That night, Lin Qianqian stayed up all night cramming, not getting a wink of sleep. By six in the morning, she had freshened up and headed to her closet to pull out her summer school uniform, which had been hanging there untouched for quite some time.

The uniform consisted of a deep blue knee-length skirt, a crisp white button-up short-sleeve cardigan, and a blue-and-white striped school tie. She also wore nude stockings and modesty shorts, and styled her hair into a cute bun appropriate for her age. Though a bit messy, it looked much more presentable.

Afterward, she searched the shoe rack by the door and finally found a pair of deep blue flats among a pile of high heels. At six-thirty, Lin Qianqian slung her backpack over her shoulder and headed downstairs to the dining room, only to be surprised by a tall figure already seated at the table.

She paused for a moment. Lu Yuchen? What was he doing here? In her previous life, he had likely been so upset with her that he moved to live at the office that very night. Later, he only returned home because Mr. Lu used his health as leverage. Since she hadn't tried to provoke him last night, had the course of events changed?

Yuchen's tall frame was dressed in simple black dress pants and a crisp white long-sleeve shirt, the collar casually open. It gave him a relaxed, slightly lazy air, with a hint of his chest showing. His handsome face appeared a bit indifferent, exuding a cool elegance.

Lin Qianqian felt as if she had been struck by lightning. She had hoped that, like before, Yuchen would stay at the office for a couple of weeks, giving her time to suppress her budding feelings in his absence. But now...

"Good morning, ma'am. You're up early today," Mrs. Liu said as she saw Qianqian approaching. She quickly went to prepare breakfast for her. "Come sit down and eat. You shouldn't be late today."

Lin Qianqian's face turned a shade of red. Ever since she started slacking off, being late, leaving early, and skipping classes had become routine for her. If it weren't for Mr. Lu, the retired general, backing her up, the school would have expelled her long ago.

She placed her backpack on the chair beside her and sat across from Lu Yuchen, quietly eating her breakfast. Later, Mrs. Liu brought over two glasses of milk, placing them close together. As Qianqian reached for her glass, Yuchen did the same, and their hands brushed against each other for a brief moment...

Qianqian felt like she'd been shocked, quickly pulling her hand back with such force that she knocked over the glass of milk, spilling it all over the table.

“Sorry, sorry... I'm so sorry...” Her heart raced, and she was flustered.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’ll take care of it...” Mrs. Liu hurried over to clean up.

Qianqian didn’t dare look up, feeling as if Yuchen's gaze was fixed on her. Her ears burned red, and with a quick glance, she grabbed her backpack. “I’m off to class now.”

Without looking back, she dashed out of the dining room.

Qianqian had a car service to take her to school, but when she skipped class, she often left the driver waiting. Once in the car, she gradually calmed down, feeling quite annoyed with herself.
