C9 Chapter 9.

The police station stood adjacent to a crosswalk where people could get access easily to lay their complaints. Keva walked into the office with a serious face. She was the officer in charge of the murder crisis that was lingering around the city. She marched straight into the attorney office.

"I greet you sir'e" she saluted and sat down quietly.

"It's such a surprise that the woman of integrity wishes to see me today"

"I'm not here for that…why did the whole story line change?" She said, almost yelling.

"I believe I don't have answers to your questions…just lie low lady" he cautioned, wheeling the office chair he sat on.

"I'm just performing my right, we can't just stop covering cases for celebrity at fault because of the money. The attorney didn't reply her, rather, he stood up and paced to a part of the wall that had pictures of wanted criminals.

"Where's the justice we preach of?" She pressed on.

"That's enough of the sermon, don't teach me my duties, if you've got nothing to say, just leave" he barked folding his hands at her. She hesitated for a while and walked out in annoyance. Keva stopped moving immediately she came out and cursed the corrupt system. She raised her head high, and it meant the door opposite the attorney, and she scoffed.

"Mr. Oliver would just be fine" she thought and knocked on his door and he bellowed

"Come in". Keva found him asleep instead of working, he was just a kind of lazy officer whose duty was simply to pass announcement. Keva knocked the table which he laid his head on and he groaned.

"What now…officer keva?"

"Well I got details about the man you asked for" she replied with a Stern look.

"So… I spoke to, and he seemed interested in the investigation" she explained bringing out a notepad from her bag.

"Details about what he got on site" keva further crossing her legs.

"Wait a minute…how did you get close to him that he released such information?" He questioned, winkling his eyes to understand what was going on.

"Because we would soon be partners" she beckoned as he studied every write up in the jotter.

"All hands poses to miss Lucy from what I see here, but how do we bring her to the spotlight?" He stated trying to figure out a way.

"We still need more evidence, perhaps a witness present there". Keva suggested tapping her fingers on the table. There was silence for some minutes, and Oliver decided to break it.

"But we need backing from the law if we want to carry out research"

"Yes but for now, it has to be in secrets right?" She pointed with a pleading tone. Oliver adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat, he wasn't good at keeping secrets, but if this was going to benefit him later on, then he was in.

"So when do we start?" He asked with no emotions as he furthered his research on her new teammate whom he was yet to see.

Miss Lucy ran home all sweaty, she had gone to the station to report the incident that Julie went missing, but it wasn't yet 24 hours for her to be declared missing. No one in the house has seen miss Lucy this devastated and scared. She kept calling people she knew to help find Julie. Jason rushed into the house and in a haste, miss Lucy held his shoulder tightly.

"Any news yet?" She wailed with tears in her eyes.

"No ma'am". Miss Lucy walked to the counter, picked a glass cup and threw it at Jason, who shoved aside to avoid being injured.

"Where were you idiot before this incident happened" she barked, grabbing his collar firm with both hands as though to strangle him.

"We were heading your way, and then she said she wanted an ice-cream" he explained, panicking and praying to be fired before the unexpected happens.

"You will answer that behind bars!" She roared and he went on his knees begging. Alexandra walked downstairs to meet miss Lucy, she was the elderest among everybody and most times, the maid runs to her if they were in trouble with miss Lucy.

"Calm, miss Lucy…if you begin to act wild, how will things be solved?" She posed, heaving a sigh.

"What does calming down has to do with this old log!" She retorts. Alexandra looked hurt, but she was used to miss Lucy's insult and as long as she was heard out, it was fine by Alexandra.

"You could hire a detective for this issue" Alexandra advised staring at everyone who feared for her wrath.

"I want this to be a general announcement to the public…on my child… I need to find her!" Miss Lucy cried, running to her room.

"She's scary" Susan commenting while helping Jason to get up.

"She's a mother and that's how it feels when we lose our children"

"No, stop trying to defend her, she does this all the time!…if not because of the high pay! I would have left a long time ago!" Susan lamented frowning.

"I never knew she even loves that child…miss Lucy is strange at times" Jason noted, rubbing his throat.

"Jason?"

"Ma"

"Let's have a word" Alexandra requested and Jason followed her while Susan ran upstairs to attend to miss Lucy.

"If this is a game Julie stop it now?" Miss Lucy said as she tries to make calls for enquiry. A message suddenly popped on her phone as it seems this days, she kept receiving messages which was never wanted.

"Hope you like the surprise!" It read. She tried not to freak out because right now, she was in a delimma and she texted

"Who are you". When it got sent, her phone rang and it was an unknown number. Even if didn't want to answer, it could be reasonable since Julie was missing.

"Hello?" She responded.

"If want to see your child alive...then meet me at dawn...the address would be sent you!"
