C4 Looking for that strange girl

Peace's POV

A few days after, the test result is being released and everyone's result is posted online for all to see, Peace is in the second place for the first time in his life and he feels totally awful about it, he checked the name of the person who beat him and he doesn’t seems to know who it is. Kayla tried to cheer him up but he still feels bad.

Being the best is a must for him and if he is second that means he is not the best.

Peace entered the class late because he had to quickly take Kayla to the clinic, she is having some pain in her stomach and couldn't attend the class.

He apologized to the lecturer for coming in late and went to sit in his usual spot but it has been occupied by someone else so he has no choice but to sit at the back of the class beside a strange person who is wearing Cardigan in the hot weather. He said hi but didn't get a reply and concentrate on the lecture.

At the end of the class, the lecturer talked about the test last week and how he is surprised that Peace failed an obvious question

"Mr. Peace" he called and he stood up

"Should I assume you were not prepared for my test?" He asked and Peace hung his head down even disappointed at himself and swears not to ever go to last minute parties again.

"Sit down, am sure you won't let someone beat you next time in my exam" he said and turned to the rest of the class to give further instructions and is about to step out but stopped like he realized something and called out a name he has never heard of

"Miss Dennis Luther" that is the name that was above his when he checked the result earlier, Peace wondered who that is and looked around to see the person but no one stood up

"Miss Dennis? Is she not in class?" The lecturer said again and looked around the class but still no one stood up.

"Where is the class president? How did she score a full mark when she misses my class?" The lecturer asked getting pissed that someone that scored the top mark in his test actually missed his class.

"Am here" Peace heard a tiny whisper beside him and turn to see its the strange girl from last week.

The girl saw that no one heard her and speak up a little louder, the lecturer saw that someone has owned up to the name and calm down then he told her to follow him to his office and left with the girl walking slowly to go after him.

"Dennis?" Peace think to see if he knows any Dennis who is that brilliant in his class but the only Dennis he knows never comes to class and she is Kayla's friend so there is no way he wouldn't recognize her.

One of his friends called Nate came to him and asked after Kayla, Peace answered him and he nodded in understanding

"How about we go to the clinic together then? I think we have two hour before the next class"

"Before that, do you know the Dennis girl that placed first on the test?" He asked curiously

“Yes everyone knows her, don't you?" Nate answered but peace has an oblivious look so he explained more

"She is always second to you in every test and exam since first year although there was a time she was in the third place in an exam in second year"

"Always second?" Peace repeated. He has always been first so after checking his name on top of the list and seeing his grade, he never looked at the other rank.

"You really don’t know about your competitor? You are really too much" Nate said not sensing his confusion. Nate is also a hot nerd like Peace and compete with Peace but is never able to meet up with him because he can't even defend the so called Dennis.

"So have you seen her face before? She looks like an introvert" Peace questioned and this time its Nate's turn to look confused

"Her face? Am not sure...actually I Don’t think I have seen her in person except today when the lecturer called her out, I just know the name" he answered

"Do you know if there is anyone close or familiar with who she is?" He asked again

"I don’t know but am sure our class president should know her, you can ask him" Nate answered and got a beep from his phone then took it out to check his message

"I should ask him then, I will see you later" he said to Nate and turned to hurry away but he stopped him surprised

"What are you doing? Are we not going to pick up Kayla from the clinic?"

"Sorry, I forgot. Just eager to find out about he...Dennis"

"Dennis? Why are you looking for her any ways, it’s not like you can change the fact that she scored higher than you on this test" Nate replied and went out to his car leaving Peace behind.

"That's true, why do I want to know her? Not like anything will change. He will just have to work harder next time" Peace thought and went after Nate leaving his own car behind.

Dennis's POV

"Miss Dennis Luther" Dennis pen fell from her hand when she heard the professor mention her name, after waking up this morning to see the update of the result on the test they did last week and saw that her name is first instead of second she knows that the lecturer is sure to call her.

She had purposely spelt one of the words wrongly so she wouldn't get a full mark but she didn't except to get a full mark despite that and the name that always have that same grade is visible in the second with a ninety-eight as his score.

Dennis dragged herself out of bed and start to prepare for class, her housemates went to a party the night before so thee will surely be in their rooms sleeping, she walked out of her door for the first time in a long while now and went towards the bathroom to cleanup buy didn't except to bump into one of her roommates who is coming out of the bathroom.

"Wooh!" She exclaimed and almost fell down sacred to see Dennis outside her room

"You...you are the girl right?" She said with a shaky voice. Dennis is just as shocked as she is and to even think that she is just wearing tiny underwear with her towel and other toiletries in her hands

"Sorry, just that I've never seen you before" the girl apologized and looked at her closely while Dennis tried to avoid her stares

"Excuse me" she said after finding her voice and walked away

"Hey! Am Kayla and...” Kayla stopped and held her stomach in pain. She must have drunk something strange at the party earlier.

She saw that Dennis has closed the door and left to her room

Dennis locked the door firmly and has a quick bath instead then teleport out of the bathroom to avoid any other person seeing her again.

When she is in her room dressing up, she could hear the girl talking to the others about seeing her and they argued that she must have been dreaming or still drunk.

"Miss Dennis? Is she not in class?" Dennis heard the lecturer again and debate on whether to actually stand up or not, she doesn't want any unnecessary attention and hope that he will give up but the next words forced to her answer and she stood up swiftly

"Am here" she said then realized her voice is not audible enough so she tried again and this time the man heard her and asked her to follow him.

Dennis entered his office and he expressed that he has not really taken note of her in his class and asked if she has ever answered a question in class before

"No Sir" Dennis answered. The professor then encouraged her to talk more and improve better and tells her why he gave her a full mark despite her mistake.

"You really understand my course a lot and wrote everything just the way I wanted it" Dennis thanked him but had a different thought on her mind and after a few more words, he let her go and Dennis head to Luther's office.

Peace's POV

Peace asked almost everyone in the class about Dennis but everyone doesn't seems to know who he is talking about, even the class president told him he has only seen her once and that was when they resumed to school for the first time and she registered her name with him.

Peace thought that it's not possible for anyone at all not to know her and continued to ask others in another department but none knows who he is talking about, he even start to monitor and observe every student in each class they have that week to get her but it seems like she is already aware that someone is looking for her and disappeared.

Some of the students think he is crazy and Kayla even had a small fight with him because of it but Peace seems to be obsessed with finding her.

He remembered that the girl he saw in class that day was the same girl that bumped into him the other day and that made him more determined.

At first, he is curious to see who could beat him and then he is the most popular kid so there shouldn't be anyone he doesn't know.

Kayla thought it's crazy for him to be searching for some girl when he has a girlfriend.

Peace sat down in class after the lecturer has left and Kayla came up to him, she sat down beside him and place her head on his chest without a word, after their little quarrel they haven't talked so she took the initiative to come to him first

Peace puts his phone aside and kissed her lightly on the lips which Kayla responded to and then silent ensue between them

"Have you found her yet or are you still looking for her?" Kayla questioned and peace sighed heavily.

After searching in vain for a whole week, he concluded that she probably doesn't exist in the school

"I give up" Peace told her and a smile lit up Kayla's face. She raised her head and gives Peace a quick peck on his face.

"Are you that happy?" He asked also smiling

"Of course I am, do you know how worried I am that you must have lost it because you placed second?" Kayla said. Right, everyone thought it’s because he was second place and he couldn't accept it

"Do you want to come over to my house tonight?" Kayla proposed and he gently agreed.

He has no plan for the weekend anyways and wanted to sleep off the stress so he might as well spend it with her.

"Okay with me, when should we leave?" He said and Kayla jumped up excited.

He has never visited her place like other boyfriends do and that as got her worried that he might not love her enough but now she is sure he loves her like she does.

"Why don’t we go for a little shopping first then we can head straight there"

"Fine" Peace agreed and they left the class together but Peace stopped before she opened the car and asked about her roommates, he doesn't want to go there because of their privacy in the first place.

"They are all out except... No one is at home"

They all planned to go for a party in another city tonight but Kayla is going to miss it and spend time with Peace and as for the strange girl, she will never leave her room so its fine.
