"you know I can see you right?" Issac said from the other side of the tree.

'shit' I thought to myself as I closed my eyes tight for a second as if that was going to take him away.

"hi" I said as I came out from behind the tree. "how have you been. I did not know you were around, were you not meant to be on some trip?" how is the weather going for you"

oh goddess.. someone please shut me up.

"and the rains, you know they just keep flowing you know-"

"Ariel" he said cutting me off from my rant which I was kind of grateful for.

"yes?" I said trying desperately to look anywhere but him.

"it's good to see you" his voice sounded I don't know, sad?, tired? I really could not pin point it but I was not ready to find out.

"I came back yesterday. I would have followed your brother but I have some business to attend to" he said looking at the side of he house where the den was.

"congratulations. on your wedding" he said but for some reason, he did not seem too happy about it.

"thanks" I said and made my way to the den. I kind of felt bad for him. I knew what it was like to be that age and not yet found your mate. I knew how much the elder tormented him daily because he was yet to find his mate. I kind of felt bad for him.

I made my way to the den and then I saw him. sitting there in all of his glory was no those than Caspian Marshal.

For some reason, he looked better than the last time I saw him and believe me, the last time I saw him, he was drool worthy.

"Caspian, hi" I said trying not to sound as flustered as I felt.

"hello" he said giving me that guy twisting smile that I was used to.

"I thought you would be on your way to the southern water by now"

"pack issues so Damien said I should stay back." he said his eyes fixed on me, it was almost choking.

"oh" was all I said under his intense stare.

"do you love him?" he asked after what felt like an hour under his gaze.

"what?" I looked at him totally confused.

"your husband, do you love him that much?" he said again repeating himself.

"of course I do, I mean I would not be marrying him if I did not right?" i answered sarcastically rolling my eyes.

"and your mate?" he asked raising his brows in all confidence.

"what do you mean mean by my-" I was cut off from completing my words as the door swung open and Issac and Damien came in.

Damien was sexy. like godlike sexy. he looked like he walked straight out of a magazine. "hello" he said and stretched his hands towards me.

although his voice was not as rich as Caspian or was it as velvety as his but it still made my mouth water.

"hi" i said and gave out a breathy greeting.

"how are-" he started but was cut off by a growl. I honestly thought it was from Issac but no. it was from Caspian.

"can we get started?" he said, not bothering to look at anyone.

"sure" Issac said and got seated. "this is Ariel, the acting beta in command." he said pointing to me.

"we would like to expand our lands" Issac said after introducing me.

"so?, how does it affect us?" Damien said as he looked straight at Issac.

"we would give you back up we noticed that recently you have been receiving threats from the western tribe." he said sounding so confident he knew what he was saying, like he knew that he was going to get help from them.

"I am sorry but I think we would have to reject your offer" I think was Caspian that spoke. and from the way he said it, I don't think Damien also expected it because he also looked shocked but he decided to not say anything.

"excuse me?" Issac looked irritated. it might have been the fact that someone higher in ranking just told him no. Isaac's wolf has always been known to be short tempered.

"I said we would not be taking you up on the offer." he said looking Isaac straight in the eyes.

"I would like to hear such from your alpha you mutt" Isaac be or rather his wolf said.

one second Caspian was calm, a d the next his eyes flashed gold. it was scary.

"what did you call me?"

"boys!, let's just calm down. we can settle this matter without arguments" I said praying to the goddess that this did not escalate because I did not know what I would do if it did.

I could barely shift and I was not about to show the other pack that I could not shift.

my words seemed to calm Caspian a bit but it did nothing to tame Isaac's temper.

it seemed to aggravate it.

"shut up" he said to me causing me to shut up immediately.

"what did you just say?" Caspian said

"it's okay, he was talking to " before I could get the chance to complete my sentence, he stood up ready to give the first hit.

"stop" Damien finally said but Isaac's wolf was beyond pissed he took Caspian's stance as a threat and then also took hit position.

"are you not going to do anything?" I said looking at Damien who looked unbothered, like he was actually waiting for a fight to break out.

seeing that it was not going to be of any use to ask for Damien's help to stop it. I looked to Issac.

"Issac?, there other ways to settle these, you know that right?" I said but he looked like he was already gone deep in and his wolf was the one that took over.

"stand down" was all he said using his alpha command on me.

all I could think was, we were royally fucked.
