According to the official records of the “Witch of Bell,” on a certain day in 1819, Jackson brought his men over to the Bell house, though the exact date was left unknown. During that time, the Bell family had suffered under the torment of the evil witch spirit called “Kate” for about two years now.

When Jackson and his group of men rode their horses near the vicinity of Bell’s farm, the horses suddenly stopped in their tracks, refusing to move forward no matter how much the riders coaxed. Then all of a sudden, everyone could hear a woman whispering in their ears, “Come in. I’ll be seeing you tonight.” Then, the horses as if suddenly out of their thrall moved forward towards Bell’s residence.

Once they arrived on the farm, Jackson was warmly welcomed by John. That night, Jackson and John sat together by the fireplace in the hall, drinking and chatting about their lives. Jackson did not take the matter of the evil witch spirit seriously. He kept the topics on his heroic deeds in battle with the Native Americans and the English. While recounting these battles, he had a jovial look on his face.

Word was circulating that among the group of people accompanying Jackson that there was a person who claimed to be a ‘witch hunter.’ He was telling John that he was carrying a revolver with a special bullet, specifically used to target ‘impure things.’ If an evil spirit dared to show up, the entire thing would be taken care of with one shot.

Unexpectedly, the expert was the first to go that night.

At first, he appeared to be imagining things. He could hear whisperings in his ear. He pulled out his gun and walked the perimeter, but didn’t find anything. He began to become wracked by moans and screams of pain as if something were tearing his body apart. Then he was dragged out of the house by something invisible.

The others were all shocked by the spectacle. For a long time, they were left clueless on how to act. In the end, they did nothing as the ‘witch hunter’ was dragged out into the woods outside the house, disappearing into the night.

Having witnessed such a terrifying scene, the battle hero Jackson was left stunned. He sent someone to light a torch in order to search for the ‘witch hunter’ in the woods and asked the guards to set up tents outside the house to prepare for battle. Meanwhile, he and John stayed inside to continue drinking, though their mood for ‘talk and laughter’ was no more.

Right before dawn arrived, the group of people sent to find the ‘witch hunter’ returned. They came back ragged, bruised, and in a complete dazed state as if they had been chased and frightened the entire night. A few of them came back empty-handed having lost their guns in the confusion.

When Jackson asked them what had happened, they responded with incoherent talk. They could not help but beg Jackson to desperately leave this terrifying place. They could not stand to be there for one more minute. Jackson prepared for his men to leave. While getting ready to depart the premises, he said, “I would rather face an entire British fleet than stay at Bell’s house for one more night.”

Word spread that Jackson had sent people out to the woods near Bell family’s house to look for the missing witch hunter. His investigation to uncover this matter turned up fruitless.

Bell’s house restored.

Not long after Jackson left Bell’s house, John was left feeling despondent. This evil witch spirit was something the pastor couldn’t deal with, the war hero could do little about, and the witch hunter who had the special gun was dragged into the woods forever disappearing from their lives. What else was there for him to do?

From 1817 onwards, in the three years of being constantly pestered by “Kate,” John was overly physically and mentally taxed. He soon discovered that his health was deteriorating.

One day in 1829, while patrolling the barn, he tripped, broke both his legs, and lay in bed for a few weeks before passing away.

Word soon spread that at the end of his life, John had drunk from a brown potion that appeared out of nowhere. As soon as the potion touched his lips, his family heard “Kate” laughing in an extremely ear-piercing voice. “All of you are so stupid!” The next day, it became known that John had died.

At John’s funeral, Kate’s voice materialized in the ears of the Bell’s family for the very last time. She said that her grunge has been appeased and that she was going to leave the Bell’s house in the meantime. However, she let them know that she will come back seven years later. She will keep haunting the Bell family until every one of the family members is dead. Only then would she disappear from sight.

Later on, it was reported that in 1828, “Kate” did appear again in the Bell family’s lives for a few days, but eventually disappeared. Before leaving, she did predict that she would reappear again in seven years, but from that point on, she never returned.
