C5 Chapter Five

I ran out of the house like a mad woman but stopped when I entered the forest, the scent of earth and dampness hung in the air mingling with the invigorating aroma of pine and the delicate fragrance of wildflower, It was as if the forest itself exhaled life, feeling my senses with its rich tapestry of scents and sounds. I sat down on the ground and cried my eyes out till my tears stopped pouring then I stood up and started running again.

I ventured into its verdant embrace and a symphony of rustling leaves and hooting birds filled the air as I ran through the thick woods, I thought I had cried out my eyes with tears but my vision became blurred by tears again that threatened to burst out. The towering giants of the forest, their trunks adorned with ancient moss, reaching toward heaven and their leafy crowns formed a lush canopy over my head

I had run out of the house barefooted in anger and without noticing, I gnashed my left foot on a rock, and due to the immediate pain I felt, I lost my balance and stepped on a thorn. I looked down, only to see that thorns were scattered around the forest ground.

"Ahh!! How could they do this to me!" I shouted out and rugged hard on my hair in frustration and pain. The pain was too unbearable for me to bear that I asked myself what I had done wrong to deserve this and allowed the frustration that I had been holding in to burst forth

I sat on a nearby stone that was safe and free from thorns then I placed my injured foot on my right knee to see blood seeping out of my new wound, tinting the soil and green leaves

"Ouch…," I moaned in pain while removing the thorn that I had stepped on then I tore a long piece from my clothes. I tore the piece of clothing into two pieces then I used one of the cloth to clean my wound to prevent it from any infection and used the other piece to wrap up the wound, as soon as I was done taking care of my injured foot, I stood up carefully and started limping my way slowly to the end of the forest, taking little rest to regain my strength whenever I was a bit tired and to also catch my breath

I struggled to run out into the open field when I sighted my parent's house from a distance. The house was situated at the end of the pack grounds for reasons best known to them and it was also one of the biggest. The one-story building was brown with a modern structure.

The house was built by hand with no help from anyone besides some family and friends, the pack called the house where I had lived "The farm" because our house sits on around 450 acres of land. The large space was used for rearing farm animals and cows grazed in it, almost all the time to bailey hay during summer month

On getting to the door, I pushed the door forcefully without caring to knock, I was already a mess but immediately I stepped into the house, a blurry figure towered over me, and before I could say a word, I was greeted with a heavy punch to my face that connected to my lips, It seemed as if they have been expecting me

"Mum!!" I shouted in shock as my vision became clear, I looked at my mum whose hand was a bit stained with my blood

"Shut up Glenn!" My mum shouted in a strained voice glaring at me with her eyes with shame and disappointment written all over her face

"What have we done to deserve this?" My dad asked me, his eyes gleaming red as his alpha wolf struggled to come out and shred me into pieces which made me shudder in fear

My father, Alpha Hyde, was the current Alpha of the Wind Pack and I would be his successor since I was the only child he had

"I don't under.." I was slapped hard across the face by my father before I could even complete what I wanted to say

"You don't understand what?" My mum asked with anger brimming in her teary red eyes, it seemed she had been crying for a while because there were dried tears on her cheek

My mum was my weakness, I looked up to push the tears that were threatening to fall then It all started to make sense when I sighted Gabriel who had a smile on his devilishly handsome face standing at the end of the stairs, obviously enjoying the show

The love that I had for him was all gone and it was replaced with nothing but hatred and a hunger for revenge even though a silly part of me still loved him

"You have brought nothing but shame to this family and you had the gut to sleep around with whoever you deemed fit to, you, wretched slut!" she shouted and slapped me on my right cheek

Her eyes welled up with tears that she refused to pour out then she dragged the top of my shirt, dragging me in every direction in the spacious living room and I was too weak to resist her. So I left her to satiate her anger and I was also too weak to cry out, but still, tears flowed freely like a river out of my tears hole

After my mum had released her strong grip on me, I watched my dad walk up to me and I closed my eyes, prepared for the impact of his large hand on my poor face but nothing came forth then I opened my eyes to see Gabriel holding my father's hand

"I think the beatings are enough even though she deeply broke my heart by cheating on me, I can't bear to see her suffer like this besides she's still my mate and I love her so much," Gabriel said in a sweet voice holding my father's hand.

"My son, that woman is not worthy of your love," My father said

"What was that supposed to mean?" I murmured to myself as looked at my father in shock

"She's also carrying a baby in her womb, I wouldn't want anything to happen to it," he said, I guessed he had rehearsed everything because he was acting like a pro.

"But you never informed us about this," my mum said and when I looked at her, I saw a hint of guilt on her face.

Gabriel looked down with a sullen face as he left my father's hands, He walked towards me and wrapped me in his embrace and I fought the urge to draw him, I tried to push him away but my weak hands gave in

"I found out not quite long ago, she never told me and perhaps the child is not even mine," he answered with an innocent look on his face as he released me from his arms and my weak legs gave up making me land on the floor, I resisted the urge to slap that masked face off his face.

Suddenly, I found the courage to speak up. "Do you think I would stoop so low to cheat on the man I earnestly loved my whole life?" I slowly asked, slowly rising from the clean tiled floor

"You would surely regret what you've all done to me," I said bitterly, looking at all three of them in hatred and disappointment which made my father more furious at me.

He lunged at me unexpectedly but I weakly dodged with the little strength I had left against his sharp claw which had ended up slashing my arm a little and before he could try again, my mother stopped him.

"We reject you as the successor Alpha of the Wind's pack and disowned you as our daughter, from now on, you shall never step foot in this territory until you are called back," My parents both said in unison as if they had both planned it meanwhile Gabriel had already left the place unnoticed

To say, I was shocked would have been an understatement, the emotions surging through me were so strong. The tears that had been flowing suddenly stopped and I tried as much as I could to let them flow but nothing came out, everything was happening so fast.

I looked at the house I had spent my childhood life in and the happy moments we once had, flashed before my eyes, I looked at the people whom I once called my parents for the last time, memorizing the structure of their faces before walking out of the house with no destination in mind.

"She doesn't deserve to be our daughter and alpha, we would appoint someone suitable and reliable for the post," That was the last thing I heard Alpha Hyde say to his wife.

I walked deep into the forest, devastated, feeling nothing but betrayal and disappointment. I walked for the first time in my life without knowing my destination. I fell to the cold ground and succumbed to the sleep that called on me
