C12 A Little Business Trip

He cocked his head to the side and narrowed his eyes. “What I’m thinking right now is that you definitely look ugly.”

He followed it up with a derisive smirk.

“You—!” Yanxi’s misery was briefly forgotten as she took offense at his condescending manner.

This man was being too rude. Did he honestly think they had grown close enough to be bantering like this?

In the end, she rolled her eyes and looked out the window, trying to calm her temper. Then she realized the most important thing at present— “Where are we going?”

“A little business trip I need to take care of,” Tang Zhengxun answered nonchalantly.

“And you’re bringing me along to take care of your own business?” she asked with obvious suspicion.

“No, you’ll wait for me in the car.”

“Oh,” Yanxi nodded absentmindedly, but the feeling of unease that had been slowly creeping up on her finally demanded to be acknowledged.

She cleared her throat. “On second thought, Mr. Tang, I think it would be better if you drop me right here.”

He cast a sideways glance at her before reaching out and touching her face. His big, hot palm cradled her swollen cheek, rubbing his fingers gently across her skin.

“Ouch… Ouch, hey! That hurts!” Tears sprung up in her eyes. “What do you think you’re doing, Tang Zhengxun?”

She tried to pull away from him, but his other hand quickly grabbed her by the nape and held her still.

“So you’re in pain, huh?” He asked as he gazed deep into her eyes.

“What are you planning to do?” she breathed.

She could never understand this man’s intentions, nor had she ever been able to guess his moves. It had been this way since the first moment she had laid eyes on him.

“Once you discover the identity of the woman Bai Tiancheng is sleeping with, I’m afraid you will only feel pain much worse than this…” he said mysteriously, his gaze turning pensive.

Yanxi’s eyes widened in astonishment. "You know Tiancheng? And you know his mistress, too?"

“It’s just a coincidence.” He flashed her a humorless smile. “I just happen to be very familiar with those two.”

She paled at his words. “Then, did you tell Tiancheng about what happened between us?”

The corners of his lips curved further upwards, and there seemed to be a genuine feeling in his expression this time.

“What makes you think Bai Tiancheng has any right to know about any of my business?” he asked in a mocking tone.

“You… Seriously!” She hated his arrogant streak.

Nevertheless, Yanxi had to admit that she had his pride to thank for keeping her husband in the dark about that fateful night.

The thought made her curse inwardly.

Tiancheng’s infidelity had broken and pushed her to rock bottom, yet hadn’t she been doing the same thing since her trip to Japan?

Sure, she had been drunk during that night, but that was no excuse!

Then something else clicked inside her head.

She turned to Tang Zhengxun and looked him in the eye, her voice charged with a nervous, expectant energy. “So you know who that woman is?”

“You seem really interested in her.” His thumb swept across her cheek again, the look in his face turning dark and seductive.

“Too bad, I hate it when my woman shows too much interest in other men’s affairs.”

Yanxi shuddered under his touch. Panic set in, and she made a last minute attempt to push his hand away.

“I am not your woman! I have a husband, and I am not inclined to have any other man besides him.”

“Is that really important though? You’ll be back in my bed sooner or later anyway, won’t you?”

She swallowed a lump in her throat.

This man clearly had the power to drive women crazy with nothing more than his words. How much damage would he wreak with his actions?

With his body…

But Yanxi was not one of those women! She blinked and lifted her chin in defiance.

He raised an eyebrow, amused at her weak show of bravado, but didn’t say anything else. He certainly looked self-assured, like he knew for a fact that everything was going the way he wanted.

The car stopped in front of an abandoned factory in some remote area of the city.

“We’re here, Young Master Tang,” the chauffeur announced in a deep voice.

“You guys go ahead and wait for me outside,” Tang Zhengxun waved at the man.

“Yes, sir.”

A few seconds later, Yanxi and Tang Zhengxun were alone in the car. The heavily tinted windows were all rolled shut.

She eyed her companion warily. “What are you planning to do now?” she demanded.

“I’m going to ravish you, and then I’m going to kill you,” Tang Zhengxun answered in a playful tone.

Yanxi went cold, the color draining even from her injured cheek. Her eyes darted around the car as she leaned away from him.

“You…” she gasped. “Don’t be reckless! You’re going to jail for murder!”

He only smiled, which evolved into a low chuckle, then a full belly laugh.

Even so, he kept his attention on assembling a small, sophisticated-looking pistol between his hands.

“Are you saying that I should just enjoy your body, then?” he asked lightly as he loaded the gun.

Then he turned to her, his smile still in place.

Yanxi’s eyes were fixed on the weapon, her face twisted in horror. All common sense seemed to have fled her mind in that instant.

She kept thinking how she had seen many guns before, but those had only been props on set.

The one Tang Zhengxun was holding, however…
