C13 Mr Yu(2)

Chen Shanheng and Chen Ji exchanged a glance.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Chen Shanheng turned to Chen Yi and inquired, "Yi, could you share with your father what rank of Pharmacist you've achieved?"

During their time in the VIP room, both Chen Shanheng and Chen Ji had sensed that something was amiss. A mere Rank Two Medicine Pill wouldn't have caused such a stir among the South Wind Auction's higher-ups, nor would it warrant the title of 'Master' being bestowed upon Chen Yi. The idea that Chen Yi could be crafting Rank Three Medicine Pills was simply too astounding to believe.

Even taking into account Chen Yi's claim of studying under a master for a year, becoming a Pharmacist in such a short time was impressive enough. But Rank Three? In all of Wood County City, only Master Ye Ting was of that caliber. If Chen Yi was truly at that level, it would be nothing short of miraculous.

"Uh, which rank..."

Chen Yi found himself at a loss for words.

As a top-tier Pharmacist from the Holy Heaven Realm, his skills in alchemy far surpassed those of the Blue Cloud Realm. Explaining this to Chen Shanheng and Chen Ji would be futile—they simply wouldn't understand, and he couldn't possibly reveal the full extent of his abilities. How could a Pharmacist with only a year's training be among the elite?

After hesitating, he finally said, "Specifically... it's hard to pinpoint. But refining ordinary Rank Two and Three Medicine Pills isn't a challenge for me."

"Not a challenge for ordinary Rank Two or Three?"

Chen Shanheng and Chen Ji gaped at Chen Yi.

Confronted with their stares, Chen Yi felt a wave of discomfort, yet he empathized with their astonishment.

In Wood County City, a Rank Three Pharmacist was the pinnacle of achievement. The revelation that he was of such a rank was bound to shock them.

Nevertheless, Chen Yi had braced himself for this moment when he decided to reveal his Pharmacist identity.

Reborn into his younger self, he knew that while some secrets must be kept, there was no need for undue modesty. Desiring to enhance his strength swiftly, he couldn't afford to remain in the shadows.

If modesty was not an option, he would embrace a bolder approach.

And as for any trouble that might arise, as the esteemed Blood Sovereign of the Holy Heaven Realm, what was there to fear?

Chen Ji was incredulous, "Young lord, you're not pulling our leg, are you?"

"In time, you'll see for yourself whether I'm jesting or not," Chen Yi responded coolly, then closed his eyes, signaling an end to the discussion.

Chen Ji's brow furrowed as he turned to Chen Shanheng, who simply shook his head.

Chen Yi didn't wish to elaborate, and Chen Shanheng had no desire to press the matter. As a father, he was aware that his son had been fortunate enough to receive guidance from a distinguished expert. While his curiosity was piqued, his overriding emotion was joy.

What parent wouldn't want their child to excel?

A sixteen-year-old Rank Three Pharmacist—should he choose to dedicate himself solely to alchemy, his prospects were undeniably bright.

The thought alone filled him with excitement...

While Chen Shanheng reveled in excitement, Wang Sheng, head of another major family in Wood County City, was in the throes of despair.

He stared at Wang Yun, who lay on the bed, his complexion ghostly pale, and Wang Sheng's expression was stormy.

He had just returned home and made a beeline for Wang Yun's quarters, eager to present the Azure Spirit Liquid he had purchased, hoping to lift his spirits. But upon arrival, he was met with the news of Wang Yun's relapse into unconsciousness and found his son in a state of extreme weakness.

"How has it come to this? Yun was perfectly fine when I left!"

Wang Sheng demanded answers, his voice thunderous as he addressed the maidservants kneeling at either side, "What exactly happened!?"

His imposing presence sent shivers down the maids' spines. "Master... we don't know. The young master was just fine, and then... then all of a sudden, he was like this..."

"Suddenly?"

Wang Sheng's frown deepened, and he turned to his butler, "Have you informed Mr. Yu?"

"I'm already here!"

Before the butler could respond, a voice echoed from outside the room.

A middle-aged man in a Taoist robe, his white hair flowing, stood at the doorway.

"Mr. Yu, please, examine my son at once!"

Upon seeing the white-haired man, Wang Sheng urged him forward.

The man nodded and approached the bedside, taking Wang Yun's wrist in his hand.

"Hmm?"

He uttered a sound of surprise within seconds.

"What's wrong with my son?" Wang Sheng asked anxiously.

Without answering, the white-haired man pulled back the covers to inspect Wang Yun's body further.

"This doesn't make sense!"

After a brief examination, he voiced his concern, his brow furrowed in confusion.

Seeing this, Wang Sheng pressed for answers, "Mr. Yu, what is the matter with my son?"

The middle-aged man replied calmly, "He's suffering from severe blood depletion, extreme anemia that has led to his unconscious state."

"Extreme anemia?"

Wang Sheng's frown deepened. "That's impossible. My son was injured yesterday, but he didn't lose much blood. How could he be suffering from extreme anemia?"

The white-haired middle-aged man paused briefly, "The symptoms do bear a striking resemblance to something I'm familiar with."

"What might that be?"

Wang Sheng asked eagerly.

"It appears to be the symptoms that follow an infestation of the Life Devouring Blood Insect," the white-haired man explained.

"The Life Devouring Blood Insect?" Wang Sheng gasped in disbelief. "How can that be?"

A look of sudden realization washed over Wang Sheng, and his face clouded with worry. "Mr. Yu, it's not possible that the Blood Venomous Insect you prepared for my son somehow ended up inside him, is it?"

The white-haired man shook his head. "I cultivated that Blood Venomous Insect myself. If it had inadvertently entered his body, I would have detected it. But I've just checked, and the insect isn't within him."

"Then what's the explanation for all this?" Wang Sheng was clearly perplexed.

"I'm not sure," the white-haired man admitted. "However, he's currently suffering from severe anemia and needs an immediate blood transfusion. Go quickly and have someone prepare a blood-restorative concoction for him to ingest. Any delay could put his life at risk!"

Upon hearing this, Wang Sheng's face turned pale, and he swiftly commanded the butler at his side, "Did you not hear Mr. Yu? Go at once and make the necessary preparations!"

"Yes, Patriarch!" The butler nodded and hastily exited the room.

The white-haired man then turned to Wang Sheng. "Could you recount what happened with the placement of the insect yesterday?"

Wang Sheng nodded and began to recount the events.

"Evil art?" The white-haired man's eyes narrowed with a glint of interest when he heard how Chen Yi had used some dark magic to defeat Wang Yun. "Now that is intriguing!"

"Mr. Yu, what exactly is happening to my son?" Wang Sheng asked, his concern for Wang Yun evident despite the white-haired man's piqued interest.

The white-haired man responded calmly, "He hasn't been afflicted by the Life Devouring Blood Insect, yet his symptoms suggest otherwise. If we go by your account, it could very well be the result of Chen Yi's sorcery."

Wang Sheng's face darkened. "Mr. Yu, are you suggesting that that scoundrel wasn't affected by the Life Devouring Blood Insect, but instead passed the curse onto my son?"

"I did not say that," the white-haired man replied, shaking his head. "Moreover, since the Life Devouring Blood Insect isn't in your son's body, that scenario isn't plausible. As for whether Chen Yi has been affected by the insect, I'll need to see for myself."

"Mr. Yu, are you implying that…"

"I find the evil art you mentioned quite fascinating. I intend to meet this young master of the Chen family in person!"
