C8 None of Your Business

Tang Zhengxun chuckled heartily as his slender fingers drifted over to her flushed face. He held her by the chin and spoke in a low voice.

“Miss Qin, I’ll have you know that there are countless women in the world who hope to spend the night with me.

But no one has ever dared to even try toying with me, probably because they all know that they can never afford the consequences. You are certainly proving to be a lot of my firsts.”

The subtle warning in his tone made Yanxi flinch.

Her face, which had been burning fiery red only seconds ago, was now drained of color.

Her instincts were screaming for her to flee the scene, and she found herself taking a step back.

Thankfully, the music stopped at that very moment.

Yanxi gaped at the devil in front of her, who only flashed her a knowing smile.

Then, without warning, he took a step forward to close in what little distance she had created, and planted a light kiss on her parted lips.

Loud gasps surrounded them almost instantly as the crowd gawked.

Tang Zhengxun pulled away and looked deep into her eyes.

“Qin Yanxi, it may take a while before you become mine, but I expect you to guard your chastity in the meantime.

I will have you in my bed one day, and you will address me as your master.”

He turned on his heel before she could even muster a response.

And just like that, Tang Zhengxun sauntered nonchalantly out of the hall, leaving Yanxi staring at his departing back in a daze.

Xiaolu immediately pounced on her. “Baby, you were awesome! I knew you wouldn’t let me down!

See, what did I tell you? Brightest star indeed, you even managed to snag the Young Master of the Tang Sect.

The entertainment industry will be a piece of cake compared to this!”

But Yanxi still hadn’t recovered from her interaction with said man.

All they had done was dance and talk a little, but it somehow felt like her soul had been sucked out of her body.

In fact, she had yet to move because she had lost the strength in her legs.

“Xiaolu,” she finally managed after a couple of beats. “I’m a little tired…”

Yanxi made a move to leave, and Xiaolu fortunately didn’t stop her.

A mild panic was still thundering inside her chest as they left the venue. A faint electric buzz was playing at her lips, too.

Briefly, Yanxi thought she could still taste Tang Zhengxun’s mouth on her tongue.

Since that night, his face would appear in her mind at odd hours of the day, always unbidden, and oftentimes unwelcome.

She would get goosebumps each time, and a slight shiver would run down her spine.

She eventually came to the conclusion that this Japan trip was nothing more than a nightmare that had to be wiped out from her memory.

Little had she expected that an even greater nightmare was waiting for her when she returned to China.

Yanxi lugged her suitcase to the door of their house and keyed in the passcode.

“Code Error,” it said.

She tried again. And again. And again.

She tried it over a dozen times, but the machine prompt remained the same: “Code Error.”

She huffed. What was happening? Had Bai Tiancheng changed the passcode?

The possibility both hurt and angered her. She quickly dialed her husband’s number.

As usual, the call was transferred to his secretary’s line.

“Where is he?” Yanxi asked bluntly, her tone cold.

“I’m sorry, Miss Qin. Director Bai is currently busy and unable to speak with you.”

Yanxi scoffed to herself. ‘The gall! Even his mere secretary is putting on airs with me!’

“Give him the phone!” she shouted.

On the other end, Secretary Li had to pause, shocked by her sudden outburst.

The Young Mistress had always been meek and timid, no matter how much she suffered. This was the first time he had ever seen—or heard—her get angry.

”Please wait for a moment.”

The secretary knocked on Bai Tiancheng’s office and entered to find his boss going through several documents.

“Director Bai, excuse me. Miss Qin needs to speak with you.”

The secretary’s words made Tiancheng raise his head sharply and frown.

“Can’t you even handle such a trifling matter?” he bit out in annoyance. “What’s the use in having you around?”

“No, it’s…” Secretary Li paled and cleared his throat. “I apologize, Director Bai. Please do not fire me.”

Tiancheng exhaled impatiently and grabbed the phone from the other man. “You may leave now.”

"Yes, sir!" Secretary Li was visibly relieved as he quickly let himself out.

“Why are you looking for me, what you want?” Tiancheng asked over the phone, his voice laced with displeasure.

Yanxi had to take a deep breath in order to suppress the fury that was rapidly building up inside her. “Did you change the passcode?” was all she said.

“That’s none of your business.”

She knew it! He had changed the damn code to their house.

And she somehow knew he would answer her this way, too.

Yanxi’s grip on her phone tightened, her anger bubbling closer and closer to the surface.

So this was how Bai Tiancheng was going to play? Forcing her out when he knew she had nowhere else to go…

“Tell me what the passcode is,” she said slowly through gritted teeth.
