C17 Faithful Confrontation
He was in shock and disbelief. There she was, just as vivid as he remembered her. He could not believe his eyes. Even with the sunglasses on, it was no doubt her. The one who saved him from that car wreck, the one whose face had imprinted on his memory, the woman from the fountain of youth. And she was so youthful too. He could not believe she was 21 years old; she could really pass off as a High School student. She was just too beautiful for words. She was perfect, and he was dating her? Was this reality or a dream he would wake up from any moment?
He takes his crutches and approaches her, "You must be Amber," he says with confidence. This was fake as he was so nervous. As nervous as... her, apparently. He notices that she was taken aback a bit and intimidated like she was being apprehended in some way. She had her upper arms raised to her shoulders in a nervous style.
She shakes her head and replies, "uh, yes, yes I am." She was so thankful for the sunglasses now as she didn't want him seeing her face like this. If she was anxious before, her nerves were now going crazy. It was actually happening, she was going out on a date with a man 10 years older than her. Was this okay? Was she going to be able to handle it? Maybe she should just drop this whole thing! "You must be... uh... uhh... oh no, I forgot your name."
He gave a perplexed look, but he answered, "My name is Dexter. You probably heard of me."
Immediately this got her attention as she stiffened, "what do you mean?"
"Well, I am in the media. You really don't know who I am?"
"Uhh... maybe. I don't watch the news a lot," she laughs nervously.
She looks at him from top to bottom, trying to inspect him, but the cast on his leg was where her attention was mostly at. Yes, it was him, the one she rescued. The news said that he suffered an injured leg but she can barely remember how badly his leg was. She could not believe it was really him in front of her, but she couldn't get a good look with her sunglasses on. This was actually a benefit for her as she didn't know what would happen if she looked at him directly.
"My leg," he said, "I was in a car accident recently. I hope it isn't a bother."
"Oh, I'm so sorry," she apologized purposefully, "I didn't mean to stare."
"It's okay. Doctor said it wasn't too bad and I should heal by the next two weeks."
"Well, I'm glad you are okay."
"Do you know about the accident a week ago? About a man who was involved in a car accident?"
Leila knew what he was referring to and was scared to answer. Could she reveal herself, the one who rescued him? Would that somehow reveal her identity? She decided against it and replied, "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that."
"I see," he replies.
"Were you involved in that accident?"
"Yes, actually. In fact, I was the one who the news is talking about. You can look it up and see for yourself. You might find out something about me."
"Oh, I guess I will."
"You really don't know who I am?"
"No, sorry. I only know you from your profile. You own a business right."
He laughs a bit. Not only did she look like a teenager, she kind of acted like one. He felt like tonight was going to be a good night.
