountant."

"Well, once you turn 18, you don't have to do what she tells you anymore."

"I have to. She's paying my college."

"Oh, that's right. I'm used to hearing the dad paying for college. I'm surprised your mom is the one paying for it. But why can't your dad pay for it? He sounds like the nicer of the two."

"My dad is going through some problems at his job, and the divorce didn't help either. I'm just stuck with that woman for the next 2 years, I can't believe it."

"Well, why don't you marry a rich guy."

"What?"

"If you marry a rich guy, you wouldn't have to deal with your mom anymore. In fact, aren't you going out with a CEO? Ah, it's perfect."

"Shut up, Tomi." Leila's face turns red while Tomi giggles, "this isn't funny. Besides, I only plan to go on a date with him once."

"Only once?"

"It's not going to work, Tomi. He's going to see right through me. He's going to find out I'm a high schooler right away. He'll probably get mad and the best-case scenario is that he'll just be nice and reject me."

"What makes you think that?"

"Because he's..." Leila puts her hand behind her neck, "... he's more mature, far more mature than I will ever be. I'm just going to end up being a dumb kid in his eyes."

"But you showed your picture. If he was like that, he wouldn't have accepted your offer. I think you are just worrying too much," Tomi hands Leila some clothes, "try these on and we'll see what works."

Leila looks at the clothes, some really nice looking clothes but was definitely clothes she would never buy, let alone wear. Maybe these were the clothes Tomi picked to make her look mature. Leila sighs and says, "I'm not sure about this."
