C1 Fight against the beasts
ALISON "Are you kidding me?", I mutter, my expression split half in amazement, half in horror, as I try to regain my balance. After evading another bite from one of these huge wolf-like monsters to take a big bite out of my side. I dart back to the left, after pretending I was going to the right, and I can't help but gasp as I do so. When I left my dorm room with the intention of fighting for my life on a dark, deserted street it hadn't been on my to-do list. What a lovely weekend! Still, to call this a fight would be generous by any standards. Wielding only a steel pipe, all I'm focused on is trying to escape and not get eaten. Despite my five-foot-four-inch frame, I had always been stronger and faster than everyone I knew, including amateur athletes, but none of that makes any difference now. With corded limbs, taut muscles, and large drooling jaws full of sharp protruding teeth, these creatures were much stronger and faster than I was. They are clearly bloodthirsty and, unfortunately, also very well equipped to get it. My incredible reaction time is the only thing that has kept me from being gutted so far, but my muscles burn painfully from the effort. The way I see it, being beaten is much better than dying, so I press on. "Come on, you nasty little beast, " I say, pushing my hair aside and readjusting my grip on my makeshift weapon. One thing is obvious. I'm getting tired. I know it, and whatever these creatures are, they know it too. The limp in my stride since one of them had sunk its teeth into my calf at mind-boggling speed wasn't helping. I know I'd be dead by now instead of just nursing my bruises , if they weren't sadistically toying with me and that pisses me off even more. sick bastards! Crouching down, both to keep from falling and to lower my center of gravity and increase my dexterity, I keep my eyes fixed on the beast right in front of me, while watching for any movement from the others. I can tell something has changed by the way the hairs on the hair of the beast in front of me bristle and its gaze begins to move quickly around me. A growl to my left is abruptly cut off and suddenly the agonized cries of the creatures fill the air. A blur I see out of the corner of my eye catches my eye as it passes from one creature to the next, leaving them still and motionless. Before I can get to my feet, all four are dead as doornails. More blood, black as tar in the moonlight, splatters the granite below as a much larger beast removes their heads, decapitating them cleanly with a sword. I know I normally would be, but right now, I'm not horrified by the blood I see. Instead, I'm strangely elated, and it's certainly not just because I've been saved from certain death. That's a big part of it, but the sight of my savior does the rest. He looks like a giant wolf standing on two legs and with a ruthless face, he may have saved me from the other four who wanted to devour me, but I really don't know what his intentions are, eat me, bite me? I don't know why I am annihilating those beasts. He glares at me with his eyes and throws me a strong attack that makes me feel a strong pain. I wake up swallowing my scream before it can escape from my throat. My heart thuds under my ribs as I run a hand down the back of my damp neck. Blinking in the darkness in a my room, I breathe slowly, trying to calm my adrenaline-fueled body. I don't know where I am or if I'm safe, that beast that captured me must have darker intentions than I think , I already know it's not going to bite me and that makes me think of a worse hypothesis . There is nothing "safe" as a Human . My species is persecuted , and in the past was killed , just because of who we are . The Order of the Crescent Moon wanted to eradicate all humans in existence, at least until recently . Now, the white haired bastard leading that group of psychopaths is building an army using Humans of different races , though not before his species tried to murder me. I don't need an expert to tell me that my past fucked me up or that the nightmares that follow me every time I close my eyes are a reminder that I barely survived the attack meant to end my life. I am more than aware. My throat burns as I swallow my apprehension. Fuck. I can't keep doing this , I don't know if it's day or night and if that beast will come back to haunt me if I must come up with a plan so I can escape and find a safe place along with other humans . The gritty feeling in my eyes is becoming all too familiar. I can't remember the last time I slept well, since all this horror began and the beasts plotted against us to use us to their advantage , or to simply cull us . Slowly, I swing my legs off the bed, my head fuzzy and light as I sit up on the mattress, gripping the edge with my white knuckles I will never be safe, no human will be, until the Order is destroyed, for now I must try to escape this monster that holds me captive and then I will look for ways to seek out other humans to build an alliance . I hear screaming noises coming from somewhere not far from where I am , which means that I am not alone , that there are other humans captured by this beast . As I meditate on the other humans who could be like me or maybe worse , I hear some grunting and panting breathing coming closer to where I am . I turn slowly to see the huge wolf with a stalking gaze mercilessly slitting the throats of four wolves in front of me . As usual, my instincts flare up as I stand in front of him . The beast is huge my little knowledge about the sons of the moon who have been chasing us for decades tells me that it may be a lycanthrope , a human captured by the Order who was in captivity for a long time and was subjected to strong tortures to then be slaughtered by bites of other wolves , and so now is a slave of his own instincts . His large claws , his piercing gaze and his panting breath tells me that he comes from biting someone or perhaps from delivering another human into the arms of death which is the same as giving himself to the Order . The tension increases when I see it approaching towards me slowly , I only think of some defense mechanism , but how could I defend myself from this huge beast being a simple human . When I was stalked in the past by some beast I was in other circumstances , and I could look for some way to escape but here trapped and alone without help from other rebel humans to serve me as support is impossible , so I can only think of death , I prefer to die rather than be used as a hunter of humans , being turned into a beast and murdering my own kind was never an option , I'd rather die than be a traitor . The wolf lunges at me and gives me a strong lunge and all I feel is a sharp and deep pain , I felt like I was being dragged from the place where I was in captivity , and every movement brought me closer to a spiral of burning and suffering . I open my eyes suddenly , and I am no longer where I was , although I am deeply wounded , I do not know how much time passed since I was captured and brought here . I am lying on a bed , I try to stand up but the pain prevents me . "You must not get up ." I hear a voice telling me , an unknown voice . My vision is blurred and I fail to see the silhouette to which the voice belongs but I don't feel safe here , or anywhere else I just want to run away , so I try once again to get up as soon as I feel a burning in my arms and a strong claw holding me firmly . "I said don't get up " With great difficulty I manage to make out a blurred silhouette that seems to belong to the voice that orders me not to get up , the anguish of wanting to escape invades me but without my five senses alert how am I going to look for a way out . "Who are you? What do you want? Did the Order send you , why don't you kill me at once ." The intimidating looking human did not answer , I think he may be a spy , or a servant of the lycanthrope who kidnapped me .
