C9 What Did Lu Yuchen Want to Talk to Her About?
In the afternoon, seniors at Dicheng High School still had four classes, with a one-hour lunch break. Lin Qianqian stayed focused during her afternoon lessons, but after dinner, she returned to her room, took a shower, and started yawning. Just as she was about to take a nap, someone knocked on her door.
She opened it to find Steward Ann standing there.
"Mr. Ann, is there something you need?"
Steward Ann respectfully replied, "Miss Qianqian, Mr. Yuchen is waiting for you in the study. He has something to discuss with you."
Lin Qianqian was taken aback. Lu Yuchen actually wanted to talk to her? This had never happened before!
"Okay, I understand. You can go ahead with your tasks. I'll change and head to the study."
Closing the door, Lin Qianqian went to the dressing room to change, feeling a bit anxious. What could Lu Yuchen want to discuss with her?
Standing outside the study, her heart was pounding like a drum, feeling as if it might leap out of her chest. In the past, the thought of seeing him filled her with joy, but now it made her nervous.
Knock, knock...
Knowing she couldn't avoid it, she took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and knocked on the study door.
"Come in." His rich, magnetic voice was as pleasing as ever, like pearls rolling over a cello string.
She pushed the door open and walked into the study.
The spacious room was decorated in a simple gray and white palette, exuding understated luxury. At the white desk, the man sat in a luxurious leather swivel chair. The lighting accentuated his strong, handsome features. His eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her. "Sit."
Lin Qianqian obediently sat on the sofa, nervously biting her lip and lowering her gaze slightly. "Did you need to talk to me about something?"
He stared intently at the well-behaved girl sitting there, his deep eyes darkening a bit.
Every time she used to see him, her smile was as bright as the sun. But this time, when he returned from his business trip, all he saw was her cautious demeanor, as if she didn't dare to look him in the eye.
What had changed her? Or was this some new trick to get his attention?
"Tomorrow afternoon, I'll take you to visit Grandpa at the hospital," he said, his voice indifferent and almost mechanical, issuing a command. "I don't want you to scare him like last time. Your appearance, your clothes—everything should be as fresh and natural as possible."
Lin Qianqian looked up, her eyes misty, her long lashes glistening with a thin layer of moisture.
In her past life, Grandpa had been angered to death by her. That had been an insurmountable barrier between her and Lu Yuchen. In this life, she no longer hoped to win Lu Yuchen's heart, but she was grateful for the chance to be reborn before all the tragedies occurred.
"Okay," she replied softly, her voice gentle and sweet. "I'll get my hair done tomorrow morning. I promise I won't upset Grandpa again, so don't worry."
The study fell into silence.
Lin Qianqian glanced up to see him already engrossed in his computer.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go to bed now," she said quickly, standing up and heading for the door.
"Grandpa always hoped we could get along well. Do your best tomorrow, and if necessary, show a little affection."
Bang!
Startled, Lin Qianqian stumbled, bumping into the doorframe. Her vision blurred for a moment, but Lu Yuchen's words echoed in her mind.
Show affection??
