For an exorcism to be effective, one must be aggressive in forcing the demon out.
In the west, if holding a cross and chanting scriptures while sprinkling holy water was considered “soft exorcism,” then “hard exorcism” would be the choicest weapon in battling evil forces.
Many of the parishioners of the local church were left shocked when they heard about the incident of Pastor James’ defeat at Bell’s house. Many church members even became extremely angry when this matter came to their attention. Such news was really intolerable! Whether if it was the English, the Spanish, or the Native Americans, none of that mattered in the face of the State of the Righteous Army. Should the devout people of God really suffer under the bullying of witches and ghosts?
Things that God left us to our own devices with, the brave and fearless soldiers of the civil army of Texas took it as their responsibility to take care of. At that time, commanding the entire armed forces of Texas was none other than the seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson.
The legendary general had led 6,000 militia in the battle of New Orleans in 1815 to defend the city and defeated the British army in an astounding victory.
There was not much known about Andrew Jackson, the president. But in fact, his place in the history of the United States was very important.
First of all, he was the first “civilian president” in the history of the US to reside as head of state. Coming from a poor background, he joined the army at the age of 13. He served in the military for his entire life, having been a part of countless battles of various sizes.
Later on, he worked as a lawyer for a time, mainly taking up small local cases. He took it upon himself to defend the poor class. Sometimes, his belief in a certain sort of “justice” would push him to give his services to poor people who couldn’t afford a lawyer for free.
But because he had a poor education, was not cultivated, and had a bad temper, he was not good at arguing in court. It was rumored that his main “defense” method while in court was to insult and threaten the other party’s lawyer and client. Sometimes, he was so provoked by the other party that he would even propose to settle the matter over fists.
Such a bad-tempered man happened to be one of the early founders of the Democratic Party when he was elected to be president in 1828.
During his four years in office, he ruled with an iron fist. His crowning achievement was putting a halt to the division of North and South Carolina and thereby delaying the civil unrest in the United States by 30 years. His greatest criticism was that he was very cold towards the Native Americans, especially during The French and Iroquois Wars and the War of 1812.
In fact, this treatment extended far beyond the Native Americans. He became known as a ruthless character who completely ignored “political correctness.” This clashed with the Democrats' seriousness. If you were to compare him to one of the United States’ modern era presidents, that would have to be Donald Trump.
The Chinese have an old saying, “Ghosts are terrified of evil people.” In fact, it was easy to tell from ghost stories that these ghosts liked to bother old people, women, children, and weak scholars. If they met a tough man out for blood, their terror would keep them from playing any tricks.
Therefore, when news reached them that the battle hero Andrew Jackson was heading over with a dozen militia to the Bell family to ‘exorcise’ their demon, they felt that this would be a sure thing. But little did they expect that Jackson and his men would not even last an entire day at the Bell’s family residence.
